That team was just fun up and down the lineup, great D every night, good slashers, passers, shooters, and the best finisher. People who only see Kemp highlights don't realize how sudden he was in an actual game. He would come out of nowhere, grab an offensive rebound and smash it home, or fly in from off camera and block an easy layup. He was quickness and speed rating 15 on a scale of 1-10. *Edit - btw I am a Knicks fan who would stay up late to watch west coast games on TNT just to see the Sonics, Suns, Golden State, etc.
SF Wilkins...A legend who has been forgotten for some reason. He always showed up in crunch time. His only fault was that his teammates were Doc Rivers, Spud Webb and Kevin Willis instead of Kevin McHale, Dennis Johnson, and Robert Parish.
Dominique was always my favorite small forward of all time. Still remember him high fiving me while playing for Bologna in Europe against my Cibona Zagreb team, after seeing me in his Atlanta Hawks Tshirt in a crowd. Was really a surprise for him that he had die hard fans in Europe and ofcourse it was a highlight of my career as a basketball fan:)
Not quite. Wilkins was great. Greater than 99.99% of anyone who played in the NBA. He was not an even trade for Bird though. He was a tier lower. He was a lesser Dr J. Bird and Dr J were above Wilkins because of their rebounding, passing, and defense, in addition to their clutch scoring. Wilkins could rise to the occasion in any category, but he was not big enough/muscular enough to compete and contribute as much as Bird and Dr J did, and although a decent passer, he wasn't even on the same planet as Bird in passing skill/ability.
Great choices, especially Stockton. Love that you chose Rodman to start. Personally, I'd find space for Tim Duncan, but there are a lot of all time greats to choose from. Great list!
It's good to have specialists like Stockton and Rodman. Otherwise, there aren't enough shots to go around. I don't think teams of five great scorers would do as well as we might think. They would struggle to develop offensive rhythm.
Fantastic list! Great explanations. Still waiting for you to cover the interview between Malone and Zeke about the famous elbow. Definitely part of the Basketball Time Machine era.
Starting 5: Wilt, Giannis, Bird, MJ, Magic. Reserves: Dream, Malone, Hill, Kobe, Kidd, Pippen, and KG. I think Wilt probably deserves more respect than he gets at this point just because of the lack of footage from his prime and the era he played in. Guy was phenomenal.
@@rparchman Absolutely, no denying that. For me though, when you look at Wilt's verified legends (not the one's that are unverifiable), the stuff like setting high jump records, averaging 50 for a year, 100 point single game, his huge lead in rebounds, averaging more than 48 minutes a game for a season... Then you look at him really late in his career or you hear stuff like Arnold Schwarzenegger saying that he was blown away by his strength. I think he is one of those rare guys, his gifts and his drive, he would have been amazing in any era. Shaq and Dream are amazing, nothing wrong with those picks.

My twelve from back court to front: Chamberlain, Hakeem, Duncan, Worthy, Pippen, Erving, Jordan, Robertson, Magic, and Jerry West. Had a tough time with that last point guard spot.. Lots of others I could have picked... went with the NBA logo : )
Nice list. 👍 Stockton throwing perfect lobs to Kemp would be fun to watch. I was born and raised near Portland, Oregon and grew up watching the late 80s and early 90s Trailblazer teams. Really wish we could have gotten Sabonis when they drafted him in the 80s. Porter, Drexler, Kersey, Buck and prime Sabonis? That would have been special. So my dream team would have Sabonis and Drexler playing in their prime together. :)
Very good picks. My starting 5 would be: Stockton, MJ, Pippen, Duncan and Hakeem. My reasoning: (1) Only one big ego on the team, (2) great offense and defense, (3) can play technical but can also handle tough opponents.
Jordan, Payton, Pippen, Rodman, Mutombo (with early '90s rules) .... Maybe not the best overall combination one could make, but watching these guys on defense would be mind-blowing.
@@jaysonraphaelmurdock8812 with '90s rules, without question they'd dominate. in today's game, where there's boring zone instead of gladitorial 1 one 1 match ups, no hand-checking, and no glove smothering defense, it might be closer. That's a lot of offense on that Steph team you listed.
