My favorite thing about your videos is they’re so real for the average household. All of these recipes are something I can make any day of the week. They’re quick, simple and so so good. When I meal plan I use at least one recipe of yours. Thankful for you!
Girl, as an Alabama girl, all I can say about okra, is FRY that okra! It's delicious, not slimy. In the summer when okra is plentiful, I love to pick the pods while they are small and tender and season them up and air fry them whole with no batter only seasoning. But you can't beat a classic corn meal batter fried either. We love it!
A few things - you could buy provolone from the deli in a block and shred. Also, with the steak marinade, you could marinate your steak all day, then when you take it out, add another package of steaks to the marinade and freeze it. It would marinate as it thawed when you’re ready. I have issues when I feel like I’m wasting food or throwing money away, too. Thanks for sharing! I love your family friendly meals. :)
2 things I love, my morning coffee & Kristin- today I get to have both to start my day with.🤗🧡 Phyllis Stokes was such a wonderful woman, a true blessing to all.
I loved Phyllis so much and was really hurt when she passed away. She was a comfort to me as well and she really did share some amazing stories. And some really funny ones too! I was just watching some of her videos a few days ago. I miss her so much ❤
Omg Phyllis was my fave person to follow for cooking recipes! I was so sad when she passed but so glad her family has left her videos up. I’ve used so many of her recipes and tips!
Hey! You can cook that leftover marinade for 5-10minutes (make sure it boils…doesn’t have to be a hard boil) and then use it on the steaks. Boiling will kill any bacteria and will allow you to have a delicious sauce. Love your channel. ❤😊
I just love your videos so much! When I’m having an off day I turn these on and I just feel a sort of peace watching your delicious cooking! Thank you for these videos they do more than you know. God bless you and your family ❤️
Those quesadillas look delicious!!! Yum!! That fish dinner looks amazing. I love banana split pie. I’m not a big dessert person but I love that, it’s one of my favorites
WOW those fish and chips!! I'm no longer afraid to make this, I had the same fears you had. Thank you Kristin. I adored Miss Phyllis and Mr. Bucky! They were such wonderful people and I've enjoyed watching her son Steven's content. I miss her so much, rest in peace.🙏🏻💔
I’ve recently come across your channel and it’s so lovely! You are such a wonderful mom and spouse- so nurturing ♥️ I’d suggest making okra chips that are super crispy- cutting the okra in a circular fashion into tiny pieces and deep/shallow/air frying them with salt, pepper and paprika powder until dark green.
Lol! I can’t believe you used Natty Light for your fish and chips! I haven’t seen that brand since my early twenties when it was the only thing we could afford for parties. Also, I LOVE the green color of your nail polish! What a beautiful color!
Gene Autry seafood breader mix is perfect for any type of fish or seafood. Also Dale's liquid seasoning is great for marinating steaks. Great job on the fish!!
Aww, I looked up Phyllis's channel. Watched a few of her final episodes. 💔 It's nice that her son has taken over her channel to keep her memory alive. 🙏 Tip for Okra....fry it. If you don't have time to fry it, pick a different side for that night. Lol
You are so wonderful. I cant wait to try your fish and chips recipe. So smart to do it outside thats the downfall of cooking fish is the lingering smell. Thank you for being amazing💝💝💐💐
Outstanding job Kristen!!!i love these meals so much i can't even pick a favorite one.you're so amazing 🤩😊 have a wonderful memorial weekend 🤗 many blessings to you all 🙏😇🤗😊❤
All great recipes this week Kristin, especially the fish and chips. I haven't made battered fish either and have been quite apprehensive but I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing xx
In my opinion, the best way to eat okra is either breaded and fried or baked in the oven if you want a healthier version. Both are good. I like to soak my cut up okra in a bowl of milk for a few minutes and then coat it in corn meal. I then fry it until the breading is golden brown...so delicious!! For the oven you spread the cut up okra on a baking sheet. Spray with oil and add salt. Bake in the oven until crispy. Okra is always slimy when it is cut in small pieces. I love getting fresh okra in the summer and cutting it up myself. It is so good!
I like to thaw out frozen okra and poor a small amount of buttermilk with salt and pepper to season, stir up and I use a strainer and put in breadcrumbs and shake. Cook in a small amount of any oil until crispy 😊
