I attended the Sept. 16th game there, and the renovation is a huge improvement. The reason overall capacity was reduced somewhat is because the newer sections include not just the high-end suites but also seating that's much less jammed together, making for better leg/elbow room for the fans' comfort. And Beaver Street is very cool. Overall it makes for a fun, fan-friendly experience in a stadium that gets VERY loud when the fans let loose. Yeah, the travesty of conference realignment has dealt a bad hand to OSU (and to WSU). But the Beavs' investment in their facilities should have a positive long-term impact on the program, come what may.

It is a great upgrade from Old Reser and Parker, but is still needs bench-bleacher seating in both endzones so less wealthy people can afford to show up. In the 1960s, Parker Stadium had a bigger seating capacity. With Smith as coach, why not be able to add 20,000 or more bleacher seats?

Because they can't sell that many tickets. The largest crowd Smith has seen at home during his coaching tenure was just over 39k against the Ducks in 2018. For 4 of the years he was head coach, there were at least 4-5,000 empty seats in every single game. Unfortunately, the demand just isn't that high

fyi, there are still bleacher seats on the south side, and they also sell lots of standing room tickets for beaver street and the terrace. Plenty of options. Personally glad there are real seats all over now, bleachers suck.
