Best Team EVER - The 1985-86 Boston Celtics season was the 40th season of the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). They finished with the best record in the league at 67-15, including a 40-1 record at home (37-1 at the Boston Garden, 3-0 at the Hartford Civic Center). Those 40 home wins set an NBA record which would only be matched by the San Antonio Spurs in 2016. Widely regarded among the greatest teams in NBA history, their 67 total wins were one win shy of tying their franchise record of 68 wins set in 1972-73, and tied for seventh all-time for total wins by a team in a single season. Larry Bird won his third consecutive MVP award and Bill Walton won the Sixth Man of the Year Award. The team was anchored by the "Big Three" frontcourt of Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, which is frequently ranked among the best frontcourts in NBA history. In the playoffs, the Celtics swept the Chicago Bulls( MJ never defeated Bird as a player) in three games in the First Round, then defeated the Atlanta Hawks in five games in the Semi-finals, before sweeping the Milwaukee Bucks in four games in the Conference Finals to reach the NBA Finals for a third consecutive season. In the NBA Finals, the Celtics faced off against the Houston Rockets in a rematch of the 1981 NBA Finals, which the Celtics won in six games.

So many errors and lies , i don't know where to begin. The 96 bulls did not have any 40+ game win streaks. You left off a boston team that won 8 titles in a row and u called Vlade Divac (vlad deevack) and Toni Kukoc (que-cock)
Glad to see so many surprised '86 Celts not on the list. The team had 5 HOF players on it. One loss all season at home. Maybe the greatest passing team in NBA history. C''mon man.
Old teams would never prevail today. Any team where the center stood under the basket for the entire game, would get 20 3-second violations. Too many rules changes for the earlier generation of champs to adapt to before illegal defense, before 10 second rule. Todays champions won't be time travelling back to Wilt, Oscar, and Russel. Otherwise todays champs wouldn't have a chance with that eras champs. No bridging of that gap makes trying to compare impossibly inaccurate.
I call BS... No top-5 list of all-time NBA teams should be without the 1971-2 Lakers. How could you overlook a team with Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich and The Logo (Jerry West)? And I didn't even mention the 33-game streak...
Actually, Elgin Baylor retired during the season, right before the 33 game winning streak. Still, I regard the 1971-1972 Laker team as the best ever. Sad that Elgin Baylor is the only Laker jersey hanging in the rafters without a Title
Whenever a statement is made with a top 5 teams, or the best at whatever it maybe, it will be questioned, especially when the statistics don't support that statement. I question it because it left off the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers who won 69 games and went on to win the NBA Title that year. The 1972 LA Lakers also won 69 games during the regular season and the NBA Title. The only teams to exceed those two teams where the 1996 Chicago Bulls with 72 wins and a NBA Title, and the 2016 Golden State Warriors which won a record 73 games, but lost in the NBA Finals. The NBA has been in existence since the late 40's do some real research before making statement which cannot be supported with accurate stats or data.

Great team, not the greatest of all time. Top 10, but I'd put them outside the Top 5. You forgot the most important part to that team, though - Alex Hannum, the ONLY coach to ever win a championship against the Russell-era Celtics - and he did it TWICE, once each with 2 teams.
All the teams you listed were no doubt great teams, but what about the 1972 Los Ángeles Lakers? That team that reeled off a 33 game win streak during the season. I am a Cavaliers fan by the way.
You cannot ignore the Boston Celtics in the 1960s with Bill Russell. I find your video and choices to be ludicrous for ignoring Bill Russell and the Celtics. You sounded like JJ Reddick. I also don’t think you can ignore Larry Bird and that era of the NBA. Without the transformation brought to the NBA by Bird and Magic the NBA was headed toward oblivion. Like Reddick you know the statistics but ignore the larger picture and the heart, skill and quality of the different eras of the NBA. This video was awful.
Just for fun. Take every team considered. Take away their best player, then ask yourself which team is the best team without their top player. The 96 Bulls probably are not top 20 without Jordan. That is a little unfair because the Bulls had Jordan the undisputed goat, but if you want to measure the talent of the rest of the team then think about it.
IKR. I was a Lakers fan then and that team beat the lakers six times. 2-0 regular season..4-0 finals. I don’t understand why that team doesn’t get any love. They were dominant, powerful, basically unbeatable that season.

At least you got number 1 right
What about the '69 Celtics with Russell as player coach who came from a 3 to 1 deficit and won the title?
@roberteckardt6653 Um, no. CELTICS were down 3-2 having lost gm 5 in LOS ANGELES. The C`s won evey game thereafter.
1983 philadelphia 76ers
So many errors and lies , i don't know where to begin. The 96 bulls did not have any 40+ game win streaks. You left off a boston team that won 8 titles in a row and u called Vlade Divac (vlad deevack) and Toni Kukoc (que-cock)
C'mon man no '85-'86 Celtics!?!?! What???? I'm a Lakers fan but there's no doubt that '86 Celtics team deserved to be on that list.
As does the 87 Lakers.
@@mirtos39 agreed 💯
No 86 Celtics no list! An absolute monstrosity!!
pick any one of the bulls championship teams and then tell me 1 player other than jordan who would have started on the 85-86 celtics.
85-86 Celtics
Glad to see so many surprised '86 Celts not on
the list. The team had 5 HOF players on it.
One loss all season at home. Maybe the greatest
passing team in NBA history. C''mon man.
*or woman

