I know there is a pediatric subsection for IR, but that it is small. Just how small is it? Is attending life limited to academic? Do general IR physicians do any substantial peds? In the vid, there was a 6 year old IIRC, so I am curious. Excellent video.

I have it on good authority that Petrov does sets of barbell squats on call just to pass the time between consults.

so vascular and interventional IR covers everything but cardiac and neurological procedures, right? - that's through interventional cardiology/neurology?

Awesome video, very informative. I’m a second year DO medical student and I’m hoping to pursue IR/DR combined residency. I would very much appreciate any advice! I’m having trouble finding a mentor and opportunities for research :/

Society for Interventional Radiology is probably the best place to start. They have a service (free) that helps you find mentors in IR and how to get a hold of a research project.
Also, all IR residencies will be linked to DR. IR is not separate completely from DR and you'll have many rotations during residency where you will sit in reading rooms looking at studies as a diagnostic radiologist.
