    Words can't describe how steep parts of this hill climb are! And after days of rain, there was almost zero traction on the slick clay.

    One downfall about Toyota's is that you go out in the morning thinking today I'm gonna be out the whole day having fun, but then you climb all the hills and cross all the river so easy and you are back home midday. Whereas on a jeep you gonna be out the whole day struggling and something break and a dog almost die and you get wet and roll.

    I gasped a bit in the beginning when he was rolling back down and it looked like it was going to go sideways and he was going to flip it.
    I hate how cameras can never capture the steep angle.
    what kind of tires is he running?

    • @TorrentialReign

      Yeah it was a little sketchy the first time i rolled back down the hill! I missed judged which rut i was in. And definitely, its difficult to get across with video how steep a track is... looks easy in the video..... The Cruiser is rolling on 35x12.5" KM2 mud tires.

      Yeah it’s a pretty daunting track! I’ve ridden down it on a motorbike as well, and that was tricky simply due to be being so damn steep.

      Yeah it's an awesome climb. Both lockers were on and working perfectly. Maybe if I'd lowered the tires more (was running 16psi)... But ultimately it was a case of, once u'd lost momentum there was no traction on the slick wet ground.

      In this situation, lower wheel speed = more slick clay stuck between the tyre lugs. And every time I tried 2nd gear it ran out of puff and stalled. So 1st gear and plenty of revs was the only option. There was no way to slowly drive up this track in the wet... Too steep and slippery.

    Just advice, just be patient on the track. From my experience, I just roll that in slow becouse I know the tyre mt will full of mud and its easy to lost pattern and traction. Hi rev engine just made it worst and adding unnecessary mechanical damaged. Maybe u need upgrade u low gear, beadlock n tyre.

    There was no need to punish your vehicle like that, correct tyre pressure, correct revs, twin locked and reduction gears would have seen that climb much easier. All those revs and you risk major mechanical damage, let alone the damage you are doing to the track.

    • @TorrentialReign
      @TorrentialReign  7 років тому +1

      The climb was a lot steeper and slicker then the video shows. I was running 16psi, and f&r diff locks engaged. Early in the video I tried 2nd gear but ran out of puff, so 1st gear with plenty of revs was the only option. Yes, gear reduction may have helped, but prob not by much.

    Very good car, very bad driver. Here is a very important tip since apparently you did not do it. Its a rule besides being logic, for ur safety that once you cannot continue further on a steep uphill like ur first one on the video, as soon as the car stops moving forward, if you decide to go back-words you immediately engage the rear gear and let the vehicle go backwards with engine break. Very lucky that at your first attempt the car went only at a certain safe degree and leaned against the side of the road otherwise... you would have rolled. I hope you read this message and save who ever u drive around....

      That explains my confusion on the other video.
      I have 43% reduction gears (Marks) with 35's. It is a good ratio set up but yours being a Toyota, you might need a different ratio. You seem to be over working the old girl a little. Reduction gears might be your answer.
