+Sedivh Katuros Robots are not similar by the looks. In that anime, if I remember right robots if I can call them that where alive not box of metal and moved differently then robots in pacific rim.
+Sedivh Katuros In that case I agree. :D Usually when I look at comments in pacific rim videos everyone always says that it is copy of evangellion. It is like no one can see difference. Either way I just love that there is more mech movies and anime to watch! :D
Sedivh Katuros Ah... just went through my anime list. :D Well I don't know if you will like them because Evangelion is on different level in terms of story and plot but my favourite are Broken blade(Break blade) short but interesting anime and then Infinite stratos (2 seasons and I loved english translation because then you can hear french german and other dialects ) and Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut (came out this year and similar to infinite stratos but with different story) both of them are mech+harem :D. Schwarzesmarken came out this year. I haven't seen it till end but it looked good. I know that many people like Code geass but I haven't watched it. If you want I can find more mech. There should be more somewhere in my saved anime list.
They said the plot would be about what would happen to the Jaeger tech when Kaiju are no longer a threat. But I'm pretty sure midway through the movie Kaiju come back in some other breach in some other ocean. That's just a prediction though.
I want a Pacific Rim Zero telling about the years of fighting around the world! There are a lot of jaegers which were not showed in this movie! Please Guilhermo, my english is bad but I know what I want to watch.
Not just that, but a Kaiju's cells record every moment of its existence when it goes through the breach. Their masters are watching and studying how the Jaegers fight. If Cherno Alpha has 6 kills, that's six times the Precursors have studied Cherno's abilities and tactics.
Nop, is inspire most on gundam and all the anime of that time. There's a video with del toro visiting the Gundam Museum with the actor that made Mako (the child too).
The mechs in this movie definitely belongs in the "real robot" category. If you don't know what that is, google "real robots vs super robots." Gundam was the first to introduce and popularize the "real robot" genre so all "real robots" were inspired by it. The Eva series is not even about the giant robots, the only reason why the robots were there was cuz mechs were popular in Japan; you can say the reason why Eva even had mechs was to just capitulating on the popularity of Gundam and Macross.
lol no i dont think so. but everyone has his point of view. Just listen what says del toro " i wanted that robots was ANIME inspired but we didnt talk about the source". And there is is nothing commun with real robots definied by google search. Maybe i wasn't right quoting only Eva series but you dont eithier talking about real bots. But i find something u may agree with ^^ dailyinfographic.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/PacificRimGraphic.jpg
***** Most of the similarities are staples of fiction in general. The world banding together for the common good? Been done a million times. A background council of world leaders attempting to pull the strings? Again, it's been done. The only exclusive similarity is the pilot telepathically linking to the machine, but that's a similarity in concept alone. The execution is still extremely different.
So glad I was bored one night while on business travel and picked up my ticket at a small two screen theater and saw this movie.... so awesome!!! Can't wait for another!
+AnyOtherName LikeMashugana I see it this way. The ship wasn't a sword, but rather a baseball bat or club. Blunt weapons are good for knocking other things around. And let's face it, that's what Gypsy was doing to that beast, beating it senseless.
I read somewhere that Pacific Rim is based on Neon Genesis Evangelion ... for me it seems quite logical, the story is somehow a little bit like in NGE, at least the principal with the enemies coming from "somewhere else" and it is known how much there are coming ... and compare EVA 001 from NGE, the main robot, with Gipsy Danger here, they look quite the same ... maybe the Jaeger´s weren´t meant to look like anime robots, but i always see it like that :D ... and yes mechas aren´t so popular in western cultures, they were a famous genre in anime long before it became famous anywhere else in the world. Sorry for my eventually bad english, actually i´m german :)
Well after Gipsy was destroyed, they show news footage of the destroyed Jaegers from around the world, One of them was Romeo Blue, the two Mark 4's were confirmed destroyed in the novel along with the writer.
why did they repair the heavily damaged gipsy (mark.3) and not repair crimson typhoon it only lost the conn pod i dont think its so hard to get a new head on a jeager and its a mark 4 so it would be much more intellegent to do
Indeed, good sir, Guillermo Del Toro is a legend, a true craftsman. Personally I'm looking forward to if and when he turns an H.P. Lovecraft story into a movie or better still turns a Japanese anime into a live action movie.