After you’re done marinating it, pour the marinade in a pot and boil it. It will kill all bacteria and thicken it into a sauce that you can pour over the steaks. Then you don’t have to waste it! I love this tip because 1) it tastes delicious and 2) I’m like you and HATED having to just trash the marinade!
I struggle with adhd, anxiety and depression and your videos help me eat when I’m struggling. Just watching them and how delicious they look gets my appetite up enough that I want to eat. Thanks for all that you do!
We make a similar marinade but we only.shake a little soy sauce and olive oil on the steak and sprinkle the Montreal seasoning on the steak, put in a covered dish in the fridge and then cook. So good and no waste
Some people like okra boiled but it does get slimey, no getting around that. You have to fry it to get rid of the sliminess. A simple seasoned cornmeal breading and fry it. It is soooo good that way. I have planted some okra in my garden so I'm super excited to harvest, cook and eat it. But everything you made looked amazing. Dumplings and beans, yes please! Love the videos! Take care!
Everything looked so good! Except that okra, which is always awful and slimy as snot, unless it is battered and deep fried - which is really good. 😄 As for all that marinade, I take the leftover and bring it to a boil & let it cook a few minutes. I might strain out all those spices first though. Pour it over rice and also use as Au Jus for the meat. Proud of you stepping outside your comfort zone!
Hi Kristin. That mac and cheese looked so good as did the chicken quesadillas. I miss watching Phyllis Stokes too. Girl, you totally rocked those fish and chips. It did look restaurant-quality. The pie was so pretty. You all have a great weekend, dear one.
Thank you for reminding me of that channel. I use to watch Mrs Stokes too. I was pretty sad when she passed as well. She made me feel like I was her friend the way she spoke. I hope her and Mr Buck are RIP.
Phyllis was such a sweetheart! It broke my heart when she passed away. Your meals looked so yummy! You made the pie right....just mix in the pudding mix like you did...it's all good! Take care....
Hi Kristin. Thanks for sharing. Your food looked delicious as always. I use that same steak marinade and I love it. I thought yours looked really good. I’ve never heard of putting dumplings in pinto beans. Sounds interesting.🤗💕
Im a NC girl and grow my own Okra I fry it no batter or nothing keeping frying it until the slime comes out and then salt and pepper it and it's delicious love Okra in the summer with a juicy tomato and hot pepper along with butter beans or field peas out the garden.
I don't know if your store has already breaded frozen okra to fry, but that stuff is pretty good. Or making a corn meal breading is good too. I would recommend thawing out your okra before fresh frying though. You just toss the okra in some seasoned corn meal, I don't even think you need eggs. The sliminess acts as a binder. I swear, our intuitions are always on the same wave length because I have been craving fried cod. That fish looks so delicious! You should be proud! If you want to do it again, I highly recommend making some copy-cat Red Lobster cheddar biscuits with it! Sooo good!
The only way to get rid of the slime on the okra is to bread it in corn meal and fry it. This is the only way I eat it. My grandmother always made it this way.
Try roasting your ocra. Super good in the oven at 400 degrees on a sheet pan with a little olive oil and salt and pepper. It's one of our favorites! :)
I love all of your videos! The food always looks phenomenal! I would either boil the extra marinade and pour it over my steaks, or boil it and use it poured over rice or veggies. You could also just reuse it as a marinade. And okra fried is the best! I did hear, though, that roasting it on a bbq grill would crisp it up without any slime. 🤷
If you want fried okra, just buy the frozen breaded one. I’ve never had success making it homemade. I like to use okra in gumbo. You don’t notice the sliminess, and it actually acts as a bit of a thickener.
Love your channel so much! We love cooking frozen okra in the air fryer. Preheat your air fryer to 400. Spray the frozen okra with olive oil or avocado oil spray. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder. And roast in the air fryer for 12 to 15 minutes. it is so good and not slimy 👍
Put the okra in a skillet and Sautee till it is super slimy then put it in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under warm water till all the slim is off. 😁 I always do this before making okra and tomatoes or adding to gumbo.
My favorite thing about your videos is they’re so real for the average household. All of these recipes are something I can make any day of the week. They’re quick, simple and so so good. When I meal plan I use at least one recipe of yours. Thankful for you!

