The steps are not weatherproof. Crafting anything for outside you would have to use an exterior sealer or a boat varnish and make sure to seal every inch.

Thank you so much….I m
Am making a fairy/gnome garden for my grandchildren and love your stairs…. So I am going to try to make steps like you showed in the video ….then just spray with Cabot waterproofing….thoroughly….I will let you know how it works out
My first time on your work, today at 10.07 13th May 2020. I'm a retired engineer, living on the Isle of Wight in the U.K. "Grandad, can you make me a pixie house ?" I was going to use a tree stump and cut it around a bit, but when I saw your effort here I was left dumb struck. You are absolutely brilliant using those everyday materials that ended up a work of art. Many thanks for your effort, I'm completely inspired. Pete, on the Isle of Wight.
Ummmany pictures of the fairy stump?
Can this be putiutside
You know when you get lost in UA-cam's rabbit holes?
I have no idea how I got here, but I am in awe of your fantastic talent/skills/gift. Thank you so much for sharing it with the world! People like you make life fun and bearable. You are so appreciated!!
I can’t imagine why you don’t have more subscribers! Your work is amazing and your videos are so well done. You are truly an inspiration.
thank you! I used to upload my miniature tutorials to my other yt channel (for crochet toys) then in April of 2016 I decided to start this channel and keep the crafts separate. But I got sick in August 2016 and battled auto immune until last year when they found a treatment to work for me. I've had a hard time getting videos made in the last 2-3 yrs due to my struggles and sometimes this channel gets neglected for long periods of time. I'm pretty pleased to see the number of subs I've gotten so far. If I can keep a consistent upload then the sub number will go up. It needs some work but I'll get there! And thank you so much, that really means a lot.
I can’t wait to see what you come up with next! And very thankful that you’ve found a treatment that is helping you feel better. Love and prayers 💜🙏🙏
Your comment got me to subscribe:)
I can.
What I enjoy the most, on all of your videos, is how you take basic items: foil, masking tape, glue and paper towels and then create MAGIC with them! What a gift! Thank you Sharon for more inspiring ideas!
thank you so much! That means a lot. When I first started years ago I had no wood working skills so I had to come up with a way that worked with my brain. Foil opened up a whole new world for me! I want to share that with everyone I can..
Finally we get a chance to see the tree houses again!!! A lot of progress have been made! We miss the gnome homes ❤️
This was a terrific tutorial but I have to admit, I fell in love with your snail. He reminds me of the Blue Worm in the movie, Labyrinth. I was kind of expecting him to say, "Allo, come inside and meet the missus' and 'have some tea. "
aww, lol that is so cute. I love that little blue worm and want to make him one day! I made the snail in 2016, his name is Freddy. He also has a saddle which Gnomey (my gnome) uses. www.sharonojala.com/2016/03/freddy-snail.html
@@WhereTheGnomesLive Thanks for responding, Sharon. I was wondering about your tiny mouse. I think you said on Instagram, that he is made from foil and homemade flocking. If that's right, could you tell me how you make flocking? Thanks again.
Love your work. Have been waiting for more videos on your Gnome homes. I can;t tell you how many times I have watched your videos. You are truly gifted and thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with the rest of us. Hope to see more again in the future.
thank you very much! I really appreciate your encouragement and kind words. Straight to my heart!
That awesome moment UA-cam suggests the coolest crafting vid I never knew I needed in my life.🤯💙
Aww lol thank you so much!! 💚🥰
My god what a work😮😮😮 i dont understand those peoples who dislike such a creative video?
Jealous.
I’ve done miniatures for years- mostly fimo clay foods, etc. but now I’m delving into more natural settings… embellishing a wood pumpkins basket into an elf house/habitat! Thank you so much for your stairs tutorials! Enormously helpful!! 🥰❤️😁
I just found you and I am in total awe. Tin foil. Masking Tape and paper towels made stairs that look like you would find in the olden days to make trees and steps. I will be looking at all you made and keep saying I don’t believe how talented you are. Just beautiful.
