I remember my dad talking about the battleship that sank with a load of Corsairs in the hold. I believe it sank in fresh water so there was no corrosion on the planes too, but they only retrieved like two or three because of the expenses required for the salvage. The rest are still waiting down there, rotting away under water when they should be up in the sky. What a pity.
I wondered for a number of years what it would look like to fly a corsair. To be honest, I still want to know how it feels like, but I doubt I will ever have that chance. Thanks a lot for this awesome video!
Short of getting the cash to buy one, try a VR Flight Sim, very immersive, turn on all the realism and you appreciate how much Pilots back in those days had to do.
Just so...just WOW!!!! I love the Corsair!!! Used to build models of it a lot when I was a kid! Seeing this video really shows me what it’s like to be in the cockpit! What a dream!!! Thank you for posting this!
Wow. incredible! It makes a great impression. I can only imagine how during the war they must have made a colossal fear while fighting :) Thanks for sharing!
Brett, thank you for the positive feedback!! I try really hard to make the best audio and visual documentaries of aircraft and trains. Sometimes I also feel not enough people see my videos. 🙂 You are welcome to click the share button or add to personal playlist.
@@UniquePhotoandVideo I did ... and I shared it to my Facebook page ... I got a bunch of views, but people just don't think to click the like. I'm looking there, and you have almost 6,.000 views and only a 151 clicked like. There's an entire novel about social media right there. And who would give this video a thumbs down? Again, great job!
I really wish someone would do an in depth version of this video. Kermit Meeks does a series of helmet cam videos where he takes you through preflight walk around, then a cockpit tour, then startup and a short flight while talking you through every aspect. How he’s doing things. What he’s looking at on the gauges during startup. What speeds and rpms he’s flying at. But Kermit doesn’t have a Corsair... so someone needs to start picking up the slack.
I greatly appreciate the feedback! I'm always looking to improve my videos. I wish I had more time to plan this particular video. This video was coordinated near the end of the airshow, minutes before takeoff.
@@UniquePhotoandVideo I completely understand. I just worry sometimes that people underestimate just how nerdy their fans are. Hahaha. We want to know everything
@@danielmeans4954 Yeah if there's anyone who doesn't want to watch that kind of thing...well there are 5 second fast forward and 10 second fast forward keys for a reason
How accurate is the field of view seen here in regard to what is actually seen by the pilot's eyes? Is the distance and space viewed almost the same with the naked eye or does the camera lens alter it giving the "fish eye" effect?
The camera had a wide angle lens, the human eye has approximately a 50 degree FOV. The camera provided additional peripheral vision. While it's not 100% the same view as the pilot, you do get to see more of the cockpit and formation. Great question! 🙂 Your profile photo reminds me I should make more train videos. 🚂
@@UniquePhotoandVideo Thank you for your kind reply and very sorry for my tardy one! Yep, Even though I'm a pilot, I don't think I'll ever have the chance of being in the cockpit of one of these wonderful birds, I can only content myself with flying them in a simulator, so I try to adjust the field of view as close to reality as possible to get the "virtual" feeling. Trains are my other "machinery" love xD, I'll check your great vids to see if you've been able to make new ones.
One of the Corsairs had my 360 camera on board. Sadly the camera overheated and powered down before the aircraft taxied. It would have made an awesome video!
I appreciate the comment. The camera was mounted on top of the pilot's helmet. Cockpit unfortunately did not have any mounting points to secure the camera.
There's only 2 thangs missing, the smell of aviation fuel and wind.....loved the video

Great to see Gerry Becks Corsair back in the air again
I hate I missed this airshow with all these F4U models...Loved this view ...
It was an excellent show! Glad this video made your day better! 😀
I could watch this everyday and not get bored. Simply amazing.

Would love to see some of these bad boys flying around in Montana!!!
Wonderful video and a truly beautiful aeroplane both in looks and sound.

Thank you for this video!!!! It's now one of my top 10! Only 130 likes? Not enough people have seen it!!!!

Would be even more interesting to hear you talk about flying in formation and what speeds you fly at and how it’s all done

Awesome video! Would have been nice to hear the comms between the pilots though.
Thank you Dale! I appreciate the positive feedback! Comms would have been cool!

@@UniquePhotoandVideo Have your filmed in stereoscopic VR, that is the best way to really feel like you are there.

Unfortunately I don't have stereoscopic VR capabilities. For this video, the Go Pro barely fit between the helmet and canopy. 🙂 Great question!
If you want an experience like this use your oculus quest with warthunder vr

What speed was the Low Pass
Honestly I'm not sure exactly. Online post suggests 95-100 MPH for safe approach.
fully take off 16:10
Well not FULLY
