The sockdock seems like a way longer tedious process than what needs to take place when doing laundry. Also, the purpose of a washer is for the items to swoosh around the water. It's hard to picture socks all stuck together on a tether device to flow freely.
I switched to crew socks (ankle/no show don’t stay on my feet) and haven’t lost a sock in years. Maybe the sock gremlin doesn’t like me, but even if I lost socks I doubt I’d take the time to use that.
I'm pretty sure the idea is that you put them onto it after your take them off, so they never *_become_* loose and seperated As for 'swooshing', it's really not an issue. The soap & water are naturally going to have turbulent flow through the entire machine and the chain of socks is still on a super flexible rope. A fully packed machine (as in, door barely closing) has *_far_* more flow & movement restrictions and still works pefectly fine.
The bloopers 😂 omg yes! You need to include those more often. Idc what it is you're reviewing or what topic you share, I've been here and will be for it all!
Love the bloopers! Really felt the one that fell behind the machine. I use laundry net bags for my delicates and socks. Even my husband who now has to use compression socks uses them now. It's just easier since we don't run them through the dryer. See a bag, set it aside to hang on a line we've strung across the garage. We live in Arizona so during the summer our stuff can be completely dry in under an hour, we leave them overnight or a few days during a wet winter and they're good.
I use a laundry netting for my socks. I wouldn't like using the sock thing at all. BTW! I never lose a sock with my method. Thanks James for the review and blooper! 🤗

Love the BTS/bloopers at the end. Sadly, like a lot of ASTV items, they have a very strange/unique use-case. The Turtle is interesting, but I'd just be transferring everything into a laundry basket anyway? The Sockdock doesn't seem to serve any purpose at all, and might actually create problems - Same with the Tidy Cup - Could be useful for people that have dexterity issues, maybe?
Makes me want to sing that very famous song, “Black Socks” (I was a 1st grade teacher, so famous in MY classes anyway…)!!! Black socks, they never get dirty, the longer you wear them the stronger they get! Sometimes I think I will wash them, but something inside me keeps saying, “Not yet, not yet, not yet”! You’re welcome.
There's a funny line by an MC I listen to that says "you said you had your own clothing line but that was just a wire strung up in your backyard for your clothes to dry". Seems fitting for this video topic I usually just put my laundry basket by the dryer door and scoop it all out, the turtle one seems like it could have a place but of you already have a laundry basket it's redundant
The laundry turtle REALLY helps me as someone with back/hip issues. Its use is so you don't have to lean down then INSIDE of the wash/dry. Having a laundry basket is not the same, it's a totally different "tool" with a different use case. I'm unable to reach into the very back of the wash/dryer to get those socks that stick to the back of the bin. With the turtle, using it as intended, I don't hurt myself reaching. You can also use it in reverse to drop the load of wet clothes into the dryer. Spin the tumbler, the turtle flips over, and your clothes drop in without what he did (pushing clothes out, which usually results in items dropping on the floor. Ugh.)
The strong man with a laundry basket might find reaching into the dryer while also holding a basket is possible… I practically have to crawl into my washer, because I have very short arms! No way I can hold a basket (let alone reach over one) to get stuff out.
A laundry bag for socks that I keep in my laundry basket so that when I take them off it put them in the bag it works really well and I don't have to worry about parts of the sock staying damp or anything. Bonus laundry bags cost a fraction of what that sock dock does
I came to say the same thing, washer should be on the left, dryer on the right with the door reversed. I know in some houses the washer is on the right side due to poor design or lazy plumber.
Water and vent hookups are usually one way around in a house and don't reach when crossed over. Most full size washers and dryers have doors that can be installed to open either way.
You can just switch the doors around too. Not sure how involved it is, but you can see there’s bolts where you can switch them. Probably why the sensor to detect the door is closed is at the top.
In regard to the "Turtle": I don't know about a front-loading washing machine, but a top-loading machine I always have to shake them before putting them in the dryer because they're bunched together after spinning. I always shake the clothes out too so they're not clumped. I have a top load anyway. Have never liked front load washers. I have had old/used washers in the past that didn't drain do to the motors going out in the middle of a load, so we had to scoop the water out. Front load, you're just screwed if you open that door full of water. LOL

My socks are always very dirty (I clean at the animal shelter) so I wonder if the sock dock would allow them to get clean. Good products and interesting reviews. I love the bloopers!
Hey buddy. My aunt had the tidy cup. Great way for use it all depends on the soap. But pretty good. Going check out more of your reviews. Stay blessed.
