Had one of these as a kid to play with in the park when we used to go for a walk as a family in the '80s'. It was a brightly coloured thing also powered by a rubber band. It was great but, in the back garden we would play with it for 1 reason. It drone our cat wild! Thanks for the memory!

For anyone saying that they don't have materials, i made mine with paperclips and string only (and superglue). The mini version is the best for me because i just like it to fit into my backpack to troll my friends
Wow! Very realistic, impressive design. We had an R/c dragon fly that was so realistic that flew in a similar way to birds - like your ornithopter did. We found out real birds actually tried attacking other people's toy dragon flies (not ours though). Your ornithopter reminded me of that toy. Unfortunately, it wasn't built to last. I hope your design will last you a lot longer. It had to have taken a lot of time and patience to put it together. 🙂😎

I have to tell you how impressed I am... you are REALLY talented and obviously incredibly intelligent to do all this! And you must have an amazing amount of patience and dexterity to be able to do such intricate work with such small parts! Awesome job my friend!

Try using only 2 rubber bands, if possible reduce the Wingspan by 10/15 %..You can also consider implementing a EV version by using a mini DC motor & a Tail control unit by using a basic 2 channel RC setup. A Ultimate implementation...use Hollow Carbon pipes & Carbon Cloth. To Cut expenses & also improve Strength & Stability of the wings use 45 gsm Glass fibre mesh as the base for the Wing ( ofcourse you will need to stick the thin plastic sheet to the Glass fibre mesh ). Have you tried making it with a 3D filament printer rather than wood for the body. Might make it lighter if it can handle the stress of the elastic band when torqued up.

não voou e sim plainou, faltou um detalhe nas asas , como nos passaros tem que as asas só jogar o ar para baixo , para corrigir isso era usar as varetas das asas para cima e o plastico embaixo e com uma parte solta para o ar passar,como em uma valvula que deixa o ar passar só para um lado, os passaros fazem isso com as penas que se movem quando a asa sobe e fecham quando desce.
Precisaria, tirar a pressão quando as asas sobem , pois empata quando descem , ficam se anulando , deveria quando subir, subir em um ângulo mais vertical, isso exigiria mais um mecanismo, mas é possível de ser feito.
