My grandma used to make tomato gravy. She put it over biscuits, pork chops, fried chicken. It didn’t matter. To this day tomato gravy is my absolute favorite. And my kids love biscuits and tomato gravy.
As an American married to a Mexican man, the first one is called flautas if they are made with flour tortias! We fry ours! They are so delicious home-made in Mexico! Yours look really good too! Yummy!
Hey, Kristin! I did the math and a packet of taco seasoning mix equals 1/8 of a cup. Hope that helps. Those potatoes look soooo good! Hope y'all are doing well. 💜
@@naomihull4167 Don't add butter, add milk, heat it on the stove on low with a lid..don't touch the noodles, as it heats it will start to fall apart..it shouldn't break the sauce. It never has on me..
Pork chop meal looked delicious! I save my pickle jars also for grease. I either set the jar in the sink drain hole when i pour my grease or i pour into a 2 cup glass measuring cup then when it cools some i pour into the jar. I said this before but i like how you keep your videos moving along. I only have so much time to watch & you always present to the point. Have a blessed day!
When you add a really hot liquid to a glass container, put something metal in the container first, like a spoon or a fork, before add the liquid. The metal acts as a heat conductor and prevents the glass from breaking.
I So Enjoy hearing you say 'hey ya'll ' at the beginning of the videos. I stopped in my tracks & hit rewind 5 times! No hey ya'll.... food looks wonderful as always!!
I just made 3 big taquitos with leftover chicken and bean dip! Putting it in the freezer to make sure we don't waste and have a yummy treat later. Thanks for the inspiration!
One thing that made it hard for your gravy, remember a cast iron skillet holds so much heat, longer than normal skillets. So turning it down didn’t help because the pan was so hot. Proud you pushed thru, it turned out great!
My husband and I are Keto carnivores, but I love your channel. All the food you prepare for your family looks so good. I can use some of your recipes by changing up some of the ingredients to make them Keto friendly. I fix fried pork chops by dredging them in seasoned crushed pork skins, but we certainly miss good ole cream gravy. Your little family is so blessed.
Good call on the canned soup! Canned goods, and really almost all shelf stable goods, will last indefinitely. Your canned goods are really only bad if the can has a dent large enough to fit your finger in or a dent on the seal. Also, if the can has developed rust or any signs of bloating, definitely toss it. Otherwise, ignore the date completely 😊
❤ yes ma’am that pork chop meal is awesome! It could use a fresh, homegrown, cold tomato as well 🤤 and I like to add those raw things, you don’t care for, on the side, too! Girl, now I gotta go get some pork chops ❤❤ thank you for sharing!
I love your channel! I always go to you and Taylor Elmore when I need inspiration. I watch both of you religiously, and truly look forward to watching y'all ❤
Not sure if you’ve made this already but for the first recipe in the video if you do that exact recipe (I use mozzarella cheese) but use egg roll wrappers instead and fry them it’s so good!!
The taco casserole will be my first fall casserole 😋thank you so much! Also, thank you for always sharing your suggestions of how to make the dish better.
Those pork chops and the gravy looks like what I grew up eating - my southern parents cooked like that. Mmmm. Hahah that’s how my dad still makes gravy every thanksgiving with the giblets n gizzards
You can reconstitute that alfredo sauce and noodles.. All you have to do is put it in a big pot, do not try to separate it, pour a half a cup of milk over the pasta, put a lid on it and put it on low, let it simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes checking it so that it doesn't burn. As the sauce and noodles heat up they will start to come apart and it will get saucy again.. Stir until it is heated through and you will never be able to tell that it was made the night before. I do this all the time.
i grew up calling the taco rice bake "mexican yuk" we add cream of mushroom and cream of chicken in it and put tortillas on the bottom of the pan then use corn torilla chips to eat it with. sooooooooooooo freaking good
Love your channel. I always get inspiration from you! 🥰🤩 for the park chop gravy, try a rue of butter and flour first, then add your oil and whatever broth or milk you want to! That's how I make my Thanksgiving turkey gravy every year it's a huge hit!
I make shrimp fettuccine very similar to your dish except I add a red bell pepper and green onion for added color. You can also add a spritz of fresh lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