Huke Chong Aah I see, the one piloted by her mentor. I wish it had a bigger role to play in the movie though. I probably like the design of the Australian Yaeger the best.
I saw this movie this evening and enjoyed it very much. Kaiju monsters and super robots have always been my idols from my very younger years as a Japanese boy. This is a big american movie full of love and affection to those heroes of our culture.
+Marblez3 It's an American movie, what you expect? If it was made in the UK, the UK Jaeger will be the hero. If it was made in Russia, the Russian Jaeger will be the hero. If it was made in Brazil, the Brazilian Jaeger will be the hero. Stop whining, it's just like that. The country the movie it is made will always be the winner.
What is it with people complaining about movies making their country the hero? Of course, won't you be biased to your own nation too? I know you would see your country as the... high and mighty, the ones to save the world from destruction. The American hero cliche is always there, and yeah it could get a little overused. However that's not what happened in PR. Technically it didn't matter because everyone just wants to survive and not to live under the fear of Kaijus. The American, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and every other country. The whole world stood at one side, to fight against the kaijus. If they haven't then nobody would've survived. This feat will never be truly be attained in reality, as long as the prideful, ignorant, arrogant, obnoxious, abusive, delusional, manipulative, and deceiving exists.
In relaity the building of 4 Yeagers would bankrupt the US. If you know anything about engineering...a project on that massive of a scale would #1 be caught up in research and development for 20 years. You'd have to draft schematics, blueprints, special weapons technology, find a secret local so massive that you would probably end up having to excavate large areas of land. You have to import materials, parts, and manpower. The sheer number of workers, labor hours, transportation cost, housing cost, food cost, fuel cost, etc. Keep in mind....all this I mentioned is before you actually start to construct one. Also the first one you build would be a prototype. You'd spend 2 to 3 years working the kinks out of that one. Then once you build a fully functioning one, how would you get it live action experience? Its not a human that you can send to boot camp. Id estimate to buid a 1 functioning Yeager in real life would cost probably 700 Billion dollars for one.
While under normal circumstances that makes sense, think of it this way. Suppose there is one company that makes the gigantic motors used in the Jaegers, and suppose you run that company. Are you gonna let the world be taken over by giant monsters, or are you gonna give a discount? And if you do charge full price, the government could just use the army to force you to give them a discount. It's the only way the army could be of any help against the kaiju.
I have to inform you that this happens in a fantasy world and perhaps they were already researching into the technology, previous to encountering the kaiju. Also no one cares about your genius engineering calculations these are goddamn gigantic f-ing robots smacking about kaiju, so just stop with your condescending oh-I-am-so-cool-making-fun-of-fictional-movies bullshit.
Maybe you missed the WHOLE premise of my post. The first two words in the post that stared my assessment were "IN REALITY".....So to streamline your response ill say this....If you read my post you would know that I was making a real world assessment. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
Yeah, because the Kaiju adapt. Look at the Kaiju that killed Cherno. Leatherback has the thickest hide of the Cat 4 Kaiju, his fists are massive weapons (very similar to Cherno's own fists). Otachi is fast and nimble (Cherno is not) and has acid projectiles to melt through Cherno's thick armor if Leatherback can't beat its way through.
He did make them look unique, he succeeded. Hat's off for the director

A Jaeger can use an OIL TANKER as a weapon their basically a walking fully weaponized army base
I really wish pacific rim 2 exist
gaming life 21 they're working on the sequel, releases 2018
Thanks for info bruh
Sir Meme I wonder how they will come up with. They closed the path...
They said the plot would be about what would happen to the Jaeger tech when Kaiju are no longer a threat. But I'm pretty sure midway through the movie Kaiju come back in some other breach in some other ocean. That's just a prediction though.
Trailers out here&there....
Thank you so much for making this movie!
Evangelion
vanthursday haha
we need a prequel showing the jager wars!
You mean the kaiju war?