There's been a lot of great centers, but you'd be crazy if you think I'd pick anyone other than Hakeem Olajuwon! He was my favorite player at the time back in the 90's.
I always tell people i would have loved to witness an NBA that had a injury free penny and grant hill. I still watch there old games. Humanity was robbed of witnessing greatness by those two having there injuries that limited there dominance in the NBA.
Great list man! Love the Rodman pick. I'd take Ewing over Dream. Dream was better but just loved Ewing. Kemp was a lot of fun! Underrated imo. Penny was like a hybrid of Jordan and Magic I thought. Too bad he got injured.
Ewing at his peak was better head-to-head than peak Olajuwan was. Ewing's peak was much shorter though (~2.5 yrs). Olajuwon was more flexible guarding smaller, quicker players and with help defense while Ewing was better guarding big players 1v1 and the paint altogether. Ewing was a better scorer during his peak years, especially in clutch time, but that was a very short peak compared to Olajuwan. At their very peak, I'd pick Ewing over Olajuwan as a center. I wouldn't pick either over peak Wilt, peak Kareem, or peak Moses Malone though. Peak David Robinson is right there with Ewing and Olajuwan. Shaq would be a distant 7th, with a hard fight to beat out Nate Thurman, Artis Gilmore, and Bob Lanier.
@@merlball8520 well put! Ewing would really have been a total best without injuries. Young was really quick. Kudos on putting Moses up there. He gets slept on a lot.

Anyone remember kemps interview after leaving the Sonics in which he said he’s gonna do what the Sonics didn’t allow him to do which was shoot the ball ( kemp was money)
I dig it man, that's a very unselfish team, would undoubtedly be some beautiful basketball to watch. I think my starters would be Penny Hardaway, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan. Definitely have Magic Johnson, John Stockton, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'neal, Tracy McGrady, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, David Robinson, Chris Mullins, Damian Lillard, which I think he also carries the old school torch as well. Really tough coming up with a bench, so many phenomenal players to choose from, you could ponder this all day hahah. Keep up the great work brother!
@@tlroc1744 Yeah I agree! I think he's really under-appreciated, I watched a video of Magic Johnson discussing just how hard he is to guard. I enjoyed watching the warriors back when Mullins, Hardaway and Richmond were on the court, great team, but like so many others, had to run into that buzz saw that was the Jordan Bulls.
I have NEVER agreed with peoples top 10s or 12 type of lists but hot damn this Is damn near a perfect list. Can't forget some of the other all time greats either like Ewing, Barkley, Johnson, Bogus, Clyde the Glide, Malone, plus so many more. Absolute damn near perfect list
I really loved this video. You mixed some "must" like Jordan or Bird with people like Penny o T-Mac who were absolutely enjoyable although they had not long careers. It was a truly honest video and so fun to watch :D
Love your picks and the explanations. I would have to put Magic in there somewhere, he's successfully guarded all 5 positions! And I'm basis being from Chicago and a Scottie Pippen fan. 😅
If they make Dream Team in 1988, it would be scarrier than 1992. Full team: Starters: Magic Jordan Bird Charles Patrick. Bench Isiah Thomas Joe Dumars James Worthy Hakeem Olajuwon Clyde Drexler
Hakeem wasn't a US citizen yet. That's why he wasn't on the '92 team either. Also, nobody wanted Zeke on the Dream Team, especially not MJ, Bird, Magic, or Scottie. Mullin was also arguably just as good as Dumars. Plus Malone was better than Worthy and they probably still would have had to have a college player. The only real advantage your team has is that Bird and Magic were still healthy in '88.
I don't think Olajuwon could play for any Dream Team prior to becoming an American citizen. I believe he played for Dream Team 3 in '96 after officially becoming an American citizen.
Like him or not, he would be on that team for sure. At that time, his team was representing the Eastern Conference, and he was beating MJ, so MJ couldn’t keep him off that team, and not everyone had a problem with Zeke.
You're a 90s boy. Just like me. Love your Dream Team PS when MJ dunked one went wow, but when Kemp dunked one went ouch!! the defender wasen´t humilliated he was hurt!!