My first impression of the laundry turtle was also why when I can use a laundry basket like I always have. The sock thing is pretty neat, sorting socks out is always annoying. The last item also seems useful, but I can 3d print something like that for cents :)
My Mom taught me the way it looks going into the dryer is the way it'll look coming out. I would never take my laundry out of the washer in a lump using a turtle or a basket. I shake out each item before it goes in the dryer and fold it as it comes out. A little OCD? Maybe. But I refuse to iron so taking a few extra minutes at the start yields a better result at the end 😁
I purchased a "turtle-like" product to remove my laundry from the dryer. My dryer is so deep that it's hard to reach the clothes in the back, and as someone with back issues, repeated bending is hard on my back. This has made it easier to get all the clothing out of the dryer and has saved my back. I have a hard time getting my family to put their socks in the laundry basket - I can't see them taking the time to "dock their socks".
I been trying the laundry turtle for about a year (large) and it's perfect because we use a multi section rolling hamper to load and the turtle for carrying across the house back to closet
If the socks make it through the washer with that gizmo, then you're doing fine. My understanding of the problem is that it's the washer that eats them, since the dryer has no place for them to go. I will keep the 'front-door opening' option in mind if and when I have to replace my current washer, as I just bought the house and a top loader is what's here. As for the drip thing, it seems like a solution looking for a problem.
I switched to laundry detergent sheets a couple of years ago and love them. No more big plastic bottles and no drips. Just little sheets, use one or more depending on the size of your load. Easier and so much better for the environment.
I have woolen dryer balls. It dries clothes quicker with less wrinkling. Also I ad a few drops of laundry perfume on those balls. Laundry detergent here is Persil or Marcel’s green soap detergent. No softeners because they ruin your machine. Vinegar is better if u need a softener.
I have used the Tru Earth laundry sheets for several years and love them. I have a mail subscription so they get mailed to me regularly but I noticed recently they can now be found in local grocery stores. I will keep with the the mail subscription as the price is the same and I never have to think about buying any.
I just ordered my first pack of laundry detergent sheets and I'm trying them for the first time right this minute. I'm hoping that they're as good as what I've heard and read. I was surprised to realize that you can get deals on them that make them cheaper to use than the big jugs of liquid or even the pods. I can't wait for my laundry to finish so I can see how they work.
Great video, as always--bloopers are awesome! (Was the laundry cup like a slice of buttered bread?) With those big laundry containers and a shelf, those "Tidy Cup" holders are great (those containers like to drip!), but I might have seen a hack for that on 5 Min Crap?
When I saw the Tidy Cup ad, it reminded me of the little phone shelf that fit over your phone charger while it's plugged into the wall. So I dug the one I had out of my junk drawer to use for the fabric softener. Since the jug always drips onto the washing machine, I keep a cup on the shelf to catch the drips.
Love my Laundry Turtle! Clothes baskets always break or they're too bulky to maneuver. This has been a huge life changer for doing laundry and if it ever breaks, I'll certainly buy another.
I safety pin my docks together. They wash well & then they store with the safery pin attached. When I use a pair I store the pin on my jewelry box. Repun them after ware & toss back to be washed. Its worked great for many yrs. A small bag if safety pins is $2
First time posting a comment here 😬I used to have problems with my Australian Cattle Dog's hair but when I started using Bounce Pet Hair and Lint Guard Mega Dryer Sheets those things are incredible at getting ALL the hair off and into the lint collection area. I never find hair on my clothes after a cycle anymore, but it could be her hair type is better at being picked up. It's more coarse than I think your dogs. It could totally be a placebo thing but thought I'd mention it just in case you want to try and see if they make a difference for your dog hair. Could be worth testing even? Thanks for all your videos, love the channel.
