I had this done last week. It works. 4 years of pain gone in less than 5 minutes. I can feel the muscles start to tighten back up, but then again, this was only my first visit. Definitely worth checking it out.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Johnny, thanks for the feedback! I have addressed the Gua Sha question several times, so feel free to scroll below. The main differences are in the effectiveness and resonation of the metal tools over stone tools, and in the training, for which there is little for most Gua Sha practitioners. Cheers!
Good point Wrangler. So much is overlooked when it comes to fascial work.
Representing for Bozeman MT, Born and Raised!
Mild bruising can occur and is dependent on several unique factors, including the areas treated, the chronicity of the problem, and the physiology of the patient.
Actually, an enhancement and improvement of basic gua sha principles, with superior treatment tools and strokes. Thank you for your interest!

Similar, but not the same. This is because, there are two different layers of fascia, and different types of myofascial work stimulate differing physiological changes in the tissues! Great thought.
Thank you for the insight! Good luck
Hello,
Pro Chiropractic I really like your video!
Can I make little a suggestion that can helps get your video found by more people looking for this kind of information?

thank you for following!
Great technique for stiffness and muscle discomfort. Very similar to Gua Sha if your Chinese or Gow Yaw if Vietnamese. Been around for centuries.
you are correct! it is the western interpretation of a long-practiced eastern approach!
The level of pain depends on the level of acute or chronic injury. It can hurt a bit, but is not agonizing.
Please visit our office or visit graston technique online to find a doctor using this technique close to you!
That looks so good
It is great!
It works...check out my other videos and my website
Thank you Dr. j.W. and to all those that offer any kind of soft tissue treatment from negative pressure massage cupping, active release, Rolfling, Graston, John Barnes Myofascial release release, Honey massage, hijama/bekam, etc. You help alleviate pain and dysfunction. Chiropractic has expanded so much and has had to fight to show its efficacy. The allopaths have a hard time thinking outside the box, it's sad. Everyone is needed and must do their part to modify human life. Separation with no c

I will..Thank You !!!
You are welcome!
A full exam, including dual inclinometric range of motion testing, precedes any treatment. Learn more about our exam at the link above!
in this case it was around the lower half of the shoulder and the right side of my low back..these areas were always really tense and knotty feeling..I want through a deep tissue massage professionally several times and never really got any improvements..now I can say that I have an injury to my right shoulder so that could have something to do with it but the knotty feeling I ve had has been consistent for a few years before the injury.
Thanks for commenting
Once you felt the treatment, you would agree that it would be nearly impossible to have a placebo effect with this type of treatment. A placebo implies that there is little or no musculoskeletal or physiological effect, this type of manual therapy produces physiological change....please refer to the above studies!
As far as your issues with Acupuncture, please refer your criticisms of that to an Acupuncturist. I do not practice that modality. However, something that has lasted as a healing modality for that long, should be given some credence.
Please review this. Hope this helps. Thank you for the feedback.
Regards,
Dr J

Very smart chiropractor. I went to chiropractor he was only adjusting for 1.5 years no use . My chiropractor doesn't know about GUA SHA massage . He didn't help me only with adjustment . Found out after 1.5 years about adhesions
Thank you for this feedback! Soft tissue work is soooo important to be combined with chiropractic adjustments! We love that you are following and responding!! Dr Jon
I want to get this done. I have muscle tightness in my right trap after cracking my first rib a year ago
Did you? And how did it help?
If you close your eyes, it sounds like Owen Wilson is working for pro chiropractic!!!!
it actually felt good when it hits the area where you are having pain. In my case it is also the left side of the neck.
Exactly!!
Hey thanks....but I think the light reflecting off of the Graston instrument blinded you :)
thx for responding, thats what i'm looking for NO Medical doc's visits, have to find a Chiro that specializes in this... Cheers....
💯💯💯
I had this done to me yesterday and it is very tender and sore today. And I have a lot of bruising or I guess it is what he was talking about in the video. It worked pretty well on the bottom of my foot and I thought had helped with my neck and shoulder. But it is very sore and hurts to touch today. Is this normal?
It is not necessary to bruise profusely to have an effective treatment with Graston Technique!