This is a great list. However, I think the two players who I feel are missing from that list are definitely Koby Bryant first and also LeBron James. Other than that, awesome list. Now, I have commented on things you've posted before, and if you recall, MJ is my favorite player... ever. I'm still a Bulls fan. Great job!
Totally agree on your Starting 5!! Stockton, while not super-athletic, had gigantic hands like MJ. Arguably the greatest defender, Rodman is the perfect offensive complement to 3 alpha scorers (Bird on outside, MJ in between, and Hakeem deep in the paint). I have 5 of 7 different bench: PG2: Oscar; SG2: Reggie; SF2: Pippen; PF2: Mailman; C2: Admiral. Reserve11: Barkley; Reserve12: Giannis.
Love your picks , the only change I'd make is kemp for rodman , better offensively amazing slasher and good mid range jumper ! Otherwise, chef's kiss .
I used to listen to Sonics basketball on the radio while going to bed, first with Bob Blackburn and later with Calabro. The amount of times the latter had to say the word Olajuwon every game was simply astounding Talk about a guy who filled up the Stat sheet!!!
Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Scottie Pippen are my starting 5. I have Dr. J ,Bill Russell and Pete Maravich coming off my bench.
Always delivering ! I love this list. Here's mine: Starting 5 Magic, Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, Hakeem. I just don't want to put somebody else next to Jordan, except Pippen. Hakeem for his versatilité. Shaq is definitely my favourite center, but l feel with Hakeem, it would be a perfect 5. There's offense, and high quality defense. I dare anybody to beat that. Though, there's no shooter( specialist), they would get threes at any moment. Reserves : Isaiah Thomas, Kobe, Bird, Barkley, Shaq. Once we put this 5, after already dominating and killing the opponent on all aspects of the game, these ruthless Monsters will just finish them. The last 2: Iverson, to bring a fancy but killing touch, and Stephen Curry. I don't like him, but, l've got to admit he's too good. I have a tremendous respect for him
Only thing about Kemp was too many turnovers and he let Rodman get the offensive rebound record in the finals twice in one series. Seemed like a raw athletic talent that could have used a little more coaching. That said boy could that guy play above the rim.
@@movieking4939 Also a good point. I remember that idea to trade Pippin for Kemp. Kemp might help a team win on spectacular plays, but Pippen was lots of preventative medicine. Again Kemp pulling 8 boards just seemed like he lacked fundamentals.. A great block and then fouling out trying to get the next one is just not efficient.or disciplined. That was just another big advantage to Jordan and Pippen. They were well coached and had great fundamentals. I can't ever remember them ever doing anything that I would regard as poorly conceived. like fouling out as you point out.
My starting 5: Magic, Jordan, Bird, Olajuwon at 4, Chamberlain. Bench: Oscar Robertson, Pistol Pete, Elgin Baylor, Bobby Jones, Sabonis. Last two multi-positional players: Bill Russell for 4 and 5, Clyde the Glide for 1-3. There's so many other possibilities: Dr J, Stockton, Worthy, Abdul-Jabbar, Lebron, Archibald, Sleepy Sam, Kobe, Curry, Duncan, Kemp, Sir Charles...
starting 5, C - Patrick Ewing, PF -Charles Barkley, SF - Dominique Wilkins, SG - Micheal Jordan, PG - Gary Payton, BackUp - Hakeem Olajuwon, Dennis Rodman, Robert Horry, John Starks, Tim Hardaway (Sr.) , Kevin Johnson, Anthony Mason...
that´s what i love about your videos/opinion: the depth and versatility! 5/12 players in common my 2K Dream Team is: Penny/Agent Zero, Jordan/Tmac, Hill/Rice, Grandmama/J.O´Neal, Dream/Boogie... also for fun D.Miles & S. Swift ^^ (only available in "myteam" tho)
Yo, M. David, You're Dream Team is really interesting. You choose guys we wouldn't necessarily expect, & I appreciate the diversity (i. .e. John Stockton & Larry Bird). And forwards such as Dennis Rodman, the North Korea traveller, is surprising too. All your picks are interesting & worthy (& I appreciate that you include would be all time greats save for the fact that they were wounded & incapacited too soon -- T Mac, Grant Hill & Penny Hardaway, et al). I like your originality, & the fact that you state, clearly, that it could well be different on the next poll. That being said, I felt that you messed up seriously in leaving out Kobi. I'm sure you'll include him the next time around, but still, the Kobe should be given his due--he's that great.