They also make reusable pet hair removal tools for the dryer that work really well too. We have 2 cats and their fur gets all over all our clothes. I can't say that it catches 100% of the hair, however, it catches most of it. I just really don't care for dryer sheets due to the fact that they end up ALL over my house and not in the trash LOL.
best thing is to have a top load washer, with a dryer with a door that drops down from the top instead of to the side like any other kind of door.... that way you just toss your wet clothes from the washer and toss them onto the door of the dryer and then close the door.... in they go... or at least if you are putting clothes into the dryer the drop down door will catch anything from falling to the floor. I love this set up
I bought the tidy cups, but use it on top of my machines and it is really inconvenient be a us of the doors (front-loading). Plus I have to leave the containers very forward of the machines and they sometimes tip. My shell is too far back for me to reach over my large, pedestal machines, so the tidy cups don't work there. 🤷🏻♀️
The SodkDock works fine. For socks ... as long as you've pulled it off your foot (inside out) before so it could be washed. Then you sock is now clean from the inside, just like you washed your dirty body.
the laundry turtle might be great for people who have to use an apartment building shared laundry room. Sometimes you have to use a dryer that’s far away from the washer because people just use whatever, and tie up the dryers next to your washer. Also dropping cleaned clothes on the floor of a public laundry disgusts me, makes me feel like I might catch bed bugs, and gets lint on everything. But, the drip cup things not so useful to someone who washes clothes outside of their own home and doesn’t their own laundry soap set up. I carry the detergent and clothes down 12 floors in an elevator to wash. It doesn’t just sit nicely above my personal washer.
The Laundry Turtle and the Tidy Cup both create problems and then attempt to solve them. I've always had a front load washer as a kid and I never dropped clothes. Also, I 3D printed a pair of Tidy Cups. The Tidy cup works as designed, but I just prefer to quickly put the lid over the spout of the laundry detergent/softener instead.
I need to get one this, I have a top loading washing machine and a side loading dryer. Unloading the dryer and carrying the clothes from laundry room to my room for folding, I always drop clothing onto floor.
Space isn’t a problem for having a laundry basket any more. They have collapsible laundry baskets with plastic sides that accordion down to be thin enough to slip between the washer and dryer, or under a bed. Mine lasted about 8 years before the sides started to crack and is a little less than that turtle.
Love the bloopers!! The first one made me laugh - just moments before I had stood up and dropped an item, you sounded just like me! I'm too cheap, i just use the lingerie/laundry bags from dollar tree. All my socks go in, get washed and then, well I'll be honest i just take them out of the bag when I need them (thankfully i have several of the bags) Have a great evening!!
Turtle can also be replaced by a towel. For the last one, I use that and think it's a great product.. until it gets near the end, that is. With detergent being thicker, I find it's easier to just take the back cap off and pour.
Still can't imagine the wrinkles doing it that way. I have to untwist my clothes before putting them in the dryer. Though I could see how this would be helpful to those that don't need to untwist. The sock thing is a cool idea. I just put all of mine in a mesh bag and wash them that way so they're still loose, but contained. But I can definitely see how this could be especially helpful for kids sock.
Save money on the laundry turtle and just use a towel, that's what I've always done. Also, there are dryer balls that attract pet fur. Might be useful with Bailey!
Seems like it'd be a hassle to individually load all the socks into the sockdock. Your socks are all mixed in with the rest of your laundry- so you have to separate them out and load. I'd just keep a mesh zippered bag in my laundry hamper. Throw socks in there after you wear them- mesh bag gets thrown in the washer and dryer. The bags can be bought in a set for cheap and you can get different sizes for bras, soiled clothing etc. I doubt a set would be more than $10.
The Laundry Turtle would be a good product for anyone like myself who uses their apartment building's laundry room, and have to switch from washer to dryer which may require a couple trips back and forth
I'm lucky to have a W/D in my apartment, but I've live in others where you had a laundry room, and it might be useful there, IF you have the front end loading washers. If not....
The turtle thing would be good for someone like me who has fibro and other issues so I don't have to do a lot of reaching in and out type movements and stay bent over as much-so that's a maybe from me. On the sock thing, I'd like to see a load of white socks that are what are typically dirty from wearing all day to see how clean they come out vs with regular washing. And I wonder if putting the socks on where each pair is ankle to toe(reversed directions) would be a better thing? Thanks for video.
I’ve had the Sock Dock for months and I LOVE it. I just go through and make sure all the slides are tight before throwing it in the washer and hardly ever have a sock come out. I hate putting laundry away so anything that makes the task a little easier is great as far as I’m concerned!
I love my laundry drip cup holders thing. I haven't had any issues with it breaking or falling off. you can catch an entire loads worth of drips with those cups.
If socks fall of in dryer, it is not a big deal because it won't have any crevice/hollow space to disappear to. The washing is where my socks usually looses one socks because when it spins, socks gets thrown to the other side of the drum where you can't reach in to retrieve the item (99%] of the time).
