I was out hill walking in the Lakes that day. I literally could not believe what I saw, you were all out there on the bikes, flying down the mountain roads in torrential rain. That water was cold, I paddled about a bit on my holiday close to a mug of hot chocolate, how you are doing 1,500m. The most incredible thing, was seeing everyone smiling on their bikes - they were actually enjoying it ! You’re all epic !
"Thanks GTN. Well done Mark and Heather. For those unfamiliar with the PTO, it is the Professional Triathletes Organisation. A group of the top 200 professional triathletes in the world, including Jan Frodeno, Alistair Brownlee, Daniela Ryf and Lucy Charles-Barclay which looks to celebrate and support the sport of triathlon. The PTO supported the Helvellyn triathlon by putting up a $15,000 prize purse as part of an initiative to support local races. You can find out more at protriathetes.org"
I did this in 2019 and it was awesome! The bike is a challenge but for me the worst bit was about 1km in to the run where you hit the bottom of the climb, look up and just see a wall in front of you that you're supposed to race up. Really amazing race though and definitely one I'll be doing again!
Any race that has that has you finishing covered in mud must be fun! Not sure I'd want to be flying down country lanes on a TT bike in the rain though. Well done guys!
As with most of you guys here, miss the competition but went and did some trail running around the lakes this year, one of which was around part of Thirlmere and then up and down Helvellyn. Great days and can highly recommend. Be safe though as the weather can differ dramatically from bottom to top! Check out mountain safety guides if you're thinking of following in these guys footsteps, especially with winter on its way. One question for Heather and Mark, How are the quads??!! and well done, Great results!!
I’m glad somewhere in the world people decided to continue living their lives. This looks like it would have been a blast. None of the race permits were allowed in my state, the only multi sport race I saw was an indoor tri in February. At least running is somewhat back, I’m happy to have that. Some cities will issue those race permits. I don’t participate in hysteria.
I only managed one triathlon this year, and I had to go out of state to do that. I wasn't out of shape per se, but I was definitely out of form especially for transition, I got smoked.
Anybody who likes the sound of Helvellyn tri should look at the Triathlon X Half, Full and Extreme. They are iron distance and all of them are like Helvellyn on steroids.
Unfortunately it was a tricky race for the guys to film. We were in the middle of the field in staggered starts. It was lucky that they got anything to be honest
Just if anyone is wondering...Mark finished 9th and Heather 5th in the non-pros... I had to look it up^^
Thx I was wondering just that!
That’s amazing 😍🙌🏾
congratulations to them both
Heather 4:35, Mark 3:56. Heather would have done better only she Fell. 😐

good to see GTN showcasing UK triathlons again. Celtman last year was one of the best videos
I had 2 races this year and it was so much fun!! I'm so happy for you and Heather to have had a chance to race as well!
It's so nice to see that, even though you're professionals, you still get so much fun out of that sport :) Love all your videos! Cheers from Poland :)

Excellent. As a seasoned trail runner i found it interesting to watch those roadies getting to grip with techy terrain. Watch those ankles !

Good to see people back to run. This inspires us to keep training.
Congrats and thanks for sharing.
Makes me want to participate in something as epic as that race. Great video!
That run looks a proper calf busting quad crunching route! Well done to all 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Fantastic video guys...... it made my Wet Sunday better!!! Just wish it was longer 😀😍
Still wishing for more videos like the Norseman. Really exciting to see the full race in chronological order, following the athlete.
Beautiful course, especially the run! So good to see you both out there.

Congratulations 💪👏
Amazing scenery 🌿
Wow! congrats! amazing video production!
Brill video and lovely shots/views. Well done on the race too guys!
What an epic day out! Great to see you there too Mark 👍

What a fantastic route!
i will also be taking part in a triathlon with a similar bike leg. 55 kilometres and 1600 metres of elevation! wish me luck !
Wow amazing country side
Wow, great to see you're back racing!

Loved it.. !!
Great job, well done. As the run is challenging in the best conditions, did you have to take any special equipment?
Yes - foil blanket, full body clothing, and a map
That was awesome!
Awesome 👍
Spotted myself at the top of The Struggle, cheering you all on.
Well done supporting in that weather 👍🏼
Thanks for coming out - we had a great day, thank you for your support!
6:05 oh wow beautiful. But I've seen this movie before, there's a monster in that fog, don't go down there.
Can’t believe that was a TT bike course. If i did that one I’d have to do it on a road bike.. 🤷♂️.. defo on my bucket list though..
Which brand is those backlight on your TT bike?
Interesting to see Heather chose a road bike and Mark chose a TT-bike. Any reasons why?
Great video
I'm surprised the racers didn't have gloves on. It looks cold, and then grabbing those rocks as an easy way to get cut.

What would the temperatures like? At that look like it was just cold all day, not just the water but the air is well.
yeeeoooo so excited to watch this :) :)
You should make a video about the gear you used!
We can certainly look into this for you. We have done an extreme Tri Q+A before and recommend checking out 👉 gtn.io/ExtremeQA
Better than Kona !
Triathlon X next..... Helvellyn on speed....
Curios as to why so little footage of Heather?
Unfortunately it was a tricky race for the guys to film. We were in the middle of the field in staggered starts. It was lucky that they got anything to be honest
The closest triathlon gets to solo Adventure racing. Big sport in Ireland. Mark if you enjoyed that get over here and try for yourself. Kayathlon.ie
What is PTO?
This comment wrote even before the video uploaded.
Seeing everyone in full aero kit and TT bikes but then having flappy numbers pinned on the backs? 🙈🙈 It hurts the aero nerd in me
I liked the video, but that music is annoying
