I've been wracking my brain how to use the speedlite for months! and you explained it PERFECTLY in 8 minutes!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! You're funny and informative. Perfect combination! If you're ever in London, I'd love to meet you over a cuppa
I always learn stuff from your videos, and appreciate your ability to effectively teach without a giant studio and a bunch of equipment unaffordable to an amateur like myself.....so thanks
I watched this just before attending a model/photographer workshop. I tried the technique and was impressed with the results. I also tried with a speedlight using a 7" dish/reflector & grid. very similar results.
Absolutely fantastic! I love your videos and this one surely comes out on top. I have a strobe and a speedlite flash; the speedlite hasn't been used as much. Now I can use my speedlite flash more often and give it the love it deserves. All thanks to you.
i shot exclusively with speedlites until just recently. i saw your live-stream (replay) of the Flashpoint 3x 300strobe kit and picked one of them up (got the Godox, Adorama didnt have any in stock)... im so jealous that you have such a beautifully talented model in Sophie! i have no one but myself and self-portraits are no fun...
OCF rules ! (You taught me well, Gavin). This is a super trick to have, and some time soon (C-19 etc) I hope to experiment with a real model ! Thanks to Gavin, Sam and Sophie
Even though I am very familiar with the use of the Zoom in the Speedlights, I always enjoy watching your videos. I find you intellectually stimulating and just enjoy your presentations, along with your fabulous accent. I however have the Brooklyn/NY accent which, admittedly, is not very flattering.
Good timing. I might need this for a specific shoot next week. Bouncing a second flash off the ceiling but I don't know yet what the heights and distances will be (not my room). The finals you shot make me think of Sophie being under a street lamp. Something else for me to play with.
Hey Gavin, This is Anand. Your Videos are really Amazing and informative specially this video of using TTF flash as studio. Need your guidance that how effective and efferent will be using Basic manual Speedlight instead of TTF Speedlight and can such lights can be low cost solution instead of Cylindrical studio Speedlights.😀
I would be interested in this too. Vehicles are a challenge with so many curves, highlights and materials to deal with. I do at least as much with video of vehicles parked and moving.
Hey Gavin, I actually bought a Ez lock because of you. As fast as the inner plate what do you suggest as far as the concave/convex placement ? Thanx brother
Your presentations are always helpful, Gavin, so "Thanks". You might want to consider fewer cups of coffee prior to making the video. Nah, you're always excited like that!
Honestly I've learned more about lighting from Gavin's videos than anywhere else, by far. His info & presentation skills are amazing. Thanks!
One of the few that doesn't have that weird photographer ego but is actually good! I could watch his stuff all day.
@@darkroom8317 I agree that Gavin is great but Manny is one my favorite to watch. He even talks about his anxiety being around people.
Yes, Gavin is the best!
@@AUDACITY4Uphotographer can you give link to Manny?
The best photography technique educator in UA-cam
Always something new to learn. I just came here to learn what the zoom feature was but also learned creative uses for it. Thanks.

every function of a speedlite is explained in its manual or simply "learning by doing" 😉

Love your tutorials... I really like Sophie's "Pat Benatar" look that she has going on.
Bravo.. Excellent content as always
Enlightening!!!
great video, Gavin, as always
It's helpful outside too, especially with wide angle lenses when you want the light on your subject but with the flash outside of the frame

Thanks for video Gavin! Which smoke machine you recomend to use in small studio like yours? Thanks

Fantastic!
Brilliant
Interesting. Might use that feature on next shoot
