Foxy brown was a teenager at the height of her success. Yes, she’s the blueprint but she should have been in high school and everyone around her at that time needs to be questioned.
Imma 96 baby. I’d say the “hood girl” aesthetic doesn’t seem fake to me-it’s just mainstream now lol. & better examples of real hood rappers would be The Ghetto Twins, La Chat, Gangsta Boo, Khia, Trina, Princess Loko. I was born & raised in Memphis & Glorilla IS MEMPHIS 38127. lol (im 38128) No faking. She’s genuine.
I don’t think Sexy is faking it tho. I think if anything she’s just trying to capitalize off of what initially made her famous and trying to replicate that initial shock raunchiness and trying to put it at the forefront. Someone made a video and idk if it was you or someone but Sexxy Redd really never thought she was going to make it to the heights she has. The industry definetly trying to milk her for all she’s worth, but I don’t necessarily believe there is an agenda…
Wait that’s such a good point, about her never thinking she would make it this far but she has. I need to find that video. If anything, I don’t blame her for collecting the check! Hopefully she doesn’t get too lost in the sauce.
As far as Glorilla and Sexyy Red goes, i don't think it's forced bc you can pull up videos of them pre fame, literally being the same person! As for Latto, she gives me the same vibes as saweetie! their version of "hood" be giving New New from ATL vibes. A lot of these girls try to mimic who's popping at the time instead of being themselves.
Sexyy Red is not the only one from the hood who is authentic this Driding has to stop🙄GloRilla and Doechii are also from the hood and authentic to their styles😬There are plenty types of hood FYI Sexyy is not the representation of all the hoods she's just one type of hood just like GloRilla is another type of hood😑
@@sauvagereb Sexyy Redd represents ST LOUIS kind of hood, which is way different from Tampa hood and Memphis hood. If you ever been in St Louis, you would see over 50 sexyy redds on one block
@@90ssenpai Don't worry I agree with you that's what I was trying to explain actually😅Sexyy is hood from STL and Glo is hood from Memphis so 2 different kinds of representation in the whole US👍🏽
Especially given her circumstances prior to fame. St Louis is rough and running a hairstyling business in your neighborhood can only take you so far. The talent is sparse but the ambition is there!
What i liked about foxy is that she always looked and remained beautiful and classy with the right amount of spice in her aesthetic. And not revealing too much it was all about her attitude that added to simple looks
Born in 1996 and grew up listening to Missy Eliott. Still do, but I didn't even realize how sexual ALOT of her music is until I was 16/17 But no one wanted to listen to her, they only wanted Nicki Minaj 😭
@757Princess their teen years were in the mid to late 2010's. Missy's last album by that point was 06 (or around that time) Nikki was literally everywhere and the only female hip hop artist most people were listening to at the time.
@@raineb7448 yes. STL is hood af. & sexys music has literally always been just like it is now. She didn’t switch anything. Enough people just finally started to care & here we are.
Sexxy Red is authentically herself but she also knows that people like her so she emphasizes on it. I also do think it's diffrent regionally. Being from Alabama Sexxy Red represent a lot of girls I grew up with. Living in NYC you could make a case that Ice Spice represents that because she is a Bronx/gritty NYC girl all day. City Girls represent the Miami girl. I think fashion wise, Sexxy represent SOME of the midwest fashion like the Lou and Chi girls wear. So, fashion is regional too. Lotto is BIG COS PLAY she lacks identity and is easily swayed by the internet. Also, there aren't a lot of real stylist out there. Being someone that has been in fashion in NYC for over 10 years, the change has been drastic from actually having a stylist to influencers styling you...Another coco for another day...
A pro I'll give the new gen is that the imagery centers more women then men. In a lot of older videos, it would be a girl being surrounded and ogled by men. Now with Meg, Glorilla and peers they tend to make it more about girls just having fun together and expressing their sexuality at the same time. It's all relative. If the hood aesthetic is ultra sexual now, that's bc most imagery in popular media tends towards sexualization and "putting it all out there". Lil Kim, Missy Elliot and peers got away with what they could for the day they were in.
I’d say hood and sex.. and gloss up is one of them. Her image now is way different ! I seen a video recently of hers and I said “she been acting like this !?” It was so jarring . I think she should’ve stuck to the hood mom hustler aesthetic and give some sexy but not “this somebody mama !???”
I miss the days when Foxy was out! I do like a lot of the new girls though but I think a lot of what we see is really them but I still feel like I don’t know them on a personal level because it’s not a lot of substance if that makes sense
It’s gettin old n tired and boxes the artist in to 1 niche audience. You gotta class it up eventually. And they wonder they’re all floppin lol. It’s not likable. It’s a turn off. It’s the reason why Ice Spice lapped em when it comes to opportunities. She has some sort of class about her. She’s presentable. At least Sexy Red feels authentic. Latto really makes me cringe.
this hood image gives fake. the kids are just copying Sexy and Glorilla now with the BBLs and glue down lace fronts. it reminds of prison documentaries for some reason 😭😭😭😭😭😭 iykyk
It's getting bland and boring! 🙄 It's like using a photocopier with the nowaday rap artists, just... Meh! Dojo Cat is good, I like her "Woman." song and "Paint The Town Red." song but... Hm... Yeah.
It’s all antics in my opinion IRL women from the hood or “hood” women don’t do too much talking about being from the hood. It’s something in the energy that gives ghetto Barbie and you love it and respect it, period. lol
Idk why Latto is on the thumbnail, she's said in multiple interviews now how she's grown. Each album is like an era, and the past super ratchet constantly bent over twerking is over she said she's moving beyond that and doing more grown sht now. Mind you, yes, there is still the occasional twerk of the Georgia peach but definitely not like it used to be. Can't group her with sexy red overkill sht. Ntm she has actual talent 💯
It's odd because you're almost just assuming they're "authentic" that's the issue with these videos it's just which puppet has more stings attached to it, none of these people are "real" or "authentic" just listen to independent artists instead of these celebrities you guys treat like idols or scapegoats to live out your own generational escapist fantasy of femininity that's handfed to you by hedonistic abusive executives that don't actually care about black women in the first place. Like, legitimately most of these people you look back on are "products" it's all manufactured and based on networking.
Since I grew up in Memphis and knew who Glo was before the fame I can see how everyone think that it’s force but that just how she truly is Sexyy is a opp I don’t believe she is happy doing this if you look up her videos before she wasn’t even like that so I feel like she is paid to put on a show
I know the ratchet asthedic is going to fall off eventually as much as I love Megan and cardi and stuff but the twerking gets boring and even ice spice is proof of that she don’t even oook like she like to twerk anymore and the fact that Doja cat has definaintly gotten less popular and doechii isn’t that popular right now I think we are gonna get tired of it eventually and go back to like authentic female rap music but for now ig not

Yea I watched a documentary about her come up in the industry and it's sad how she was being raised by grown men who were not her relatives!
YUP
@@RamboQuellzwhat is the name of the documentary? I want to watch it.
Well, it seems to me like out too scared to question Jay- Z . He met Beyoncé at fifteen as well, by the way.
I wish you would’ve talked about CupcakKe. Aside all the sexual and down bad lyrics, she sells a genuine hood girl aesthetic with some fire bars.

The difference is lyricism, older female artists knew how to say it in a tongue & cheek way where as now its "mask off"
Sexy redd has been the same since before she got famous. She’s true to stl and I think it’s the same for glorilla and Memphis
A lot of what sexy does now she’s done for years. She has songs that got popular way before poundtown. it’s just only new to ppl outside of stl
