odd how it's urumi's card that lets you freeze bullets when cirno had a whole game about doing that. eh, i guess cirno gets a disproportionate amount of love when it comes to certain touhou characters anyhow.
Honestly, I had the same thought when I was reading what the card did myself. Though I realized later that it's probably because Cirno already had a card from UM, that was brought over to here (it gives you an option that fires kinda like her shot-type in HSiFS) and ZUN didn't wanna change what Cirno's card originally did.
I've been playing again recently from a fresh file after you started trying to get all the cards again. I remembered how awful the RNG hell is. I'm very glad you are electing to do that as little as possible and just making sure to at least fight every boss once. Junko's card is a damn near requirement
Yeah, honestly I feel I get enough cards from all the stage retries trying to get every boss (both markets, the 4th boss took _forever_ to show up, and it's not like I beat her the first time I saw her at that). I'd be singing a different tune if I was just moving onto the next stage as soon as it was unlocked however, since those unlock _way_ before I fight all the bosses. Though if I were trying to get every card, nature of the beast, I honestly wouldn't do it until post-game. Considering the final card you _get_ and it's basically "For those of you who are sick of RNG, this guarantee's the missing cards show up!". And yeah, couple that with Junko's card and it would _severely_ speed up the process as well.
I honestly always found Junko's card insanely overrated. What use is starting at the boss if you have so little power and only 2-3 lives (Depending on if you took Minoriko's card)? It works early on when the bosses have easy enough patterns with not much HP, but starting on the 4th market? Yeah, no thanks. Don't get me started on how much space it takes up, 125% is ridiculous and it'll also force you to probably not carry as much starting power as you'd like. I'd rather get it as a card mid-run rather than from the start.
@@Iris_DescentOverrated... how exactly? Overrated assumes that the card is really strong and can easily beat the game for you Junko's card is for collecting cards more quickly ...It's utility I genuinely do not understand what part of that is overrated?
@@Iris_DescentThe utility is not in being *better* or more equipped - you are inherently not as equipped by picking it. It's the time savings you get from starting with it, or the resource swing of not dealing with later stage portions by picking it during a stage. You waste *so much less time* farming for items and sometimes dying along the way if you skill issue. If you find a decent build and practice enough on the boss patterns, you can get the remainder of cards in less time
... Ah, it's my turn to double comment today, didn't expect to talk about the combo so soon, I thought it was next week... I'm so glad you went over the Urumi + Aunn combo because it's very funny, but I actually had another combo in mind and you saw the other major piece of it - Suwako's explosion card. You see, not many things in this game combo with your shots themselves. You have very few equivalents to something like Binding of Isaac tear effects... Except for this one! Combine it with stacking as much of Ringo Dango Power as you can, it's easily your highest DPS without actives. It's really fun to watch yourself melt healthbars and mow down enemies
Actually tried that combo myself For stages, it is great For bosses, it's decent I usually stack Marisa Laser instead of Suwako explosion usually since that does marginally more dps, and when you play every stage with Jyoon's card (I really needed to spice this game up somehow, it's exceedingly dull for me without it) making sure you kill the high health fairies as quickly as possible is crucial
@@akenohononiku916Marisa laser is solid as well, but in terms of the stackable stats I think the potential highs are higher, because you can then combo with things like Saki's card (making 4 power not the threshold on bosses, now it's 5). Most equipment in the game is pretty subpar but as usual laser maintains high strength. Ditto for Seiran's missiles
17:15 Had the chance to own all the 3 light fairies at once for the memes. but no. You just had to be smart and rational with your choices. Tragic. (Then again, since you'd be running around dodging Banki's head, the full circle of fairy bullets might actually have accomplished something for the first time ever)
He probably won't do that Overdrive is pretty much just Lunatic, and Omega's just barely edging on being used to Hard atm Lunatic and above would be a huge jump
On second view, this game has a fair number of nice little details and character tidbits scattered throughout ~ It's just a shame that the game feels rather repetitive, in comparison to the other "stage" games of Touhou (like the photo games).
Roguelikes take a lot of time to program to make them fun And unfortunately, if what I've heard is true, ZUN's schedule is way too tight to make a fun roguelike
I'm sorry ZUN, but "Wheel Ghosts" is like the Twitter rebrand to X but in Touhou. I know "yinyangs" was just a fan name, but no one is calling those "Wheel Ghosts". Just like how Pokemon is now calling starters "First Partner Pokemon", please stop, don't fix what ain't broken. They're stupid names. Yeah, Chief Fairy and Big Fairy waves are very good for racking up Bullet Money, with their dense patterns. On higher wave difficulties it's even better, since they're denser, and fire faster, so you can get more waves in one magic circle use. Also I swear, I did say it feels like the 4th boss only shows up after you've defeated the previous three, but Sekibanki is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I've only ever seen her twice in my entire time of playing this game. Anyway, before going into notable cards, well, we already talking about the Triple Aunn + Urumi combo, huh? I like to think I was the one that made that combination popular, being that I made a video on that combination Day 1 which got a lot of traction. If anyone's spreading the word on how easy that makes the game, it's funny that it was me. Combined with the Miracle Mallet card, as mentioned, and grinding Funds is never a problem anymore. I actually 100%ed this game in 8 hours as soon as I got my hands on it. So let's talk about more notable cards that were seen but not gone over, and that aren't Drenched Giant Snake. Bursting Red Frog - Strict DPS upgrade. Pretty good. Princess Kaguya's Secret Stash - More Bullet Money from using the circle? Fine by me! Remember that Bullet Money at the end of a market run gets converted to Funds too, at a ratio of about 5 to 1. Sheep You Want To Count - Pick this up ASAP. What it does is end the market run entirely and give you a card, though you can only buy it in Black Markets, but I don't think they'll show up there until you get it at the end of a stage. And then obviously buy it in the real markets for a discount. The downsides of this are that unless you have a card from the end of the game, the card you get from using this to end the run is completely random, and without said endgame card, it can be a duplicate. And also the fact that it'll never be a card belonging to the boss, since, well, you never faced the boss that run.

A strange idea, considering that some characters got two cards (Saki)
RIP Kagerou, Waggysaggy and Sexybanki didn't invite you to the market

i absolutely love the flavor text of the cards in this game.

A balanced game

I prefer Wheel Ghosts...
I don't mind wheel ghosts
I think it's pretty fun
They don't look anything like Yin Yangs to me
If you look closely, it's just like a yinyang bullet surrounded by two sets of orbs
@Iris_Descent Yeah but like, we already have Yin Yangs
Misumaru and Reimu use them a lot
We still call the big Wheel Ghost miniboss from UM Jimbo though.
