Feel the most macho introduction of a cartoon ever
And does it in an epic booming announcer voice.

In India, we grew up with 70’s cartoons in the 90’s, cable tv wasn’t around before that. So much nostalgia.
The Centurions was aired in 1986.

'Rugged land operations specialist' is a cool thing to have on a business card.
It is , pat Bateman style .
What I want to know is when they refer to 'rugged' land operations specialist. Are they refering to the land that is rugged that he is surveying or is he a rugged man? If its meaning his prowess then they could not of said anything as macho as that. Almost as if they had of said 'grizzling' garden expert or 'chiseled' farm master . The description is proper , proper macho almost comical on an will ferrell Anchorman level

And if you're lucky you'll keep waiting! Can you freaking imagine what today's Hollywood would do with the Centurions?! The CGI would be awesome, but what shall CGI profit if the characters are oversensitive wimps and Doc Terror is just misunderstood or else it's the Centurions' fault he's like he is...or worse.

Jake Rockwell -> Rock (stone) -> Land
Ace McCloud -> Cloud (smoke) -> Sky

This show has some serious muscle behind it's art direction. The character designer worked on a lot of famous anime also as a key animator on shows like Gatchaman, Casshan, Tekkaman, character designer for Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors). This show was gold star grade entertainment.
The animation still holds up very well. I never realized the anime connection but now I see it. It explains a lot actually. It continues to amaze me how underrated this show was at the time and never got the credit it deserved to be mentioned alongside the GI Joe and Thundercats of the world.
Jack Kirby and Gil Kane also helped designed their exo-frames and the general premise of the show
for those curious, the animation studio behind Centurion's action sequences is Sunrise studio 7, who made this 2 years after Centurions' completion; m.ua-cam.com/video/eHiwy6VCL0o/v-deo.html&pp=ygUWb3BlcmF0aW9uIHJ1Ymljb24gMDA4MA%3D%3D

I'm a 90s kid from China, born in 1992. I was lucky to have watched this animated series during my childhood, and it was really good. After school, the first thing I did at home was turn on the TV to watch this show. In China, it was called '正义战士' ('Justice Warriors'), and they said 'power extreme!' in Chinese, which was '神力无敌!' ('Invincible Divine Power!'). When I was a child, I used to shout '神力无敌' ('Invincible Divine Power!') when going to the bathroom. These memories are truly precious and filled with happiness. However, it was unfortunate that the show got discontinued due to the NATO bombing of the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia. It disappeared completely from Chinese TV, and they didn't even finish broadcasting it.
Golden days in childhood..Every 4pm I saw the cartoon network like sky commanders,Power rangers, He-Man, Centurian,Duck tales,GI-Joe, tintin, Jonny quest ,Swat cats etc....😍😍😍
There were many other cartoon shows like Birdman , Captain Planet

I am amazed by the work done to remaster this series! I wish each and every WB Ruby-Spears/Hanna-Barbera release had this level of work done. The amount of detail you can now see, the clarity, the colors! I wish honestly there had been a blu-ray release!
Thank you WB, for remastering Centurions!
Thank you for the kind words!
Very welcome! Udi Harpaz did a great job on this theme, and the series' music overall. I wish that somehow, someway that there could be a compilation soundtrack release.
That said, if there's even a small chance, I'd do everything and anything I could to help bring it to fruition.

This is one of my favorite shows ever and nobody talks about it. Yes, I loved Thundercats as much as the next kid or more, too, but this show...this show fascinated me as a kid looking up to men. Men with toys. Men who are manly men. (And those twin towers...man.) it still fascinates me to this day. And Ace McCloud. Ace is the reason I fell in love with planes and my dream as a kid of becoming an Air Force pilot (not Top Gun surprisingly). The special effects still hold up, too. What an amazing show.

Yeah, same here. Thanks to cartoon network I was fluent in English at the age of 9.
Centurions, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, Dinosaucers, Denver the last dinosaur, Power Rangers, VR Troopers, Xmen, Spiderman, Fantasic Four, Batman, Gummi Bears, Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Voltron, GI Joe, Transformers, Rugrats, Doug, Ren & Stimpy, and many others not listed were my childhood. Man do i miss it. Now i get to share this with both of my children.
Anytime they shouted POWER EXTREME, it was an echo, the camera would rotate around each one of them one by one as their equipment was fused to their suits. The sound the weapon systems made as they fused with the exo-frame, while each Centurion was standing in the beam is the shit us 80's kids lived for!
Yer man P,P,Power Ex,treme (extreme, extreme) . My question to all was how in the furrreakinghell did they manage to clip all.the exo suit parts when standing next to poeple or in a built up area. They are in the toilet or wherever , were does the stuff start flying in from without taking a few heads off. Someone's going to come along and science the shit out of me with the old 'scotty beams it across ' or its dimensionally sent
@@bruh_oly1370 I think people got desintegrated. And it's fair enough, people dumb enough to not get out of the way when some random guy in an exo-suit yells "power extreme-me-me!" deserve to die.

Centurions really rocked, Shame we don’t have more these days
William Woodson's vocal narrations always gave cartoon intros that extra something. Side note: I used to sometimes get him confused with Gary Owen's. But Owens has a deeper voice.
When I was a kid, Id always see them as Scorpion, Subzero and Reptile respectively to their colors during they wear them helmets. 1994 when Snes was still a trending console.
Brings a tear to my eye seeing so many mention swat Kats in the comments
don't forget about captain planet, centurion ,and johnny Quest Adventure "the VR" one, and the pirates of the dark water...those cartoon made me a real Man
Captain Planet Power Rangers Ninja Turtles Thunder cats
Several little things made this one of my favorites. Back in the day when you'd always have the hero stand still while performing his entrance, this was one of the few that gave a reason as to why the villains didn't take the free shot. In that the beam that sent them their equipment was a also a kind of shield.
And also that human failings was the reason for Doc Terror's inability to succeed since the two parter where his AI supplants him the robots start trashing the Centurions until Ace is the last one left. Which was a decent lead up to them deciding they needed two more members...and more toy sales options.
Wow you must have eidetic memory!
I just barely remembered flashes of watching this, it's a miracle I even managed to find the title of the show. At first I was thinking they transformed into vehicles like the Transformers, but then I remembered they had vehicle suits and that's how I found it.
Not going to lie, I’ve spent a total of about 3 years looking for this cartoon.
@hoodle101 No dude, that was Inhumanoids, which was cool and was about the same era of great afterschool cartoons! There was one big monster thing that would capture the good guys by imprisoning them in it's ribcage haha. Aaah, the 80s
