- In the second semifinal game of the ACC Tournament, Juan Dixon, Terrence Morris and the 13th-ranked Maryland Terrapins go up against Jason Williams, Shane Battier and the 2nd-ranked Duke Blue Devils in a epic matchup.
Game played on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

The best rivalry of the 2000-2001 Season. 4 total games played, and each one was a classic. This was probably the best game of the 4 though, great game.
MD vs duke in early 2000s is to me a top 5 ncaa rivalry of all time
You saw Battier and Dixon at the end--supposedly Battier said to Dixon--"We'll see you again in the Final Four" For a couple of seasons Duke vs Md was the premier rivalry in the USA. Incredible memories!!
Amazing to think a Duke-UNC tourney final could somehow be a letdown.They were the #1 seed, yet this basically felt like the Duke-Maryland show. And perhaps rightfully so.
Was rooting for Duke but respected the heck out of that Maryland team. Those last 20 seconds with Blake's 3, James tip in, and Dixon nearly hitting from half court I was in tears because it was such an emotional game. Go ahead and make fun I do not care just love hoops man.
What a great rivalry that was! Every game so emotional so action packed!

I am glad both teams went on to win Championships! They brought out the best in both and had some legendary games, led by all time coaches!

It sure was...Great season by both teams and great games too.
Duke had 24ish free throws MD 14ish. Shocker. ACC refs in 90s and early 2000s loved the Dukies. It's wasn't a secret to anyone who watched the conference. If you wanted to beat Duke back then you better play a solid 5-10 pts better than them.
You're welcome man!!!!!! It's a travesty that the ACC.com does NOT even have this game on their website. I am kind of disappointed that Maryland will be leaving though!!! They've had some classic battles with the likes of Duke, Carolina and the other ACC schools.
I have the game during his freshman year against NC State during the ACC Tournament, both of his games against Wake Forest during his sophomore year and the game at Wake Forest his junior year. I do hope that I get his other great games, especially his Senior season.
I don't why Morris didn't pass it to Blake on that last play. Morris threw it into to Dixon who had someone near him. While Blake was wide open in front of him with room to shoot. Blake also just hit a game tying three. Either way it was a good game.

I will admit as a terps fan we blew the game at home this year and the final four game fair and square. But refs really screwed terps over in this game given duke shot twice as many free throws. And it's not like terps were ever thought of as a dirty team. MD out shot and killed duke on the boards. Terps played better should of won.
MD outrebounded Duke by like 15 and was like 12% better on fg % but Duke won because they got like 12 more free throws . Refs had to keep that Duke cash cow going.
Duke had made 5 more 3 pointers, and I love how blatantly you left out Maryland had 20 TO in this game also. Turn the ball over 20 times can make a difference in the outcome

Any chance you have Duke/Texas game from December 2005? Or Wake Forest @ Duke from the 2004/2005 season? A couple real good JJ Redick games IMO.