It looks like a real tree. Love all the nooks and crannies. It looks magical with the stairs, like gnomes actually live there. I can't get over how easy you made it look.
I'm so happy to see you have another video out!!! 💖😊
Thanks so much my dear friend for sharing such a beautiful display. I loved how you put it all together. It was so beautiful I love gnomes Garden tour you took us on today it was so beautiful there home with turned out gorgeous. You put a lot of love and care into it. Thanks for sharing.
❤️❤️❤️
Amazing as always... I can never get enough of your videos!
so awesome to hear, thank you!
Brilliant. Your videos are so relaxing!
I'm so glad to hear that, thanks!
I must say you have a great mind and I would like to thank you for sharing not only your talent but also your thought processes as well. I found your channel by mistake and in my eyes that was the best mistake I've made in a long time.
I AM IMPRESSED......GOOD VOICE, GOOD LIGHTING, GOOD EXPLANATION. i WILL TRY THIS
I am so glad I found you again! I thought you stopped making videos. You are so talented. Thank you for sharing.
From start to finish this video was informative and extremely helpful and presented perfectly. Thank you 😃
I too want to create this outdoors on a living tree. I wonder if white Gorilla Glue in place of white glue would work. Apparently you can add water to white gorilla glue to water it down without affecting it's waterproof quality once dry. Although, I've seen mixed comments on this. If it works, I would think you would need to cover every inch of the tape covering the foil for waterproofing. Then use outdoor acrylic paints. I may build a small, test tree trunk and see how it weathers. I will write up and submit my test results once I've built and weather-tested my tree trunk.
this is the best tutoreal i have watched,i cant believe its made of tinfoil and masking tape, when i first looked i thoght it was a real log,its awesome,i will sertinly try this out, thankyou so much for sharing, sandy
Brilliant... Those gnomes are some crafty little characters.
Absolutely adore your projects & the realism you've incorporated into them! And the simplicity w/which you've created these magical places is inspiring, too!
ooh woow.. wood looks great! I thought it would be a complex , fancy process but you keep it simple and still looks great!!
Absolutely awesome.....thus will be invaluable in about 2 weeks time when I start my project as a Christmas present for 2 of my granddaughters
Thank you for this tutorial.....fascinating! I love your work....so realistic!
This video just came up in my UA-cam feed. My 9 yr old neighbor, her mom & I are starting to make fairy/gnome gardens outside. Your work is amazing! Very inspiring!
Wow, you should totally write a book, I would buy it :):):) love your creations :):)
thanks so much! That is the plan.. eventually I'll get one written
@@WhereTheGnomesLive oooo please do! You should Make it about elves :)
This is incredible you left me with my mouth wide open as i watched this and as i write this comment cuz im blown away wow bravo 👏👏👏👏👏
WOW! Would never have guessed that you started this off with foil! Your work is incredible and definitely worthy of a subscription! Thank you
that's awesome to hear, thanks for the sub and the kind words! I appreciate that a lot :)
Absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
The most coolest thing about life, as a creative being myself, is using whatever materials I have on hand and creating something out of nothing. This gift can also help when we're facing life's dilemmas.
I love the way you make all those wonderful things and making like it is so easy. I used to make Xmas villages with the lighted houses and styrofoam covered with spackling, not anymore as I don't have the energy to put it on and dismantle it later. But I started making little gnomes gardens for the family with air dry clay, but the possibilities with this technique are endless, Thanks so much for sharing,
I just found your channel and I am so excited.. I literally gave up making stairs as they never did look right.. Your instructions are easy to follow.. Thank you for sharing your creations with us all.
I love that you shared your craft with us. I have a little fake fairy door on my tree out front for neighborhood kids. I wanted to add stairs. Not sure if this will hold up to the weather outside but going to try anyway. Thank you so much.
