Abella's moon-scorched form is the oddest for sure. I hadn't considered too much what potential issues of her own were going into the form since it seemed like it was the parasite that attached to her face. But after you pointed it out, it seems likely that her form is a self-defense of sorts. Being hit on and the attempted assault by Caligula it seems like the last straw was being attacked by the phalic-parasite. And as you said, the form was a defense mechanism by becomeing a male to escape. Mix that with a little bit of insecurity by working in a male-dominated profession and it definately makes more sense than it did when I first saw it.
I don't think that Levi's moonscorched lack of genitals is about him suffering S.A at the orphanage, but instead the fact that he was raised to be a perfect soldier. He was no mouth so he doesn't have to eat/doesn't has basic needs and no genitals because he doesn't needs them to kill or "make himself usefull" Levi views himself as just a living gun and that is what his moonscorch represents
This characters have suffer in insane amounts The pain I felt when playing with Daan and encounter Stitches for the first time, then he also found similarities in Needles and every clue like the symbol in the moldy apartments just feels like it's getting him away from some real answers. I haven't been able to finish a single ending yet (keep dying at the sewers or any dumb way really) but it just hurts, I also got attached to Marina and Levi, and I loved your interpretations for every character it just makes a lot of sense. They have a lot of work for being able to show so many and different backgrounds, worries, trauma and yeah I'm in love with the game. Thanks for so amazing content
With abella I feel like her being muscly is because of she works in a male dominated industry back in the time the game takes place and I think she’s kinda been merged with a parasite similar to the woodsman but hers is one of the most mysterious ones
I mean, Daan's life WAS orquestrated to be a tragedy by Rher just so he didn't explore more of the occult, that is why pocketcat is always fucking with ya
Maybe it’s just me making excuses because I like Daan so much, but I don’t think Pocketcat is his true Moonscorched form. I think somehow his past either made him a suitable host for Pocketcat or got Pocketcat’s attention. Pocketcat is leveraging Daan’s imminent change to get the body sooner rather than later. Just in Day 4 Pocketcat doesn’t have to be so nice about it. This is one of the few things we are likely the learn more about. I’m like 99.9 percent sure Daancat will be in Funger 3.
@@user-gothicwing I could see that. Though I have trouble imagining Daan joining Sulphur for anything but information. 90% of what Sulphur does as a cult just seems to be making Daan miserable…
My interpretation for Abella's transformation is a bit convoluted First the whole face thingy: Abella naturally moonscorches on the first day of the Termina Festival She finds the hatch and explores the underground Considering her background and mission, she is one of the most capable of the contestants to activate Logic and is one of the first to get close to the first telectroscopes My theory is that the traces of Rher or the sulfur cult followers (maybe even needles) interfered, though i think Rher alone makes enough sense, for that i would need to talk about The Woodsman The appendage of the Woodsman is actually not confirmed to be a parasite or something that evolved out of himself, so for the sake of this argument let's say its a parasite He is also one of the few enemies that can be reasoned with, he will even help the PC at the cost of Tanaka's life, there is also a bit of background about the death of his wife and his more than active part in the slaughter of villagers. This dual nature could be explained by the parasite fueling his rage to kill others and his previous personality and memories of his wife sort of fighting each other. Of course he might have been a piece of shit from before the festivals following certain dialogues from the villagers. If we assume that parasite was meant to specifically force him to embrace the Festival or to moonscorch him faster due to his usefulnes or previous reluctancy to participate, this same method could have been used with Abella, specifically so she wouldn't activate Logic considering how fast she was getting to one of three telectroscopes needed to open the white bunker The transformation it itself: First of all, i am aware that moonscorching beyond 3 day limit and party tower events is the same design despite not following my logic, i would simply say this is because an entire new form or different head might be too much work for something that's ultimately not noticed by most people, so with that out of the way.. I think the musculature of her moonscorch form is based around the form she needs to have for others to be useful, specifically her comrades in her background, she needed to be a stronger figure to justify her spot in something much bigger like her mission was, and she had to make an effort for her image to not be everything she seems to be able to offer, although i like your version better What i can add is that the "Doomsday trumpet" attack is also possible related to her part in the current war, she is aware she is part of something huge with her involvement with the NLU and its simply a reference to that PD: I forgot they even tell her she will recognize the NLU leader from her red shoes so she having a direct tie to The Machine God makes sense why they would speedrun moonscorching her, so most of what i wrote is meaningless but oh well
Awesome vid and yeah I always had a hard time figuring out the Abella/Chaugnar link. Some of them like Marcoh’s & Olivia’s song others are very straightforward, some are a little more ambiguous, and Abella’s just doesn’t really make sense to me. Anyway, yeah awesome game and awesome content, you da best, thank you!!