Love the list, great all around team a lot would pick there top "12" but that team wouldn't have much chemistry like yours would. Mine would be close but would have to have my 2nd favorite player behind Jordan "the pistol". Also Magic & Wilt have to be there but I would still keep Olajuwon and Shaq.
5:50 Guards AVOIDED Bill Russell - as they knew he would probably BLOCK them if they were stupid enough to even get SORTA close. No, it was NOT just Hakeem that could guard the guard during a pick-and-roll, out of all Big Men. I do grant it was RARE though.
Man I love your list bro . I got a lot of favorites that aren’t the best but I loved the way they played . 1. Jason Williams white chocolate 2. MJ 3. Bird 4. Rodman 5. Shaq 6. Mark Price 7. Mitch Richmond 8. Vince Carter 9. Barkley 10. Dream 11. AI 12. Larry Johnson
With the arguable exception of Bird, you’ve picked a lock-down elite defensive team here at every position. You also have elite mid-range shooters at every position other than Rodman, and at least two elite 3-point threats. The top rebounder ever, the top assist man ever, etc. But more than anything you have five psychotically competitive and prideful hustlers here with a ridiculous collective work ethic. Love your channel and this would indeed be a fun team to watch. Cheers!
I like this line-up.. how about making a what if line-up.. 90's and early 2k's line-up with stars that have shortened their carreer because of injuries.. e.g. Penny, grant hill and derrick rose..
My personal Dream Team... PG - Allen Iverson SG - John Starks or Clyde Drexler(can't decide) SF - Larry Bird PF - Tim Duncan C - Patrick Ewing BENCH Mitch Richmond - sg, sf Jim Jackson(Ohio State!) -sf, sg Anthony Mason - sf, pf, c Derrick White - pg, sg, sf
Definitely, gotta have Magic Johnson in there, other players who didn't mention that would have made my team is James Worthy, Chris Webber, Mitch Richmond, Gary Payton would be back up PG, otherwise good choices, I would have Kareem on my team too.
100%. These are my starting 5 as well. Im always kind of on the fence about Rodman or Tim Duncan but decided on Rodman because his presence and ability to rebound and play his role perfectly. With Jordan, Bird and The Dream you got the offensive end covered. Rodman and Stockton make the perfect fit as facilitator and back up to the big 3.
You have a great list and it is hard to argue your list overall. These lists are always fun because it is not something written into stone. Here is my list. Starters: Stockton, Jordan, Bird, Karl Malone, Shaq Bench: Hakeem, Magic, Steve Smith, Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady, Rodman, Patrick Ewing And if I had to pick new school players of today's era....Lebron James, Jokic, Giannis
My top 5..magic..6'9..10 plus assists a game...Mike at sg..The greatest 2 way player..6'6 215 44to46 inch vertical..sf..Kd.. 2nd option on this team as a scorer..7 ft can shoot from anywhere..pf..Timmy..center..Prime Shaq lakers..

Magic Jordan Bird Barkley Olajuwan Isaiah Kobe Pippen Elvin Hayes Wilt Stockton Bernard King That's mine. I was tempted to throw in Reggie Lewis, Mitch Richmond, Kareem or Petrovic.

I was never a big Clyde fan for some reason. His style seemed very herky-jerky to me, and his shot was weird.
@@bradleyboyer9979 I was and still Is a massive Jordan fanboy, but I wont ever deny what all those players brought to the NBA
Who’s bogus?
@@MistaWordz Byrd was no longer healthy at '88 :((
Like him or not, he would be on that team for sure. At that time, his team was representing the Eastern Conference, and he was beating MJ, so MJ couldn’t keep him off that team, and not everyone had a problem with Zeke.
If it’s 88, I would put Dominique over Worthy. I’m also preferring Robinson over Ewing.
You're a 90s boy. Just like me. Love your Dream Team
PS when MJ dunked one went wow, but when Kemp dunked one went ouch!! the defender wasen´t humilliated he was hurt!!