Wow that very cool. I keep thing I wonder if I could do something for my grandson room. For up on a shelf until he is older. Of course it may take me that long any how. lol This is awesome. The whole process. Thanks for the video.
This technique is amazing, it looks so much like real nature, I have seen a tree stump made from newspaper and covered with tissue paper mache, but the staircases are on a new level. I want to make one.
This is honestly unbelievable! I’m stunned at the unique creativity of your work here! Amazing!❤️
I've never seen anything like it! Amazing! And such a lovely, easy-to-listen-to voice commentary. Can't wait to have a go. Grandma
Hope you enjoy it! And thank you for the kind words :)
What an amazing talent!! Love the technique!! Absolutely beautiful!!
This is, I believe, the best video I have seen regarding making a "realistic" fairy garden wooden tree with steps.......AMAZING!!!!!
wow, thank you so much! That really means a lot to me :)
The foil bark is inspired! The results look impressively realistic, too. thanks for your video.
Awesome! You are a good teacher! Thank you for sharing all your ideas and methods. The bark looks so real!
Thanks for video! I, recently started getting into fairy and knome gardens. Definitely, will be trying your technique.
So happy I found you! I have missed seeing your beautiful tree houses for the gnomes.
This is the first time I’ve seen your work. I am blown away. Your fairy/gnome home is wonderful! Thank you for all the details in how you create such realistic tree bark and stone. You are very talented. Really love how this turned out.
I'm always amazed at what you can do with such simple supplies! Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely wonderful!!
The best with all the instructions and needed supplies, and of course the artistry! Thank you so much, I was starting to believe I had lost my abilities.
I’m falling down the rabbit hole with your videos! I see lots of glue, foil, paper towels and masking tape ending up in my cart tomorrow!
So much easier than clay!
Yay!! I'm so happy to hear that. The possibilities are truly endless and you're going to have a blast!
Love this fairy tree. Love how you made the stairs. This will help me to make stairs. Thank You for sharing your video with all of us.
Simply amazing. I am so smitten with fairy houses. I make fairy houses by felting wool, and I'm just about begin my first clay house. This girl is crazy talented. In my opinion, a real artist will see a creative way to use just about anything when we are in create mode. 🥰
thank you so so much for the kind words, that really means the world to me! Wow, fairy houses from wool! Do you have a page or site? Feel free to link to them, I'd love to see!
I LOVE the shape and the easy assent of your stairs! They actually look as if they were carved out of the tree and by adding the moss, you've taken your stairs to a whole new level! :D
thanks so much!
I made one of your scarey trees and it is awesome. Everyone that sees it wants to buy it but i don't do crafts to sell. Becomes a job then. Thank you for sharing. I so so admire your work.
I was just looking for accessories for kids' fairy garden. This is absolutely amazing.
So happy I found your channel. You are incredibly talented! So creative! Can't wait to watch all of your videos 😆
Thank you so much!!
nice to find a like-minded person. Love your work
I just happened upon your channel and, "Oh, my goodness"! This is AMAZING! Thank you for sharing!
After watching your video you have inspired me to want to make one of these to go outside. I am now trying to figure out all that I need to do this project, I can't wait to get started. I just love it, love it and thank you for sharing we us, God Bless you.
I loved this video. I started a fairy Garden for my grandson and myself. I wanted to use tree slices for steps I started gluing them together when it dawned on me that I had now idea what was going to hold up the middle of the steps. I had a few ideas in my head but they are seemed so difficult to me. Then I watched your video. Oh my, your steps look awesome and your technique is so easy to do. It was the answer to my problem. I can't wait to get started! Thanks so much!
Glad I found your channel. I started a tree house like this about 6 years ago and wanting to finish it. It is for my grandchildren and I had bought some little critter sets but I think I think I will make my own little creatures for it. I love the stairs and I had not thought about making some on the outside like this until I watched your video. I guess I will go finish my project. Thank you
Looks better than Disneyland! Very inspiring.