On a side note people tend to over use fabric softener they use downy when washing and bounce fabric softener sheets when drying you only need to do one or the other 😂
I haven't tried the Laundry Turtle, but I must say it looks like it would a LOT easier to carry than a laundry basket for a person like me who walks with a cane. For me it would be worth having just for carrying and who cares that I have a top loader and can't use it with the washer. One handed transport with no droppage? Yes please.
We have the tidy cup at home, and there is one feature you missed: whatever residue is left on the measuring cup stays in the cup, as opposed to snapping it back onto the container where detergent will seep out
So the Laundry Turtle has one feature I didn't see brought up, that I really feel like really makes it better over baskets is it's flexible rim. As it's very flexible rim would help it avoid the handle braking that happens to every laundry basket.
I find things like the turtle and sock holder really only work if you are doing small loads of laundry. The people having complaints are likely doing full large loads so the socks would not dry as well and it would overload the turtle.
The laundry turtle would be too heavy for me to lift with wet clothes. I would just put everything into the basket and slide it over to the dryer. I have so many pairs of socks, that the sock holder would be time consuming to deal with. For most washes, my socks get split up into different washes. And the 3rd item, would not work, because I use a small bottle of concentrated detergent. Thanks for the video, James! 😊
My thought about the laundry turtle is that my laundry loads are to big, my machine is full I couldn't fit it in there. But I use Ikea bags to move my laundry around. I also use a comunal laundry room in my appartment building and use the IKEA bags to carry it up and down. If you can only use half a machine to use that thing it's not good, nor environmentally friendly..
Hey sweetie, - there is much more laundry in my machine than in yours, to be honest (large washing machine drum) because I have a family of 3 adults!! So that laundy turtle would never work for us!! I use a HUGE laundy basket and that works well! I have 2 side-by-side cabinets in which my washing machine and dryer are standing so that I no longer have to bend over. Under the shelf on which the machines are standing, there are pull-out shelves on which I can place my basket to empty the machine, and then after taking out the laundry I simply move the basket (sliding, so don't have to lift it!!) from one shelf (under washing machine) to the other (and load the dryer) and DONE!! EASY and extremely handy those cabinets when you can not bend over. - I put all the socks in a laundry bag (with zipper) and place that with the socks in, in the machines (washing- and drying machine) and this way I don't lose a single sock anymore! I've got those bags in 4 different sizes (small to larger) and it works like a charm (also use them for bras). - I use laundry pods and add fabric softener sheets to the dryer!! No dripping at all HAHAHA. Warm hugs from an old rebel-Pinkie
I don't see the need really for any of these. Also nice bloops. The most valuable tip I have for the soap dispenser coaster thingy is to save a lid from each of the previous bottles and use them in pairs with the current bottle. Looks like this. Pour your soap into a clean lid. Toss the lid with the soap into the washer. It will be cleaned with the load, no pouring and no dripping. Use the clean lid to put back on the bottle. It becomes a cycle. Not as helpful for economy sized jugs with a spigot but the trick there is to buy smaller once (coupons are handy for smaller sizes) and top off with the big jug which also pours, and faster, so you dont need the spigot at all.
My sock trick is.... Buy all the same socks, you still need to deal with keeping them together but they pair up quickly and inevitably you will have a hole and only need to throw away the holey sock, no both. Not acceptable for "fun sock people." Can gather in a lingerie bag to keep them separate but the bag can get tangled in the load and won't dry if it's overfull.
I also imagine it'll get tied up into a knot, or twisted around the agitator on top loaders
Its also completely invalidated by the use of a wash bag which does the same thing without the silly zips
Also the lovely sound of multiple hard pieces of plastic in your dryer
I'm pretty sure the idea is that you put them onto it after your take them off, so they never *_become_* loose and seperated
As for 'swooshing', it's really not an issue. The soap & water are naturally going to have turbulent flow through the entire machine and the chain of socks is still on a super flexible rope. The main thing i learned from this video is you need to swap your washer and dryer. Or reverse the doors if possible

Thank you so very much for the review. I really appreciate your reviews.
Thanks James, love the bonus bloopers❤
Love my Laundry Turtle! Clothes baskets always break or they're too bulky to maneuver. This has been a huge life changer for doing laundry and if it ever breaks, I'll certainly buy another.
LOL love the bloopers at the end of the video , James you should include the bloopers into every video 😂
I like the outtakes at the end. Nice touch.
