i remember seeing this game in a store and immediately thinking: the sheer amount of people that will buy this for their small children because of the art style without looking at the 18 year age tag is going to leave many children scarred, terrified or simply just confused.
"Binary Star is a bad game" *Angry madokajack sounds* Edit: It's a game about exploring the world - considering their budget, they did a great job, even if the tutorial was tacked on at the last moment. As for the ending at the altar, Dechuanga is a hidden boss. Also, the game was developed and released before much of the 6th layer had been explored, so they didn't have a choice but to end it there. FWIW, I loved it, even the frustrating parts, but it very much is a game intended for thr fans.
As someone who played it for 60 hours. I fuggin love this game. I played it on release and already want to go back to it. I never understood the hate. I feel like most people played the story campaign which serves as a tutorial and think that's it. The actual game loop of this game is so genius and fun that i just couldn't stop playing. So no this game does not suck. It is not for everyone and being a fan of the anime/manga certainly helps but the game does so many things right that i can't accept people trying to frame it as objectively bad. Not to say that i don't agree with some points made, i just reach a different conclusion.
At the moment I saw it was being made by Chunsoft, and it was a 3D adventure game I knew this game was cooked, good anime into game adaptations are very far and between. Good vid as always alex!
I always thought Made in Abyss would make an awesome game, but only if you were playing as a "robot" like Reg, and not some kid. Imagine flying around with those grappler arms, using that laser as an ultimate move, being realistically able to take a beating from all threats in the Abyss, and not having to worry about the curse.
Fr I was thinking of a game where you would switch between Reg and Riko; one for combat and flying around and one for gathering resources and everything else. It would go so hard.
Ooh, the bosses aren't Bondrewd's droids, it's Interference Devices like the one you meet in 6th layer in manga. They exist on every layer and are made by someone who also made Reg. Also: I used cheats and had a great time. So it's not all bad.
@asra-5180 I will probably have a terrible time doing so, for I am a casual gamer. I don't like hard things and I played to enjoy the lore, music and scenery. I believe that everyone should play games in the way that brings them the most joy. Because the primary purpose of art and entertainment is, after all, pleasure. Unfortunately, while I respect people playing kaizo, I don't enjoy it myself as much.
I've been so tempted to play this as a Made In Abyss fan but I keep hearing how bad it is at the same time. After watching the video, I think I'll give this game a skip...
Made in Abyss, haven't kept up with the story in years, though it was cool hearing about it again. The series has so much potential as a video game, hopefully there will be a more solid and complete one made going forward.
Played the game on PC and enjoyed it. But definitely only for made in abyss fans. The game is jank, and the world and graphics are severely heldback by requiring switch compatibility. But it did expand on the made in abyss story. Gave a better understanding on the first few layers and relics. The manga feels quite fast at the first like 4-5 layers. The anime doesnt go into too much detail on the first few layers, its monsters, and orth. The story for the game is honestly whatever. I was able to figure out my own route in and out of each layer. And one note about those ropes, dont buy that stuff. Just craft it. The 2nd layer has tons of those plants that can be crafted into rope. I maily like it letts you understand the layout a bit better, and really lets you understand the monsters on each layer
@ it was interesting for the first 5 hours of playing it then reminded of me of maple stories and Puella Magi had a kid and this pop out with the side of extreme difficulty,. After beating it i was left kinda disappointed with the ending but I enjoyed it in the sense it was different from other games I have played. Like if the ending showed us a sneak preview of what else is happening in the world. It would have been a solid ending. I would be happy if they were to make a sequel. (Btw I only played this because I forgot to download Ender Lilies, on a 14 hour car ride.)
actually, playing as red whistle bondrewd up to him becoming a white whistle would be amazing. that said that's way too much effort for these devs lol.

In the manga, they showed there are invisible fields that cause the effect, so its not moving up anywhere that causes it.
Nanachi very good 👍

Fair enough, i appreciate the measured response :)
I literally started this game yesterday 😂
Haha - it starts strong! But yeah, would love to hear your thoughts if you get far into it!
At the moment I saw it was being made by Chunsoft, and it was a 3D adventure game I knew this game was cooked, good anime into game adaptations are very far and between. Good vid as always alex!

they made a switch port?

Ahhh you’re correct, I see it now with that design they have going on - thanks for pointing that out!
"I used cheats and had a good time" okay, now do it without you dirty cheater...

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't worth the 60 dollar price.
60$??? crazy
@ReidAstrea yeah, that was the pirce on steam, when I bought it

It's a game for the fans - I definitely enjoyed it, but I'm also a die-hard fan of the series.
I played it

I wish… no such luck
@alexenterprises1 not much to adapt anyway

At least the soundtrack is great
Like always 😎
Thanks for the vid
I played it but didn't finish. What is the music you used around the end of the video?
I like this game, just hate the first part is a super boring tutorial that made many people quit before even getting to the character creator
I still have to watch the latest season
Definitely worth watching :)
Changed your pfp and I missed a video 😢
I like it. But I never watched the show or read the manga.
Wow, what did you think of the story? Very interesting to imagine this with fresh eyes.

why are you british?
I know, please send help.
is they really wanted an original story they could have made where you play as Bondrewd, the coolest character in the story lol
actually, playing as red whistle bondrewd up to him becoming a white whistle would be amazing.
that said that's way too much effort for these devs lol.
@oscarlove4394 yeah it would be too much effort xD
Like seeing him progressively getting stronger and more op would make for a good action game
No thanks im good