You are so talented! I consider myself crafty but just looking at this project without knowing how to make it, looks so complex. Thank you for making the construction so simple! I think I'll surprise my 8-year-old with a new project! I am definitely subscribing!!
Wow! You are so clever. Who knew that you could create such amazing effects with just tinfoil, tape, paper towel and glue! Definitely going to have a go.
i enjoyed your video very much. i did nor realize so much could be done with the materials you used. the finished project looked amazing. thank you so much for sharing.
I love this. You are amazing. I enjoy watching the process. Thank you so much for sharing.

Wow that’s amazingly simple for a perfect natural look!
Sweet...sweet lady! Thank you for the treasures you provide us with!! 🤗
aww!! Thank you so much!
@@WhereTheGnomesLive I thank YOU for all this joy ypu provide!
This is so magical and precious. You’re such talented!
Amazing how quickly it all came together
Looks absolutely brilliant
I just subscribed...this was amazing...I did a tree house a few years back...using a carboard box...news paper & School glue & the same color paints your using...Mine is not as detailed as yours...I think I'm going to use your technique to add stairs & make it more intresting...I made it as a Barbie Tree House.
thank you!! Years ago I used to upload my miniature videos to my crochet channel and I actually had a cardboard box to house tutorial (2015). Some time after I started this channel for miniatures. Back then I did steps but I believe I over-thought them and made them difficult. This relaxed way is so much easier and quicker. Once you get the base part down you can add anything to the surface. I hope you have fun with it! Keep me posted :)
I am baffled with this art piece. Wow such incredible talent
thank you very much!
This is Brilliant, I loved the way you show us People, Thank you, I really hope that I make something.
Excellent... love the realistic effect . Im currently making a garden fairy house scene for my granddaughters and im picking up great ideas here well done X

I am feeling really short of words to describe how amazed I am after watching this and your other videos and your incredible talent. I am planing on building a fairy garden (I've been collecting pieces for over 10 years for this proyect) and can´t tell you how gratefull I am for all your videos. I have learnt a lot and feel soinspired. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Sending you lots and lots of love from the south of Chile.
wow, you made my day! Thank you so much for the kind words and the love. Lots of love to you from Canada. Happy building!

No entiendo tu idioma pero viendo tus vídeos y las tradiciones que pones eh podido hacer los árboles y muchos amigurumis que haces, me encantan tus casas de árbol y es mi objetivo el tratar de hacer una, espero lograrlo. Eres genial. Gracias por enseñarnos.
thank you very much!
Just incredible so relaxing to watch 👍👍👍
I stumbled upon your channel today by pure happenstance. Wow, your talent and craft is amazing! Will definitely be spending time going thru some of your other videos. (I was hit by someone texting and driving. 3 back surgeries in under 6 weeks along with 2 other emergency surgeries, and now permanently disabled. I'm now in search of finding a hobby/craft to help fill all of the empty hours and help refocusing my attention off my 24/7 pain) Who knows....maybe some day, when I build up a little courage... I'll attempt to try making a Fairy tree house!
subscribed 😃
So glad I see you in action again! Keep on going, please! :)
Your creations are magical!
Yay a new video!!!! and yay, look another Marion, lol. I love your Artistic eyes and wonderful work Sharon bless your heart Always!
thank you very much, I appreciate that!
It's incredible how the same technique can be used to reproduce the look of stone/slate and bark at such a low cost. Thank you so much for making this wonderful method available.
I hope your health is steadily improving, many of us know what it's like to struggle for years with a chronic condition. Be sure to ventilate thoroughly when using a hot glue gun, the fumes are far more toxic than people realize. A fan by an open window would not be too much. Better yet, take the project outside.
I am in awe of your Tallent!!!I had no idea of this . I can’t wait to try it
Wow wow wow!!! Girl!!! I love these!!! I am making my very first fairy/gnome garden and I am so excited. I am so glad I found you!!! You are amazingly talented!!!