Great job!
Love videos like this that aren’t the run of the mill picks. Good reasons for picking them and showing some appreciation to some that don’t get much
Totally agree on your Starting 5!! Stockton, while not super-athletic, had gigantic hands like MJ. Arguably the greatest defender, Rodman is the perfect offensive complement to 3 alpha scorers (Bird on outside, MJ in between, and Hakeem deep in the paint).
I have 5 of 7 different bench:
PG2: Oscar; SG2: Reggie; SF2: Pippen; PF2: Mailman; C2: Admiral.
Reserve11: Barkley; Reserve12: Giannis.
Lebron Steph kd Tim Duncan and hakeem clear
Love your picks , the only change I'd make is kemp for rodman , better offensively amazing slasher and good mid range jumper ! Otherwise, chef's kiss .
I used to listen to Sonics basketball on the radio while going to bed, first with Bob Blackburn and later with Calabro. The amount of times the latter had to say the word Olajuwon every game was simply astounding
Talk about a guy who filled up the Stat sheet!!!
Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Scottie Pippen are my starting 5. I have Dr. J ,Bill Russell and Pete Maravich coming off my bench.
Magic,MJ,wilt,Kareem , Larry bird starting 5
I have a tremendous respect for him
I love your channel and the fact you love Mike. I am not gonna dispute your picks, cuz they are all deserving !
PG - Payton
SG - Jordan
SF - Bird
PF - Kemp
C - Hakeem
PG2 - Stockton
SG2 - Kobe
SF2 - Wilkins
PF2 - Duncan
C2 - Shaq
#11 - Hill
#12 - Miller
Strong considerations: Drexler, D.Robinson, Magic, Penny, Pippen, Wade
Very very very great dream team...just need another place for sir Charles Barkley. Everything else is well deserved. Good choice my man
Love it! Ya, lets pick favorites not greatest today. Isiah, Magic, Bird, Robinson, Hakeem (Mark Price, Nique, Laimbeer, Malone, Mullin, Mookie Blaylock
I agree with your top 5. The only change I would make is magic for Stockton
Only thing about Kemp was too many turnovers and he let Rodman get the offensive rebound record in the finals twice in one series. Seemed like a raw athletic talent that could have used a little more coaching. That said boy could that guy play above the rim.
The other problem with Kemp was he seemed to always be in foul trouble.
@@movieking4939
Also a good point.
@@gwynedd1 was it fundamentals or desire to do more than just scoring?
My starting 5: Magic, Jordan, Bird, Olajuwon at 4, Chamberlain. Bench: Oscar Robertson, Pistol Pete, Elgin Baylor, Bobby Jones, Sabonis. Last two multi-positional players: Bill Russell for 4 and 5, Clyde the Glide for 1-3. There's so many other possibilities: Dr J, Stockton, Worthy, Abdul-Jabbar, Lebron, Archibald, Sleepy Sam, Kobe, Curry, Duncan, Kemp, Sir Charles...
Great list. I’ve got the same starting 5 on mine.
Love your picks Sean David! Team Kemp always!!!
Rationally: Magic, MJ, Bird, Duncan, Russell. Then emotionally you can pick any formidable players you eant
You always have great, heterodox picks! Why I love this channel and agree with your taste.
Fantastic list 🔥🔥🔥
My NBA all time team :
Magic - MJ - Hakeem - Duncan - Bird
Penny - Kobe - Shaq - Rodman - Dr. J
Pippen - Garnett
starting 5, C - Patrick Ewing, PF -Charles Barkley, SF - Dominique Wilkins, SG - Micheal Jordan, PG - Gary Payton, BackUp - Hakeem Olajuwon, Dennis Rodman, Robert Horry, John Starks, Tim Hardaway (Sr.) , Kevin Johnson, Anthony Mason...
Clyde the Glide was on Houston when they won in 95 I don’t consider him a roll player
that´s what i love about your videos/opinion: the depth and versatility! 5/12 players in common
my 2K Dream Team is: Penny/Agent Zero, Jordan/Tmac, Hill/Rice, Grandmama/J.O´Neal, Dream/Boogie... also for fun D.Miles & S. Swift ^^ (only available in "myteam" tho)
Yo, M. David,
You're Dream Team is really interesting.
