Cy is like Ramon Holt: At first, he acts serious around the precinct/crew because he doesn't feel connected to them. But once he warms up to them, he starts showing his witty side while still keeping his serious, cold exterior

Our everyday lives mean nothing to the grand scheme of time, yet it's all that we have, it's our narrow slice of eternity. Are both equally as valuable?
