Old time rock and roll is like America's national anthem. It is uplifting and fun what a great song

He does have a southern rock sound, but Bob Segar is from Detroit. He grew up listening to Motown. This is why his music has this heavy R&B influence. He uses a Motown style horn section.

I believe this was recorded in The Mussel Schoals studio and those musicians added that southern flair.

@@jerryparks6123 That's all southern rock is. It's Delta blues, and all southern rock bands did was change the tempo and rearranged it. Hell, The Allman Brothers admitted they did that.

This song was in the film, "Risky Business", starring a young Tom Cruise in an iconic scene. Tom is wearing a white dress shirt, sunglasses and a pair of aocks. You see him sliding across the wood floor while he is lipsyncing. Bob has so many great songs and many are used in many movies and commercials. The aong, "Like A Rock", was used in a truck commercial. Today's music is really sad with atuotune and lack of soul. Funny how this song still applies today, when it came out Bob was referring to the recent popularity of disco. Disco🚫Sucks.
Check out Bob's song, "Night Moves", it tells a good story. ✌❤🌹

Oh back in the day when you listened to radio in the car…sitting in a crazy long line to get into an amusement part…this song came on and the lines of cars cranked it up, opened their windows and hundreds of us were singing as loud as we could!!! Cedar Point in Ohio!

_"Today's music sucks, music from my day was better"_ -- pretty much everyone in the history of ever
And here we are, 40 years later, praising the music from that era. Yeah. "The beat goes on." HEY! There's a good one to listen to, 1967 classic from Sonny & Cher.

I just recently started listening to Big Band era stuff, and ya, in a way, it was better. Rock and Roll is to Big Band as Punk is to Rock and Roll. "They don't even know how to play their instruments" was probably said in every new era of music going back to Mozart. If we consider Mozart to (arguably) be the pinnacle of music, then maybe all those previous older generations WERE right?

Even if rock isn't your thing, the message easily translates to any genre whether it's country, rap, jazz, r&b. The older you get the more the music you grow up on is always better than the new stuff kids are listening to.

One more song that proves Bob Seger is the man!!! Many years ago he played 2 shows in Memphis and both shows sold out in just a couple of hours. R & B and Rock and Roll have a common ancestor, and that's the Blues. Blues all about the feelings. Chuck Berry took blues music and changed the time signature from 12/8 to 8/8 and invented rock and roll. He also deliberately had a strategy to write songs for everybody, so he sat down and decided there were three things everybody could relate to: romance, school and cars. The Beatles listened to Chuck Berry, Little Richard, all those early Motown groups. Music has gotten definitely polished and packaged, but has lost that basic heart and soul.
