Steaming out a long dent in the mahogany top of an old desk.

Excellent advice on the iron. Too late for me unfortunately but you might save some young fellow just getting started. Same goes for the blow dryer.

Yeah, we have all had our butts peeled by "She Who Must Be Obeyed". Touching her hair dryer is a capital offense in my house.

Is it unacceptable to try to steam out a dents like these with a lacquer finish? Will it ruin the finish instantly?