Gua sha practitioners don't use exclusively "stone" tools and the training involves many years of TCM and acupuncture, moxibustion and other modalities. Gua sha is a very sophisticated method although it seems so simple. I have seen it being used in Beijing hospitals successfully.
Most typically, Gua Sha practitioners utilize jade stone tools, but traditionally, other stone, bone, or animal horn tools were also used.
This techniche has been around for centuries and is more correctly named Guasha. It really works
Yes, traditionally, stone, animal bone, or even animal horn tools were used. Jade stone tools are the most common in eastern medicine.
Where do you get the metal tool at??
GrastonTechnique.com, and there are many other places that manufacture tools as well now
very interesting
✨️✌🏽
How often should you be receiving this type of treatment?
+GreystreetNY Typically 2 times per week for 6-8 total treatments. Thank you for the question.
I find it extremely painful during the technique (especially when the device slides over those fibrous bunches) 😬because my tightness has been there for decades (scoliosis), but afterward the tight, "short" areas are stretchy and loose and the pain is gone. It has done wonders for straightening my posture over time.
The skill and experience of the practitioner can really make a difference in how you feel during treatment!
is it as effective on overweight people? is it more difficult to get down to the muscle?
Super effective! And it is more about freeing layers to glide, so it is good for all shapes!
Believe me it feels different than Sweedish massage, and the results are MUCH different :)
I’m curious - can this damage/aggravate lymph nodes?
You never know. I'm wary of many chiropractic practices. Even if it has helped me a bit in the past. I did, however, refuse an adjustment on my cervical spine. I don't trust people in that area.
Lymph nodes are quite mobile and held in soft tissues, so this is highly unlikely. However, this is why a certified professional should perform this technique.
More like an improvement :)
Is it normal for bruising after a few days in the areas where the scar tissue is being broken up?
Yes, some petechia or bruise can be normal
It works....real results without pills or injections.
I am also sorry that you have obviously made up your mind before considering the validity of the treatment! A couple of important points, there is nothing "Chiropractic" about Graston technique. It is used by medical physicians, chiropractic physicians, physiotherapists, and skilled athletic trainers. It is utilized by the US Olympic team at their training centers, and by a whole host of professional sporting teams. In fact, Michael Phelps credits Graston as the main tool in his recovery.
Loghmani MT, Warden SJ. Instrument-assisted cross-fiber massage accelerates knee ligament healing. Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT). 2009 Jul;39(7):506-514.
The fundamental approach of Graston is a bit different than Gua Sha, and there are many similarities.
did it work ?
Yes. Significant relief of chronic neck pain, dizziness and headaches!
along with that fee is basic training and advanced training, testing, and certification, after a minimum of 6 months use. A big deficiency I find is in the training that most Gua Sha practitioners have. And that training is typically buy a set of tools and start "trying" them out. This is a scary prospect. Patient beware! Question your practitioner on their training and expertise. It WILL make a difference in your results!
They are not the application this is intended for. You should consult with your dermatologist.
I am hurting just looking at this! It looks more like torture
+ThePearsall1 if you are fortunate enough to find a skilled provider, you will find that this treatment is quite comfortable, and has terrific results!
+ThePearsall1 It can hurt, but I find that the more pain you can go through the more relief you feel later. It's like a deep tissue massage where they work out knots, it's stressful-but you feel better
It actually feels amazing.
Some areas are more comfortable than others, but overall, in the hands of a certified provider, it can be quite pleasant!
It's good pain though!
A properly trained professional is your answer. I have ran into several untrained massage therapists who read an article, pick up a set of tools, and pretend to themselves that they are experts. That should scare you...not this treatment in the right hands.
Underneath it all...we are all the same ;) Of course it works!
Does this hurt? I've tried traditional gua sha and it hurt like hell.
No, it is quite comfortable
Not so bad
This is basically Gua Sha (a Traditional Chinese Medicine / Acupuncture technique). Works like magic.
There are a few differences. But more similarities.
HAHA....Literally :)
Active release is great, but certainly is not the ONLY golden ticket of myofascial therapy. Try not to drink the cool-aid too quickly!
@MrAllgreen25 And doctors are usually to arrogant and uneducated to focus on the importance of fascia. This is simply a form of quick myofascial release. And it's hard to test fascia when doctors can barely if ever image it. It's impossible in most cases. Most docs simply believe that muscles are key when it's just fascia giving its shape, internally to externally.
Yes, fascia is so important
Please refer to the research below, and spend some time researching myofascia. Your comment, while appreciated, is generalized and shows a clear lack of understanding of the treatment, anatomy, or physiological changes involved. Basically, everything you said was incorrect.
No drug testing is required for this procedure.
so how did someone just rename Gua Sha and call it their own technique?
Cool
✨️💯
A Western medicine adaptation of a traditional eastern medicine approach.
that looks painful. at least good results at the end
Mandy Sharp some discomfort is quite worth it if healing and function result! Thank you for your kind feedback.
this doc is HOT.
Thanks for watching!
Looks painful to me, perhaps not!!
Hi Stephanie, it does look a bit aggressive, but it is actually quite comfortable and so effective!
it this BS or does it work for a sore shoulder and golfers elbow from too much weight lifting ? whats the truth on Graston tech ......
It works.
I AM CERTAIN HE BEGAN WITH A RANGE OF MOTION TEST
A proper evaluation always proceeds soft tissue therapy.
🫶🏼
Looks somewhat like swdish massage therapy with tools.
Not exactly
