Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through UA-cam videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

Graham Norton is amazing. He has such a way with people, that he gets stories out of people that they wouldn't tell in any other public circumstance. Great guy.
Hi Connor, circumsition is rately done in the UK unless for religious or merical issues, whereas in the states its quite common for all. Dunno why.
I'm so confused why any non jew would get their baby circumcised... its unnecessary mutilation that should be up to the person when they are adult...

Gavin Hall......maybe to give some answer: 'Current circumcision incidence and prevalence in the United States is approximately 80% due to support from the country's medical community as a prophylactic health intervention against disease.' (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prevalence_of_circumcision). I simply couldn't believe that such a high figure is still being maintained in the US, and am utterly baffled at the reason for it. Robert, UK.
@@2eleven48 It's because of the for-profit healthcare system, unneccesary surgery makes money. Circumcision rates used to be quite high in the English-speaking nations (Australia used to be 80% in the 30s) up until the introduction of public healthcare at which point it became an elective surgery you had to pay out of pocket for so it died out
@@defenestrator3900....I'd like to think that it wasn't merely the emergence of elective surgery, but that information was also being delivered that made people question the procedure. I wonder if US citizens really quite understand why circumcision is unnecessary. Maybe it's due to an ingrained cultural heritage still in force there. I should add that I was circumcised as a baby (in South Africa) as an automatic part of the early rearing. Thanks for taking the time to reply. Robert, 75, uk.
The circumcision story always reminds me of a British film called East is East. They all thought one of the kids was circumcised but turns out they forgot to do it (tha'ts a small part of the actual film, it's great to watch if you ever have time)

Graham Norton brought his show to the USA and it aired from NY on Comedy Central (I think), but it only lasted a season.
I really began watching a lot of UA-cam videos during lockdown. I’ve seen so many UK shows - panel shows, chat shows, game shows, comedies, etc. Like you, I recognize so many of the people as they appear on so many different shows. Such fun! Greg Davies and Olivia Colman are two of my favorites.
Greg's show The Cleaner is absolutely brilliant. He is great, the wring is is great and he has class A actors to bounce off of. ;

I should point out that Miriam severely undervalued the drugs dropped at her house. There was, in fact, over 500kg of cocaine found with a wholesale value exceeding £17.25M (worth something like US$22M at the time, due to the weak conversion) I dread to think how much it's worth at street value, or how they managed to go so long without getting caught 🤷🏻♂️😅🤔

It's not usual to be circumcised in Europe in general. Much more prevalent in the US.

Circumcised men are not so common in Britain as in the USA, unless from certain cultural or religious communities. For Britain the figure is about 20%. Of this, about 4% of children by 15 are circumcised for medical reasons, but the health authorities want to reduce that rate by half due to misdiagnosis of need. (source: wiki)
It's more common in America probably because the private medical lobby can make more money. It's that same lobby pushing a lot of this trans stuff. Because once someone starts that process. They've got them taking expensive drugs for life. Americans are consumers not citizens.
I bet it would be less than 1% in Eastern Europe.

Circumcision is not a big thing in the UK unless for religious reasons. Same as we don't get our wisdom teeth out at 16 for no apparent reason like they do in the USA !

It's not, the HP virus is more common in countries with genital mutilation. Even though Europe has over 150 million more people, there is almost 100% more cases of HPV in the States.
@@js0988 I really do wish that people like you would moderate their language. I was circumcised as a child for medical reasons. I also had my tonsils removed as a child for medical reasons but no-one goes around telling me I have been mutilated because I don't have tonsils anymore. Or do you think that makes me twice mutilated?
