Great looking engine on those , and pretty solid too. Great bike for a project!

Nice project, seems you have a great motor to retrofit as well. I'm replacing my oil burner GL1100 motor with a GL1200 LTD and I will be using an aftermarket ECU instead of the original old stuff so it will also be a retrofit of some kind. Subbed

I really don't like the brown color. I'm working on a color design but it will be a surprise.
It will not be for sale.

I fully endorse you to do whatever floats your boat. But.....when I had my 1985 limited all I wanted was for it to be carburated and simple to work on. As you probably already know the 85 ltd. was fuel injected and when it ran it ran great. But when the sensors would go or the charging system would act up then the fuel injection would not work. It was a magic carpet ride when it ran but it was a no fun trying to figure out all of its inner workings. The real kicker is that Honda no longer sold all the parts of the fuel system. So you couldnt even replace parts to see what would get it to run again. Thats my story and I am sticking to it. I will follow your quest with excitement. Keep all the parts in case you want to go back to carbs......:)

It's such a funny thing that happened in 85 - 86 with the fuel injected models. I hadn't heard about those sensor issues but it makes sense. One sensor can end the ride quick. I'm hopeful that using more modern commonly sourced parts will negate some of those issues.
Second video goes up tonight where I start taking about some of the parts and ideas I have for injector location and stuff. I would appreciate some input on that stuff.

Cool project! I am restoring a non running 79 GL1000. Will be following. I like the black aftermarket turn signals. Did you install them? Would like to know the brand and model if you know.

Thanks for the comment. I hope the videos can be helpful for your project as well. I am super picky about how some of the stuff looks like the lights. One thing I was specifically avoiding was those little single bulb LEDs that people are so fond of using on custom projects like this. I like these ones because they aren't super aftermarket looking and they have good front surface area. They are plenty bright enough with out being obnoxious. Here is the link for them on Amazon.