@@EmiTheDarkLord yes
I want a Pacific Rim Zero telling about the years of fighting around the world! There are a lot of jaegers which were not showed in this movie! Please Guilhermo, my english is bad but I know what I want to watch.
There is a Prequel comic named Pacific Rim Tales From Year Zero
Your english is good, man.
1:50 Defientely GLaDOS
Not just that, but a Kaiju's cells record every moment of its existence when it goes through the breach. Their masters are watching and studying how the Jaegers fight.
If Cherno Alpha has 6 kills, that's six times the Precursors have studied Cherno's abilities and tactics.
1:50 I didn't know the Jaegers were made by Aperture Science.
lmfao didn't even notice.
Paddy Mc ur right
because it is the voice of glados(Guillermo del Toro is a fan of portal)
Paddy Mc I think we can put aside our differences, for science, you kaiju
I want a part 2 of this magnificent and interresting. I may've spelled something wrong, but Im Norwegian. What's your excuse?
I forgot to add ''movie'' after magnificent and interresting. Sorry :S
I wouldn't trust gladOS with huge fighting robots.
I'm 25 years old and i still love giant robots. This movie was my childhood dream come true.
I love pacific rim
the jaegers look like Eva serie in Evangelion. Inspired but not cloned ^^
But i find something u may agree with ^^

***** Guillermo openly stated that he hasn't seen Evangelion. So yeah, all the similarities are either coincidental or inherent to the genre.
*****
Most of the similarities are staples of fiction in general. The world banding together for the common good? Been done a million times. A background council of world leaders attempting to pull the strings? Again, it's been done. The only exclusive similarity is the pilot telepathically linking to the machine, but that's a similarity in concept alone. The execution is still extremely different.
After watching Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. . . .
Gypsy Danger's windscreen is clearly inspired by Kamina's glasses
Carlos Leon yup
I really cant see the similarities. The only mecha that i can kinda see having similarities to this film are Mazinger Z, Gundam and Evangelion.
I loved this movie, you guys did a great job on it.
I like Pacific Rim 2013 better than Uprising
the best film for ever
I wish we got more...the second part ruined it
So glad I was bored one night while on business travel and picked up my ticket at a small two screen theater and saw this movie.... so awesome!!! Can't wait for another!
My favorite Jaeger is Eren Jaeger!
I heard he doesn't like bacon....
simpsonfan13 yeah it's Burritos LOL...well that's from Real Steel :D
You sir are amazing!
Xenogion please fuck off with that shit
@@veroxeon1858 Oohhh are you an Anime Hater?!
Pacific Rim is inspired by Anime !
Or maybe you were mad about the Attack on Titan part.
All right. He MUST make an Evangelion's live action movie! Same crew please!
gah. that would be amazing
That or tengen toppa gurren lagaan ._.
why use a ship as a sword when they had a real sword that can cutdown enemies like butter??
+AnyOtherName LikeMashugana cause its hella cool
+AnyOtherName LikeMashugana dey don't know dey hab a surd
+AnyOtherName LikeMashugana they forgot they had it or is it new?
no it's not new they just forgot...
+AnyOtherName LikeMashugana I see it this way. The ship wasn't a sword, but rather a baseball bat or club. Blunt weapons are good for knocking other things around. And let's face it, that's what Gypsy was doing to that beast, beating it senseless.
I read somewhere that Pacific Rim is based on Neon Genesis Evangelion ... for me it seems quite logical, the story is somehow a little bit like in NGE, at least the principal with the enemies coming from "somewhere else" and it is known how much there are coming ... and compare EVA 001 from NGE, the main robot, with Gipsy Danger here, they look quite the same ... maybe the Jaeger´s weren´t meant to look like anime robots, but i always see it like that :D
... and yes mechas aren´t so popular in western cultures, they were a famous genre in anime long before it became famous anywhere else in the world.
Sorry for my eventually bad english, actually i´m german :)
1:49 am i the only one who thinks that sounds like GlaDos
it is the voice actress of glados
FUCK YEAH FOR ANIME!!!
