@@georgebanuelos1 if they would buy the available upgrade parts for the hawks motor they would really wake that bike up. They have a lot of potential and still way cheaper than a comparable Japanese bike. We have local dealers that sell them already upgraded. I know a few people that have bought them and they’re very happy with them.
I got a YZ250 (which are more reliable than the Honda) and the way I ride it it ain’t lasting 20 years either 🤣 I’m talking rebuilds every 50 hours. But I race so yeah

Neither will the honda. Those short stroke race engines dont last long without proper maintenance and rebuilds every 100 hours if you ride it hard

I think for what it is the hawk was pretty damb good. Put a better exhaust and breaks on it and you've got a respectable cheap bike that can make you smile daily

@@scottziegler8094 probably dead for a dumb reason as well like a broken sprocket or bad wheel that is impossible to get. I've had many friends buy these for their grandkids or kids only to find that simple parts are very hard to get. In the worst examples, things like crankcases crack, likely from inferior metal. They just can't take any abuse.

I'd love to see you guys test a 30+ year old Honda Elite 250cc scooter vs a newer chinese 250cc scooter.
No competition. The 234cc twin is a rock solid plodder. Easily 50k without a rebuild. The three flavor of street bikes that used them are still on the road decade(s) after their lines were discontinued
That wasn’t a fair test for the hawk… It should’ve been paired against a Japanese dual sport 250, not a enduro racing bike… Just saying…

The best bikes are old two stroke RM’s, KX’s, YZ’s, and CR’s !!! I prefer an RM or KX but they are all great !!! 👍👍👍
And not just the the motocross bikes, we're talking enduro (MR, KDX, PE, and IT), street & trail (KE, TS, and DT), and play bikes (DS and MX).
I have a 2020 Hawk (non EFI) i got about a month ago and i absolutely love it for my first bike. Thanks to the guys on facebook Hawk 250 enduro owners for the help ✌🏻
Just out of curiosity what made you choose the hawk over a used bike like a honda or a gas gas?
@@thebrokenbolt3990 i cant speak for him, but i also picked up a hawk 250 in 2017 for my first bike. i paid $1300 for it brand new, but had to put it together. i did a bunch of research on the hawk and found out that the motor is actually a honda cb125 clone that has been bored over. the hawk250 itself is a clone of the honda xr125 if memory serves me. the used hondas in my area are going for over twice the price of a hawk 250, and i figured if im going to learn on something and probably mess it up, i want to spend as little as possible.. now having it for over 4 years, i can say its a solid bike. the only thing i had to replace was the speedometer. i went to a digital one that shows the gear you are in and the rpm's when the cable broke on the analog one. i didnt have to replace the rear sprocket, but i went to a lower tooth version so i could cruise at 55mph (speed limits in my area) without revving the bike out too much. i plan on either re-jetting the carb, or replacing it with a better one at some point. you get a lot of bike for the price of these. sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but ive been out riding my hawk (i choose it over the harley some times), and decided to look up some videos on it. its a load of fun.

If I may try to give advice, stand up when dirt riding/going over rough terrain. That should make everything a bit easier

I love the videos, but he doesn't really know how to pick a bike to compare the hawk to. Of course the Honda is going to be faster and better, although I have no idea how he got that for 1400$. I can barely find a rusted POS for that cost. The Honda is a true 250cc liquid cooled bike with aluminum frame, while the hawk is a 150cc big bored to a 230cc air cooled with all steel frame. A Honda 230 would have been a better bike to compare.
The Amazon bike is also a duel sport while the Honda isnt, even the brand new crf duelsport would lose to that honda because it is a proper dirt bike
@@zacharysmith7872 it might have, but it would have been a more fair comparison. A Honda 230 will make about the same power, less weight of course because most bikes are aluminum now. Other than about 60 pounds in weight, it would be a good comparison video.
I sold my 2006 CRF250X about 5 years ago for 3000. Idk why the value is where it’s at

Picked up 08 crf450R black edition for $1300.00. 60 hours. Works great. Greased everything up, changed oil, new tires, filter, chain. Good to go.

I have the hawk dlx, I'm an old guy that just likes to put around town (street legal). Works great for that purpose. Not an all out off-road machine, just great for around town and trails. If I was just using it off-road I'd go with a used dirt bike.

Great video comparison. CRF250R's can't be touched for under 3k around here now days. Bought a XP Titan on Amazon for 1500 delivered for a farm beater and something for gusts to ride. Yeah it's no Honda or Yami but throwing a $35.00 adjustable carb on the XP really woke it up. Like I always say; a day riding is always a good day even if you are on a moped.
Thats a great place to ride im from PA also and ride there. Reading Anthracite beats up any bike, truck, side by side or quad. With out skid plates on my bike i would probably end up with holes in my engine cases from the rocky areas.

Shoulda switched riders for each event also. Going down a tooth on the front sprocket for the Amazon bike would even it out a bit more also. Maybe a shock adjustment too? But that dress!!!!!!!!!! Dang he wears that well. Such a good fit! That's prom material right there. It really brought attention to his shoulders and neck line.