Solid choices man. I’d have to have Sir Charles in there over Rodman and Magic over Stockton but I’m good with the rest.
Gawd yes. You are smart
5:50
Guards AVOIDED Bill Russell - as they knew he would probably BLOCK them if they were stupid enough to even get SORTA close.
No, it was NOT just Hakeem that could guard the guard during a pick-and-roll, out of all Big Men.
I do grant it was RARE though.
Man I love your list bro . I got a lot of favorites that aren’t the best but I loved the way they played .
1. Jason Williams white chocolate
2. MJ
3. Bird
4. Rodman
5. Shaq
6. Mark Price
7. Mitch Richmond
8. Vince Carter
9. Barkley
10. Dream
11. AI
Cheers!
It was the 93 all star game when Shaq hit those moves lol
I like this line-up.. how about making a what if line-up.. 90's and early 2k's line-up with stars that have shortened their carreer because of injuries.. e.g. Penny, grant hill and derrick rose..
Hey Shawn, could you please make a video of your defensive and offensive Dreams teams ?
Awesome team. I agree with all. Love your reasoning and choices you made.
Stockton, Rondo 1, MJ, Kobe 2, Larry, Pippen 3, Dirk, Garnett 4, Hakeem, Shaq 5, Manu and Iverson.
Love your starting 5! Mine would be exactly the same...
Except, i would have Duncan or Malone at PF.
My personal Dream Team...
PG - Allen Iverson
SG - John Starks or Clyde Drexler(can't decide)
SF - Larry Bird
PF - Tim Duncan
C - Patrick Ewing
BENCH
Mitch Richmond - sg, sf
Jim Jackson(Ohio State!) -sf, sg
Anthony Mason - sf, pf, c
Derrick White - pg, sg, sf
I'd go with Duncan
Grant & Hardaway out, Barkley & Carter in.
You have a great list and it is hard to argue your list overall. These lists are always fun because it is not something written into stone.
Here is my list.
Starters: Stockton, Jordan, Bird, Karl Malone, Shaq
Bench: Hakeem, Magic, Steve Smith, Grant Hill, Tracy McGrady, Rodman, Patrick Ewing
And if I had to pick new school players of today's era....Lebron James, Jokic, Giannis

LOVE IT!!…swapping only Vince for McGrady, White Chocolate for Hill and the Human Highlight for Giannis( my kids would kill me for that one)!!🤣. Can u IMAGINE the abuse that run would take!!!
It's not the best Team but a Team with great defense, I like that. And I love that you add Shawn Kemp.
I like your list. Would have picked up most of these players myself.
OMG this is a almost perfect 12 players team. Tbh i would just change shaq for wilt but hey, amazing team bud. And plz give love to Shawn Kemp. That man was one of the most exciting players to watch in that gold era.
solid picks although 90s biased. I'd sub Majic for one of the 90's wings.
Nice to see your opinion yours team are hustle with one word I love your startig five gut job !
You nailed it
Id change Duncan for Kemp but everything else sounds good, level headed
Duncan was boring good, Kemp is box office good.
This was a fun little exercise. My picks are pretty similar:

For me: Stockton, Jordan, Bird, Duncan, Olajuwon, with Kidd, V Carter, Nowitzki, Webber, Shaq, Ewing, And Starks.
I had to include John Starks. My favorite player as a kid.

Nevertheless how personal is your list ... not even 1 list in the history of basketball shouldn't be without THE LATE GREAT KOBE BEAN BRYANT - THE BLACK MAMBA . His approach to the game , his mindset, his preparation for the game , his obsession for training and being the best player he can ever be . Love your videos btw .
Bro i love your starting 5. Its actually so close to mine. I would start stockton jordan bird rodman and moses malone cause i want to watch prime moses malone and prime rodman fight for rebounds and hakeem and duncan would be my bench as my 6 and 7. 😊🤘
Best Nba You Tube Channel... ❤
Totally agree with your list, thanks for leave a certain someone out.
Why not do a video of players that can rival the 1992 dream team? I think that would be pretty dope.
