Queuing in a pub is an art form. You eye up who is there before you and slot in at the right moment. People are usually pretty polite about it and say if they think someone is in front of them. "No, you're before me." Most bar staff are well aware who is next in turn anyway.

You don’t normally queue in the normal sense in a pub. You just mill around at the bar. Bar staff have an uncanny knack of knowing who's next, and most punters are polite enough to say "This guy was before me" if they get it wrong. Not always mind, but usually.

I think the main reason why tipping is not such a big thing in the UK could be because we pay our workers nearly double per Hour to what they pay them in the USA. Yes you can tip if you want too and most of the tips are shared with all the Waiting Staff not just your individual server.

In the US the minimum wage apparently is about $3 a hour for people who are tipped like bar staff and waiters, so tipping is almost all the money the servers or bar staff get. The low wage was the fault of the tax administrators because the staff were getting a low decent wage but people used to tip for good service, the Tax shiny arses noticed and said how can we steel more money off these people they’re already getting paid? I know some benevolent tax man said we’ll make a formula for calculating how much money will be added to their wage packet then we’ll add more to get tax because they are being given more wages. So now they have to have the tips to make a living wage (listen to me guffaw with unbelieving laughter). Let me go work in the US this minute because I’ll be cherished over there in the land of opportunity!!! Hah, hah, hah!!!

Current exchange rate £1.00 = $1.27 current minimum wage in the UK for 18 to 20 yr olds £8.60 / $10.96 per HOUR. Also a point in the UKs favour is part of our wages is kept by the UK Govt to pay into our Personal Pension Fund that is repaid to those (like myself) who have retired. Some "Pub culture" things to try. Go in winter and find a pub with a log fire. Sit by the fire in a big leather armchair with a warm beer, and maybe a full meal.
Yes many pubs serve food. We have pubs that serve "Mexican", "Thai", traditional British fish and chips or roast beef and mashed potatoes. Even the crummiest of pubs will have a food menu of sorts, it might be only chicken wings and potato wedges.
Some pubs are Michelin starred restaurants (a Michelin star is a high accolade). We have a pub near us that got taken over by an adventurous chef, started doing high quality food and got a Michelin star. Top chefs come down from London to sample their tasting menu and see what they're doing. To eat you have to book a table 3 months in advance. There are expensive cars parked outside all the time.
But it's still a pub. From the outside it looks like a pub, and you can walk in and buy a beer. But you can't actually eat unless you've booked.

It's rare to tip the bar staff, they are paid at least the minimum wage (about £15/hour), sometimes more. Re the tipping culture it was traditional to say "and have one yourself" when asked if there was anything else. Most often the bar person would then take a pound or two from your change (good practice was to do it in front of you) and then put it in the tip jar. Often this was accompanied with the ringing of a bell!
It is actually illegal for the person behind the bar to drink alcohol when behind the bar. The have one yourself is just code for take a tip. The tip taken is very rarely the full cost of the said drink. Bar staff are paid a proper wage so the tip really is the icing on the cake.

British cider usually has a higher alcohol content than most beers. As an American, when you visit, remember a British pint is quite a lot larger than a US pint - 20 fluid ounces against the US 16. You don't always stand in a Queue at the bar you get there, look around, check who was before you, and etiquette demands that you wait until your turn before ordering.

It is painted on flags and shields so soldiers used to congregate where they should be before and during battles. The Monarch have their own Coat of Arms and it is raised on the Flag staff above a castle when whichever Royal is in residence. Look on top of Buckingham Palace if the King is in residence the Union Flag will be replaced by the Kings standard which has his coat of arm emblazoned on it. You can take your beer outside. It depends on the pub but on rare occasions they might ask you if you plan to go outside in which case they'll give you plastic instead. Often they'll switch to plastic anyway if it's a nice day and they're busy. Sometimes there will be a sign saying "no glass outside" in which case you can ask for plastic instead. It really depends on several factors but you just get used to it and develop a knowledge for where/when it's expected.
Queuing in pubs relies on British politeness and instinct. Most of the time when the bar staff approach you know who was in front of you but that person will often look to others to see if they're wrong, in which case you just assert "they were here first". Even if no one is sure we turn extremely British - "you first", "no you were here first", "No, I insist". This usually only lasts 5 seconds before beers are being poured and you're all getting on with things.

Connor. I take it that you already know that a US pint is smaller than a UK Pint? A US pint is 16 fluid ounces. A UK pint is 20 fluid ounces, i.e. its ¼ of a US pint bigger! Count your pints before drinking too much. Some of our beers, especially ales, may be stronger, i.e. higher alcohol levels.
Guiness is an Irish drink that is brewed in Dublin. But the beer/stout is sold virtually worldwide. If you go to Dublin go to the Storehouse for a very good display of the history and brewing of Guiness. Your entry fee includes a glass of Guiness in the rooftop bar.
Not every pub does meals, but these days quite a lot do. When drink/drive laws came into force in 1967 pubs had to find a way of attracting customers. Offering meals was the way to get customers in. many great meals came from pub menus. One in country pubs especially for lunch time was the ploughman’s lunch, typically a chunk of good bread, local cheese, pickles, some salad and maybe an apple.
Some pubs allow your drink to be taken outside. The glass remains the property of the pub. Some towns & cities have byelaws stopping walking around with beer. If so then it will be widely advertised.

The chips are the same size as the potato that it was 'chipped' from. To have really long chips you need consistently long potatoes. That said, there was a trend from the US of using extruded maize paste as the basis for 'fries' which meant that you could have them any length you wanted and even have them curly. I seem to recall McDonald's got into trouble when it first came over as trading standards insisted that anything that was a 'chip' had to be made from chipped potato.
