    I would love it if bethesda threw away with the creation kit and opted for UE4. I'm getting strong vibes for a vallenwood setting with this video

      @frostreaper1607 7 років тому +1

      I feel sorry for Beth dev's, I really do. Compared to the Creation Engine, U4E is 100% more user friendly to use and has specific tools for big environments. Everything is optimized to make a dev's life better while CE feels like its all made to work against you by how old and clunky it is. I really hope someday the'll realise that despite their current pipeline the would actually be more productive and fast if they'd use U4E (or Unity I guess, not familiar with that one atm)

    • @Tomble
      @Tomble  7 років тому +2

      every in house engine is usually designed for very specific needs. CD Projekt Red originally wanted to go with UE4 for the witcher, but needed some features UE4 did not support, so they coded their own engine.

    • @FamaSicura
      @FamaSicura 7 років тому +1

      UE gives you access to their entire c++ codebase (you can even submit changes to Epic that could potentially go live for everyone)... ie: any company can extend UE to suit their needs... These companies DO NOT build their own engines because of what the engines can and cant do... they do it because they don't want to pay the royalties... they may say it's about the excitability of the framework but that's gibberish considering you can write in whatever your needs are.

    • @Tomble
      @Tomble  7 років тому +1

      True. It's just for the case of cd projekt red I've heard rumors that there was a specific feature for their questsystem that wouldnt work well with ue4. however, yeah the 5% royalties are definitely a main reason to create an own engine.

    Would be REALLY amazing if you'd make a few tutorials giving the basics on how you achieve the effects you're doing in your speed designs.
    Materials, shaders, lightning, particle effects, post processing, composition etcetc.
    All the best!

      @Tomble  8 років тому

      Hey :) I have written this article about another one of my videos ( www.therookies.co/tools-techniques/how-to-make-a-game-more-immersive/ ) and I am always streaming these designs as I do them every friday on twitch where I answer all questions. However I might make a little "tutorial-ish" kinda video in the future :) But probably not gonna have time before mid summer :)

    How do you have the Camera Actor active in the viewport while working on other things? When i click on something else, the camera view goes away.

    • @Tomble
      @Tomble  7 років тому

      In the Camera Preview there is a little pin icon. click it and it will stay. But keep in mind that you might get performance issues as having this active means double the rendering

    Looks good, but if you want to do level design, you can't start from a single angle. you and many other youtubers create a moving pictures, not actual levels.
    Would definitely not call this level design, sorry.

    • @Tomble
      @Tomble  7 років тому +1

      Just FYI. I work as a Level Designer professionally. So your crazy next level knowledge about the job is really impressive. Maybe thats why these videos are not called level design. ever thought about that? Ever cam to your mind that speed is not referring to the timewarp on the video but actually means a vertical slice? And if you'd have had a look at some other videos on my channel you'd have known that i do not always build for only one angle and that this video series that i did last year is something way different than my actual job and I am well aware of the fact. Thanks you for pointing it out though sherlock.

    • @Tomble
      @Tomble  7 років тому +1

      And being the professional, let me add this. You can definitely apply general rules and guidelines of environment art and level design in these small scenes. That is what separates the good from the bad ones. And for beginners I'd even say it's a good way to start learn about composition, edge direction, light and all elements that play in important role on a small scale
      So in conclusion.
      Would definitely call this Level Design, sorry buddy.
