We had a Opel Astra 1.6 petrol in dollars the family for 14 years. It was a gem of a car ,the build quality, ride and power was amazing I remember my dad hitting 180kmph on NH4. Just Loved the design of the car too really miss it 😞 . Thanks motorbeam for a refresh down memory lane
Really bro even i had a peugeot 309 in white colour with VIP number. But due to unavailability of spares i sold it. But in my life i had never seen such a sedan Its performance was just awwwwwwwwwsssome.
My parents had one in France. Peugeot is the first car ever from the XIX century. A piece of history. Hopefully they will come back to India. They do makes benefits now.
From today I first started watching the contents of Motor Beam and I am thankful to the team for making this type of vlogs where we are able to commemorate the past and the cars which were available for sale at that time.
Oh my!! This is so nostalgic and funny to realize that cars I completely disapprove of their looks today, was mind blowing back then. I was swooned over Opel Corsa and Astra. And I guess, Astra would still get my heart racing today. Such a heavy and sporty looking car. Sure, I was a kid and the only way to get my hands on them was to sketch them on paper. And I did. It’s sooo amazing to realize Indian automotive market was so global than it is today. Companies would bring most of their products that were also on sale in international market. Stations wagons were sooo popular back then which nobody likes today. I guess, the only body type that never got popular was truck based pick-ups like Ford F-150.
My grandfather once owned DAEWOO NEXIA second hand back in 2003 after selling his old Padmini. Nexia was a very troublesome car so we sold this in 1½ year and bought a brand new MARUTI ZEN LX in 2004 and this is still with us running superbly on highways and city with zero problem till date.
My father had Peugeot 309 GLD (Diesel). It's a sheer pleasure to drive such beauty. However, we have to sell it last year because of the maintenance issue. The spare parts are not available in India. But it's a beautiful machine!
During my childhood Standard 2000 was my dream car. One of my dad's friend bought the Red colour car but engine was replaced with the diesel engine....... I have seen all the cars mentioned in this video including rare montego rover
I booked Sail, but canceled it in favor of a newly launched Ford Ikon Flair which was a sedan and just a little more expensive.. It’s 17 years and I still have my Ikon and it’s very much looking like it’s going to be with me for one more decade, thanks to the current situation/economy !