I love your take on this! I personally think that everything boils down to the first game’s ties to the alchemical symbol “The Sun being eaten by the Green Lion” which symbolizes how any object can be turned into gold once it’s been eaten through by vitriol that is green and acidic according to the alchemical process. The “green mist” isn’t green just because - and the Sun God, Sulfur God, and Yellow Mages aren’t yellow/gold just because either. At the end of the day, I think Termina is presenting each character a question and a simple truth; What filth TRULY lies deep inside of you and that a person can ALWAYS make a decision at any point in their life to do better in spite of hardship. Even if you’re a literal rock, if you persevere and make the right decisions you’ll realize that you were a gold nugget all along. After all, NONE of the characters in Termina have to participate in the game, but they all have the capacity to do so inside of themselves which is arguably even scarier to admit. Daan turning out to possibly be a wolf in sheep’s clothing is terrifying! But that’s exactly what their Moonscorched forms are, the embodiment of choosing not only the path of darkness, but a path of spiritual stagnancy. Tanaka is the most OP character in Termina even though the guy can just NOT stay alive because he is without a doubt the most sane, well-adjusted character in the game lol, but the tragedy lies in him not being able to realize/reach his full potential. (MAJOR Spoilers Below!) I would also like to point out that this extends to both Alll-Mer and the God of Fear and Hunger respectively (also how the sheer amount of genitalia and nudity we experience in game is ALWAYS male, just wanted to put that out there.) It’s highly implied that Alll-Mer was the perfect human vessel created by Sylvian who was then infused with the traces of Gro-Goroth, granting Alll-Mer a Soul. This explains why he was able to ascend to Old God status as it was a ploy of sorts to bring the Old Gods back into the world and keep humanity from achieving ultimate godhood. However, Alll-Mer did the unthinkable and during the moment of his ascension he cast down the parts of Gro-Goroth (Gro-Goroth is the Sun God btw, his rune is on the floor of the top of the tower) that laid inside of himself, which many people in the fandom believes is what gifted humanity the ability to have souls/different soul types. This is supposed to be an example of the determination of the human species to move forward when pursuing goals that may even be downright evil, something that the God of Fear and Hunger also represents, but due to the player’s choice to show kindness to the Little Girl for what is probably the first time in her life, I would say there’s a surprising amount of hope that can be found in the form she comes to ascend. She also ascended through the reverse method of Alll-Mer, a human soul (a soul representing humanity’s endless potential) inside of the corpse of an Old God.
Hearing Daan's name be pronounced like Dawn threw me for such a loop cuz all the others I didnt actually have a self-accepted pronunciation or look up (daniël) the pronunciation for, but I did for him
I think Marina's Moonscorched form is more because she's carrying the sins of her father. I'm not even sure if he himself wanted to control her. We do know there was some love for his daughter and he seemed accepting of Marina's identity as a woman. And for Caligura's, it's not just he's a sadist; the man is very much a monster, even before he became "Monster". He's an infamous mobster who, of course, isn't above rape and murder. He doesn't just dominate, he's perfectly willing to kill if he so desires it. Karin is familiar with him because of his crimes (she never met him prior) and I think Henryk is implied to be aware of him. He also has some sort of tie with Marcoh, as he believes Marcoh followed him to kill him. Caligura is a foul, awful human being, hence why he becomes a monster in the most literal sense. And as for Karin's Valkyrie form, she also mentions that some people see war reporters as vulture, since they're profiting off death.
I will admit I was confused when my dog managed to write an entire essay on a game had never heard of did confuse me when I looked at the my dog's source material It was obvious they had plagiarized an the essay from you don't worry they are in timeout for the next five seconds. but the essay it self was well written and the topic was interesting. As in your essay not my dogs we need to work on her keyboard skills

Thanks for the great overview, and I appreciate the perspectives on why the people morphed into these monsters!
Incredible analysis, I loved all your interpretations and I agree with them a ton. This video deserves more views!!

There is a theory that Daan was destined to become higher ranking sulfur cultist but in Rher's orders Pocketcat stepped in to stop that