Your missing 1972 Lakers,1986 Celtics,
1985-1986 Boston Celtics team dominated everyone.
So did the 1986-1987 Los Angeles Lakers
@@ComeQuicklyYeshua agreed. id honestly put either of those in top 3, and theres a good chance that they could have dethrones the 96 bulls.
Some rare wisdom on the feed
86 celts 40-1 at home cmon man ,greatest TEAM ever ,what a crap list
It's just someone's list Brian.
@@thesportingblog23 it’s Chewie I am a dog and I know the celts belong on that list 😉👍
YOU MESS UP LIST !!
Can you point everyone to your Top 5 pls? Let's get the debate going!
Look at all of the Hall of Fame players on that team.
Who really wants to play against the 2000-2001 L.A. Lakers ? That team was loaded with talent.
Actually, Elgin Baylor retired during the season, right before the 33 game winning streak. Still, I regard the 1971-1972 Laker team as the best ever. Sad that Elgin Baylor is the only Laker jersey hanging in the rafters without a Title
Sorry Baylor was not part of that team

86 Celtics #1.
Stop telling people what to do. It's not very polite.
@@thesportingblog23 I don't tell people what to do, I make suggestions. When I make a suggestion it's for the benefit of that person or group. When you make a statement make sure it can be supported with facts.I love the game too much to see flawed or incomplete presentations as this was.
67 sixers won 68 games. it was a great team but it's hard to compare teams of that era given that there were only 10 teams in the league back them. no question great team but hard to argue top 5 of all time. keep in mind the 72 lakers had the record 33 game win streak that still stands to this day.
@@bb55555555 Sixers did win 68 games in 1967
@@bb55555555 There were more than 10 teams in the league by then.
For those people who think i 86 Celtics, remember 95-96, 96-97 Bulls was the only team in the history of NBA to win more than 140 games in regular seasons plus of course NBA champions.
Uhh yea YOU DUMB
1967 76ers were the greatest team EVER, Wilt ( Hall of fame ) Hal Greer ( Hall of Fame ) Chet Walker ( Hall of Fame ) Luke Jackson , Billy Cunningham ( Hall of Fame ) Larry Costello ( Coach Hall of Fame ) Wally Jones, Coached by Alex Hannum ( Hall of fame coach) 68-13 Then the Wilt Chamberlain 72-73 Lakers ( 2nd Best Ever ) Now Start the Debate

Bruh, two Bulls teams? I’ll take the 99 Spurs over the 91 Bulls. And the #1 team should’ve been the 16-17 Warriors. They had to make the best team ever to stop my boy Bron
No Phila? 67 (they beat the Celtics) or 83 (12-1 in the playoffs)
@lukasfontana7589 KANGAROO KID participted on both team as a player & coach.
WTF made this list? I hate the Celtics, but that 86’ team could be the best all time. No 83’ Sixers, they were stacked.
My personal top 5, no order.
87’ Lakers, 96’ Bulls, 83’ Sixers, 86’ Celtics. 17’ Warriors.
The writers name is in the original article.
Now that’s a list I can appreciate.
The Lakers 1987 championship was their 17th? That's not even close! It was their 10th!
Nor was it their second in a row. The champions prior to them were the 1985-86 Celtics (who should have been in this spot). Finals results are below.
1986: Celtics defeated Rockets in six
1987: Lakers defeated Celtics in six
1988: Lakers defeated Pistons in seven
1989: Pistons Defeated Lakers in four
Use a sports almamac instead of relying on your faulty memory.
I just have to say, the mispronounciation of the Kings players' names is laughable.
I’m a huge laker fan, but how can this list not have one of those mid 80’s Celtics teams on here? But who would they replace?
Whoever put this list has no idea the NBA existed before 1989
The 2000-01 Lakers were the #2 seed in the Western Conference. The San Antonio Spurs were the #1 seed that year
The pronunciations of names had me dying 😂😅
Best team of all time with MJ PIP,and Rodman.

There are actually 2 or 3 other teams that deserve to be in the Top 5 as well: the '67 Sixers, the '83 Sixers and gotta give a nod to the Red/Russ Celtics dynasty.
The 1986 Celtics are the best team I've ever seen.
Bulls had a tough matchup against the knicks in 91-92 with that knicks team led by Patrick Ewing, Charles Oakley and Tim McCormick ??? Seriously
McCormick does not fit among any of the other players highlighted on any of the teams.
Best team of all time 76ers with Wilt, Hal Greer, Wally Jones, Luke Jackson, Chet Walker and Billy Cunningham.
Yes Sir....props to all of them
All the teams you listed were no doubt great teams, but what about the 1972 Los Ángeles Lakers? That team that reeled off a 33 game win streak during the season. I am a Cavaliers fan by the way.
Good suggestion!
Wow no Celtics? Im a Lakers fan and I know better than that. Fo Fo Fo Fo Sixers? Wilt chamberlain and Jerry West
2002 Lakers and 2003 Lakers MVP: the refs.
Christopher, we'd gladly watch your video and exchange notes. Let us know where to look!
Did we forget about Luc Longley?
I'm not saying he is a superstar on the court but he was the Bulls starting center and played his role.

71 Lakers with THIRTY THREE straight wins!!
