Oh man I do love your machine. I'm so jealous. Glad it's you that gets to take it on down the road, making people happy and smile about the way things were back then. I owned a 1967 firebird coupe - maize with black vinyl top, hood carried 326 , however, after owning the car for a couple of weeks, lI ended up racing a friend who had a '68 4 speed, 400 H.O. I actually smoked him. Afterwards he grabbed his Pontiac Chilton bible and commenced to find out exactly what my engine and trans was. He located the engine codes for the cars and to my pleasant surprise, my 326 w/ automatic had code WT, and I believe his was YZ. My '67 had the 400 -325/30 hp backed up to a th 400. Needless to say It was probably the most reliable, dependable and never let me down when I raced. So, man I'm so jealous of your beautiful bird. But I had my day in the sun. I was a 23 year old GI, Nam vet, and had just re-enlisted...today 73 and retired. Thanks for your video showcasing your special build. I DIG IT MAN!
Beautiful car man, I love what you've done with it. I own a second gen myself with Ridetech as well but always loved these first gens. Debating on seltl or trading my zo6 for one
@@jazamora7521 Thanks Man, the First Gens are pretty cool, I’d love to have an early second gen Trans Am some day. Now that is a decision, Z06 or First Gen Firebird? Hmmm, good luck with that one! 😃
Very nice job! One of the best I've seen. My neighbor Pauly had 2 of these when I was a kid. He was a few years older than me and sometimes I'd hang out with him while he worked on his car. One was a hotrod and the other a very low mile old lady car that was all original, nothing missing. Unfortunately he wrecked the hotrod. I just have fond memories of these 68 firebirds and it has always been my dream car. Your car came out really nice on a budget. Better than most professionals. I like that you didn't over do it and it has a modern touch to it. Very nice!
First time seeing this. Love the car. Thanks for sharing and keeping the Pontiac engine. I have a 75 Formula with a 455 Pontiac engine. People love to see that Pontiac still lives.
@@315squared4 i enjoyed your video. I saw 68 firebird for sale and it doesn't have no motor or trans and of course it has some rust. I want to buy it if he sale it for the right price but i don't know if i want to buy it. How much does it cost to put a motor and trans in it?
@@mikeanderson2152 depends. If you have friends that know what they’re doing and can help you install and you already have the motor and tranny then I’d say go for it. If you don’t have an engine or the transmission and you need a shop to install it that can get very pricey real quick.

Thank you thank you, for putting Pontiac motor back in this beauty. Hey Chris I remember talking to you several times on the phone back in the mid to late 90s and remember you telling me that your car did not have A Vin # .. well the 68 400HO that I bought while I was in the UK is here with me in Canada still trying to get her back to as original as possible.. really like what you have done with your car if I win the lottery i will send you a cheque LOL
@@315squared4 Thx. I've seen light cars with manual/4wheel disc but even then some use master cylinders with small piston/more travel or modify brake pedal for more leverage. Maybe those giant brakes help.
Your car is junk. You must sell it to me cheap so I can fix it. Lol! No.. seriously... this car is awesome. I love it!!! Poncho powered Firebird! Love the restomod on the inside. Absolutely fantastic!

Wow, nice story, hope you kept everyone thinking it was a 326! Thank you for the kind words and for your service Richard!
Sooo glad you kept the OEM 400. I ❤ pre-POD LS motors but this car just wouldn’t be the better w/o that 400