Where is this man when you need him
Uprising was meh
Well after Gipsy was destroyed, they show news footage of the destroyed Jaegers from around the world,
One of them was Romeo Blue, the two Mark 4's were confirmed destroyed in the novel along with the writer.
pacific rim 2 please :(
Coming 2017. Can't wait!!!
daniel hawkins is it really I thought it got cancelled
2018
Hola pacific rim 2 me gusta mucho.
Os gusta YIPSI DENYER.
Do all the jaegers have GLaDOS installed or something?
Well, GLaDOS's voice anyway. They got Ellan McLain (the voice actor for GLaDOS) to voice the jaeger AI.
why did they repair the heavily damaged gipsy (mark.3) and not repair crimson typhoon it only lost the conn pod i dont think its so hard to get a new head on a jeager and its a mark 4 so it would be much more intellegent to do
Typhoon was unique. Have to find 3 individuals perfectly insync like the triplets. 2 wouldn't cut it.
there has got to be more triplets than those 3
#chinaonechildpolicy
+overlordSSCROP now 2
when did this happen?
Indeed, good sir, Guillermo Del Toro is a legend, a true craftsman. Personally I'm looking forward to if and when he turns an H.P. Lovecraft story into a movie or better still turns a Japanese anime into a live action movie.
I hope they make a Gundam movie
Am I the only one here that thinks of shingeki no kyojin? sorry can't help myself :P
Hmm cross over fight?
Cuz "Jaeger"? Yeahhhhhhh.
@@jeonlie3477 there is also that meme where Eren gets triggered by Akame ga Kill.
@@EnTiDDies
Haven't watched Akame ga Kill, so I don't get it.
@@jeonlie3477 Now would be a good time to check it out.

A Fate grand order watcher.
Anyone else heard the voice from Portal?
Yep
I don't even play portal and I recognized it xD
Hey GlaDos called she wants her voice back
+Endro X he was a big fan of portal, and i think he got in contact with valve if he could use a variation of it to sound "like" glados
mrdann42 yes, thats what he did
it's great how they have originality in making jaegers
have the guys who did this do live action Evangalion
Or (insert anime mecha example: tengen toppa guren lagann, mazinger Z, etc)
How can they not have designed a Japanese Jaeger?
They did. It's called the Coyote Tango, piloted by Stacker Pentecost. It was shown during Mako's flashback.
Huke Chong Aah I see, the one piloted by her mentor. I wish it had a bigger role to play in the movie though. I probably like the design of the Australian Yaeger the best.
There's also a Japanese Mark 1 Jaeger called Tacit Ronin, but he was only shown in the prologue for about 5 seconds
russian one looks like a famous Australian Ned Kelly
I saw this movie this evening and enjoyed it very much. Kaiju monsters and super robots have always been my idols from my very younger years as a Japanese boy. This is a big american movie full of love and affection to those heroes of our culture.
Of course the American Jaeger is the "hero".
The Australian Striker Eureka was originally meant to be the "hero" Jaeger.
+Stuart Hays Yep. But they thought it looked too "arrogant". Which makes sense, because, you know, Chuck's an egotistical asswipe.
This feat will never be truly be attained in reality, as long as the prideful, ignorant, arrogant, obnoxious, abusive, delusional, manipulative, and deceiving exists.
launch the eva
JUST GET IN THE DAMN JAEGER.
+indefinity Yeah! Cause Jaegers are way better and BADASS HEAVY METAL MACHINES!
Absolutely. Excellent point.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
setxboy you must be fun at partys...
They look better than the the ones in the second movie
Part 2 bruh idk how but make it

Cherno was incredibly powerful, yet it got crushed underwater... lel,

I AM HYPED FOR THE NEW PACIFIC RIM :DDDDD
the russian ones ai sounds like glados
owen RIGHT?!
Patrick's Pet Rock yeah
owen it was. Same voice actor.
If you wanted to make them different, you did a good job, I'm thirteen and it made feel like I was part of the action, great job, loved the movie
What soundtrack is that at 1:57 sounds so EPIC!!!
i no
Try "Double Event" from the soundtrack.