Hey girl , sometimes the uneven browning may be because your stove is not level. It should have little casters on the bottom that you can adjust to level it out
Flautas is pronounced fl-ow-tas with the ow sounds being like ouch or when something hurts and you say ow! Flautas...and the tas is like when you say toss but if the o was an ah sound. Fl-ow-tahss. ❤🙂🙂🙂
Awesome meals.i love your pork chops and mashed potatoes and gravy 😋 those pesto potatoes so,so delicious 🤤 thank you for sharing your delicious recipes 👍👍😋 I hope you all are staying safe, happy and healthy ❤️🙏 have a great day and rest of your week ❤️😊😊😊
Reheat fettucine or even mac and cheese by adding some milk and some butter, just at ad in most cases (single serving). And don nuke/microwave it for too long. About every 15 to 20 second stir it until warm enough to eat, not steaming hot. Add milk if you need to each time you check it and stir it. In a pinch even a bit of water. Same with soups that become too thick in the frig, split pea, potato, etc. Add some milk, microwave it for 15 to 20 second intervals until eating temp, stirring each time. You may think it will never be as good as when freshly made but with many meals it is better as the spices and such have had a day to take hold in the dish. There isn't any need to recook the pasta a second time by microwaving it longer than a minute but even for tha tminute, stir at least every 20 seconds and reassess. I find 40 to 50 seconds about right with a decent watt microwave. No expert but it works well for me. If you end up with say too much milk or liquid, just drain it off. I hated reheated mac and cheese my entire life until I started doing this and I will even add sometimes a bit of cheese on top of that again.
Milk gravy was my absolute fave growing up and we had it from pork chops or chicken fried in a pan and of course I went onto being an adult and doing the same. Even before you showed the gravy I wondered why you thought you needed to basically deep fry the pork chops in so darned much oil. You don't need that much oil when pan frying and flipping them anyhow AND if you want to make gravy as I came to find out you intended to after you fried the chops. I give ya credit for admitting to it. And I certainly went through learning things when younger. When you were done and had topped things with it, it looked not loose enough, it just sat where it was put with no movement lol. Personally I never have and never would use half and half or cream in gravy. It is a thickening agent all on its own without flour. So is milk. If you use one or two percent it can take a bit to thicken but the stronger the source, full fat milk, cream, etc. you are going to get it thickened by that in addition to the flour. I'm not criticizing I think I called my mom every day about how to do something with cooking for the first several years of adulthood. Especially the first couple. She'd say you put a roast in at this temp and she, because she knew how, would assume she'd told me what I needed but nope, I'd be like don't hang up, I have more questions. Frozen or thawed roast? In what kind of pan? Do I turn it? Do I add water? What side up? When do I add the veggies? Do I need to add water while it cooks or anything? Etc. Gravy was a tough one and it comes with trial and error even though told how. Or you can make the perfect consistency gravy and have it taste as bland as paste because there isn't enough seasoning or salt... I'm long past those years but remember them well :)
For meat you might get a sear on the stove but then cook it up to temp in the oven. For mac and cheese you make the sauce on the stove but then combine to cook at a lower temp for longer to have all the flavors melt together better and not be as loose and wet. There are many foods that go in the oven to finish cooking.

That taco rice casserole would be so good with Fritos crumbled on top!!
A little tiny bit of heavy cream added to Alfredo will make it heat back up exactly like it was the first night!
I love it as leftovers even though it separated. I just toss the rest of the butter that pools on the bottom

The way you say oil!
flautas are with corn so you are fine, it looked good!
That really depends on where you live. In terms of Latin food. For us, flautas are flour tortillas and taquitos are corn tortillas.
Trying to find the uncooked tortillas you saids before what is the brand again?
Tortilla land! The Kroger brand are also good.

Why would you continue cooking something in the oven that is already cooked? It just overcooks it and omits all the nutrients.