Those of us with Trex arms can't always reach all the way in to get the clothes in the back
best thing is to have a top load washer, with a dryer with a door that drops down from the top instead of to the side like any other kind of door.... that way you just toss your wet clothes from the washer and toss them onto the door of the dryer and then close the door.... in they go... or at least if you are putting clothes into the dryer the drop down door will catch anything from falling to the floor.
I like the dispensers on the detergent and fabric softener.
Ooohhhh! We need more bloopers!!!! I loved it!
love the out takes 😂
Awesome video. Thanks for including the bloopers.😅
The SodkDock works fine. For socks ... as long as you've pulled it off your foot (inside out) before so it could be washed.
Then you sock is now clean from the inside, just like you washed your dirty body.
Love the bloopers James!
You should consider swapping the locations of your washer and dryer so the doors open away from each other rather than into each other.
I love the blooper reel. You should keep doing that
0:20 my goodness I can just see someone standing in front of there top loader wondering how to make this work….. 😂
the laundry turtle might be great for people who have to use an apartment building shared laundry room.
2:16 love the party boy music 😆
Of any of the items you reviewed in this video I think the SockDock is the one I would consider giving a try. Great video as usual.👍
The collapsible laundry baskets and hampers are a great invention, IMO! I have both and ❤LOVE❤ them!!!
Love these bloopers at the end ❤
Looks like 3 things nobody really needs, but it's your money
Love the bloopers!! The first one made me laugh - just moments before I had stood up and dropped an item, you sounded just like me!
I'm too cheap, i just use the lingerie/laundry bags from dollar tree. All my socks go in, get washed and then, well I'll be honest i just take them out of the bag when I need them (thankfully i have several of the bags)
Have a great evening!!
Turtle can also be replaced by a towel.
For the last one, I use that and think it's a great product.. until it gets near the end, that is. With detergent being thicker, I find it's easier to just take the back cap off and pour.
One and three I wouldn't use, but the sock keeper I would. Thank you!
If not....
A supermarket bag is better
Let me watch this video instead of doing my laundry
Do you just toss the whole thing in a drawer and pull out socks as you need them?
@@zarzee8925 I actually have it hanging from a hook and I just pull one off each day!
Thanks for the video and the review, can’t say that any of them impressed me.
The Laundry Turtle saves me time from transfering my clothes in one setting compared if you had a basket or no basket.
I love my laundry drip cup holders thing. I haven't had any issues with it breaking or falling off. you can catch an entire loads worth of drips with those cups.
I made one in 5 minutes from an old pop bottle…
Love the blooper reel James!
I have the exact same washer/dryer combo as you. Nice
Yes, you have a perfect number of Dad Socks. Congrats! 🧦
If socks fall of in dryer, it is not a big deal because it won't have any crevice/hollow space to disappear to.
The washing is where my socks usually looses one socks because when it spins, socks gets thrown to the other side of the drum where you can't reach in to retrieve the item (99%] of the time).
Laundry turtle seems like a solution looking for a problem. As you said, James, most of (if not all of us clothes washers) have laundry baskets.
Ahahaha! The laundry turtle looks like a huge pair of baggy underwear! 🤣
On a side note people tend to over use fabric softener they use downy when washing and bounce fabric softener sheets when drying you only need to do one or the other 😂
Shouldn't use fabric softener at all it's bad for the machines.
Yes please.
a laundry basket does the same, less time consuming and much cheaper.
Can I make you a pro footbag to review? You or Brandon play?
Also, the laundry turtle is awesome.
How many washer/dryers do you have!?
You sold me on the sock dock. ANYTHING to prevent me from having to match socks when they are done drying. Hope it works.
To stop laundry soap drips: I put the soap in an old Dawn dish soap squeeze bottle (50 oz.). Done. You can thank me later.
I have been using a towel to do this since the front load washers arrived in my apartment building many years ago,
As and aside,, those are interestingly designed detergent/softener bottles. I've not seen anything like them in the UK.
Right?! Never seen them either in NL
We have the tidy cup at home, and there is one feature you missed: whatever residue is left on the measuring cup stays in the cup, as opposed to snapping it back onto the container where detergent will seep out
Did you need to use a grabber device to get the cup out from behind the washer? I hate when something you need falls behind the W&D.
9:54 Well that's Lost Forever. 😂
E laundry turtle seemed handy for carrying your dry clothes with one hand and storing flat behind your hamper when you're done with it.
Hey sweetie,
- there is much more laundry in my machine than in yours, to be honest (large washing machine drum) because I have a family of 3 adults!!
The turtle is great for really short people who can't reach all the way in to grab those pesky socks!!!