Yes! Okra should be fried or cooked in a gumbo.
As a Texas girl, all I can say is I agree! Fry that okra! 😅❤️
I coat my okra in cornmeal, salt, and pepper; drizzle with oil & bake it in the oven. No slimy okra!
A few things - you could buy provolone from the deli in a block and shred. This is what I was going to suggest! Freezing would help it at least be so that it can stretch for 2 recipes
This is a good tip, thank you!
You can also cook the marinade on the stovetop after you take the steak out, just make sure it’s cooked until any meat juices would be cooked out. 😊
2 things I love, my morning coffee & Kristin- today I get to have both to start my day with.🤗🧡 Phyllis Stokes was such a wonderful woman, a true blessing to all.
You’re the sweetest! ❤️
WARNING: Don't watch if you haven't had breakfast yet. Now, I want a little bit of everything. 🤤😋
Same haha! ❤️❤️

Your ability to balance flavors and textures in this recipe is unparalleled. You have a true gift for creating culinary delights.

Thank you for the tip. I always found marinades so wasteful because you throw it out after the food is ready to cook.
If you liked the okra and you like pickles, I would highly recommend pickled okra. It isn't slimy at all and has a nice crunch and flavor!
I just love your videos so much! When I’m having an off day I turn these on and I just feel a sort of peace watching your delicious cooking! Thank you for these videos they do more than you know. God bless you and your family ❤️

I loved watching Mrs Phyllis! I have a friend who makes dumplings with pintos and says it's the way to go =) Everything looked great, as always.
I miss my Phyllis Stokes videos so much! I loved how her son came to her channel and cooked and told stories.
Great job! Everything looks delicious! Just wondering how to make your homemade tartar sauce?
I love making quesadillas with different flavors, those teriyaki ones are right up my alley! That pie looks amazing 😊
Gosh what a good memory…..Ms. Phyllis and Mr. Bucky.
All looks delicious! The sugars in the marinade causes the steak to caramelizes and char like that. The steak looked amazing, in my opinion! 🤤
22:09 girl yes! 👏🏼👏🏼🍽️🍽️
That banana pie looks absolutely delicious, never had a sweet pie only savoury ones.
I used to watch Phyllis and Mr. Bucky too!
These recipes looked tasty! I wana try the Mac n cheese soon! 💛

Wow, excellent recipes Kristen. Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and your family.
That’s where deep frying okra or even buying already battered helps with the slimy.
You are so wonderful. I cant wait to try your fish and chips recipe. So smart to do it outside thats the downfall of cooking fish is the lingering smell. Thank you for being amazing💝💝💐💐

That fish and chips looks amazing!
That entire fish dinner looks like something right out of a diner!
I use Monterey Jack to replace provolone when shopping for brick cheese. Love your videos and recipes!!

Awwwe l love Phillis Stokes, l didn’t know she passed 😢l love her salmon aka crab cake recipe, well that and a whole lot of her other recipes.
if you don’t have panko bread crumbs for the mac n cheese, you can use crushed up ritz crackers!
To make okra unslimy you have to dust on a dry flour rub and deep fry it
Omg I am making those quesadillas tonight!!!
I’d love to see the coleslaw recipe!
I live in Berea KY so I love your channel because it's simple recipes. Love it all thanks so much ❤️❤️
