I just got back from a cruise and wandered what happened if you were late getting back to the dock during a port of call. Watch the guy's reaction about 30 seconds in.
Idk man, Ive seen a fair few people be left behind on account of shore excursions organised by the cruise company itself running late. Though sometimes when that happens they organise further transport to either the next port of call or request one of the motorised lifeboats be sent out to pick the passengers up.

Alex, I think you may be confused. A ship won't leave port when a cruise line excursion is late (of course depending on HOW late) and will wait. Today, most of the 3rd party excursion providers will give as part of their package transportation to the next port of call if they get back to the port late and the ship is leaving or gone. Because of this option the 3rd party providers offer, many cruisers will opt to go with them as opposed to booking with the cruise line because of price. Here's the thing...ALL of you personal property is still on the ship INCLUDING your passport, medication etc. so travel will still be a bitch. Best bet, book an excursion with the cruise line for a little more. I've been on 13 cruises and have always booked excursions with the cruise line and have NEVER missed a sailing!
That is why I am weary about hiring a driver that will take us to where we want but it will take 6 hours and will only be in port for 8. Yes I know 2 hour different but kind of close...?

My sister-in-law was a chronic late person. She got pissed off when she showed up for my daughter's wedding and it was over. Told her it was 2 o'clock not 2:30. SORRY
May not teach a lesson! We had a guy on a trans-atlantic crossing that decided to smoke in his cabin. The crew found out and his onboard account was charged the fine of $250. Two days later, he did the same thing and was again charged another $250 because he thought after the first charge, that gave him allowance to smoke in his cabin. After the 2nd occurrence, he was removed from the ship at the next port!
I love how they were running and waving as if the ship was actually going to redrop anchor and roll out the docking ramps just so they could get back on board :D

That occurred to a couple of young ladies who just happened to occupy the cabin directly opposite the one my wife and I were occupying. It was some years ago and IIRC they turned up on the wharf just as the ship was departing Port Everglades & heading across the Atlantic to Europe. Fortunately for them a Pilot boat brought them out to the ship while it was still moving. I felt like writing the word Stupid on their door.

We joined the ship properly and had our cards scanned and everything but somehow they had us marked as missing. I have watched several of these videos and in some people have mentioned that the passengers who missed boarding had always been late in previous ports of call. Shouldn’t people who are late be fined?

How thoughtful for the passengers on the cruise ship to not have their holiday ruined by latecomers. Everybody has a watch and everybody knows all aboard time so these sauntering people deserve to be left.
Everyone who has ever been on a cruise knows that when they say disembarking at 5:00pm, they really mean 5:30pm. And they will still wait, after that, if they see you running for the ship. So, ANYONE who still misses the boat, deserves to be left behind, and pay the premium, to be reunited with their vessel. Although, it is fun to watch the reaction, when folks get left waving, at the dock. Or is that just me, lol?
My mom has mobility issues and rather than cause us any kind of potential delay she stays on the ship and relaxes and reads and enjoys the quiet of a nearly empty ship.
It’s not to hard to work out that you have to be back on board before it set sail , everybody’s told the time it leaves but people think it will wait for them but it as a leaving slot that it must take otherwise it costs more money for the cruise line !.
The ship should not have to do thus but I would suggest each passenger must pass a test to get off the ship. Do you understand that the ship will depart at 5 pm? That is based on ship time? If you are not on the ship by 5 pm, you will be left.
How nice of the people on the shore to wave goodby to the passengers. How thoughtful.

every cruise I've been on there have been fools like this. They have that mentality that " oh, they'll wait for us!". NOT! 😆😆😆😆
Bye bye! Love it!
Nice of them to wave the ship good by.
Did the ship depart on schedule? Then too bad so sad. They tell you to be back 15 minutes early.
What do people think all that waving is going to accomplish? The ship knows you aren't on board. It waited as long as it could.
I love a happy ending
Like they're hailing a taxi. LOL!
Why would you be late? I would try to get back an hour or more before the limit time
What’s with the title? Don’t you mean ‘Missing your cruise ship because you were late ‘?
Hey, it worked with the bus! All I had to do was wave... they stopped and came back
The ship should not have to do thus but I would suggest each passenger must pass a test to get off the ship. Do you understand that the ship will depart at 5 pm? That is based on ship time? If you are not on the ship by 5 pm, you will be left.
That cruise ships sailed with several thousand passengers, and 99.9% of them got themselves back on the ship before it pulled the gangplank up. So....
Well - get a watch and be on time, that's the answer.
how are you going to just casually walk back when you are that late?
They weren’t “left “ by the ship. They pretended to hurry and the ship pretended to wait. A little disentitlement can be a good thing.
