- Northumbrian folk duo The Brothers Gillespie sing the traditional song The Road to Dundee at the fireside whilst camped by the fair banks of the river Yarrow in the Scottish whilst on a long distance walking and camping trip.
Congratulations to The Brothers Gillespie! Such a wonderful rendering for "The Road and the Miles to Dundee". The brothers voices do combine and make us get a country feeling hard to get nowadays. The little solos on the guitar are of a nice exquisite taste. Loved to hear out your song dear brothers.
I’m from Arbroath - how could I fail to love this song ! A privilege to open for the Brothers Gillespie in Cumbernauld. Best stage sound I’ve heard !
Beautiful version, thanks guys…
FABULOUS 🤩
I love you guys and have dearly missed listening to you in person x
Wow 😭
The irish version of this song is called carnlough bay
Good lord fellas, is there anywhere I can learn how to play it in this style? Amazing
To me it seems akin to Martin Simpson's style, i.e. centered on the melody line augmented with lots of pull-offs, hammering-ons and related ornamentations, mostly pentatonic.
@@jimmyolsenschannel6263 thanks mate, I take it you don’t mean Martin Simpson’s style of this song, I couldn’t see anything online with him playing it
@@kyledrummond9750 I just tried to reply to your question about "how to play in this style", i.e. a more general issue unrelated to this specific song. (I actually think that Martin Simpson often overdoes it a bit, Brother Gillespie not so much.)
@@jimmyolsenschannel6263 the question was how to play >it< in this style. I appreciate the answer all the same though it’s still quite useful! Thankyou
@@kyledrummond9750 Sorry, my mistake.
