You are on point. The interview should have been conducted in Creole. However, it's not a good excuse for insult. Actually, the first guy is also the guy interviewing Wyclef in the interview. Perhaps, there was no time to find a translator when he was assigned that task. That guy learned academic English in school. He could translate any long English article, but his listening and speaking skills needed a lot of work (in your language, you would say his communication skills suck, I guess). He didn't want to do that interview because he knew his speaking and listening skills are limited. His boss forced him to do it. He tried his best and actually was the only reporter that produce a package that was aired on TV at the time. Now, he is a college/high school professor with a Bachelor in Business Administration, a Master in Education, and some associate degrees in Electronic Engineering and Television Productions. He is multilingual (French, Kreyol, and English fluently, and conversational Spanish). He is well alive and teaching high school students the skills they need to conduct and produce an outstanding interview with people like Laurin Hill and Wyclef Jean. He is one of the positive, educated, and respected Haitians living abroad.
