The Greatest Eurorack Module Ever... Times 2??
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Ornament & Crime is one of the most popular modules in Eurorack, and it's no secret that we absolutely love the esoteric and creative design... So you can imagine our excitement when we discovered that Beige Maze created an alternative firmware called Hemisphere Suite that takes the module in bold, new directions. Here, we begin our journey across the Hemisphere, with videos on each of the more than 60 modes coming soon.

Thank you for this excellent introduction! I'm gratified that musicians have found value in this project.
The real question is, can you beat my automated Pong high score (27)?
Is that a gauntlet being thrown down?? I guess we will have to find out...
Thank you for this mate
As someone who's been away from their main Eurorack since April, the O_c is probably the one module I missed the most... Looking forward to finally building another one! Would you ever see your doing a video on the Plum Audio OCP? DIY O_C with enhancements.
Love from India!
Receiving one copy this week, your videos will help. Thanks !
Can scaleduet be a sostitute of scales module?
Dude... You've been a lifesaver with these videos.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for watching!!!
John Walsh giving us America's Most Wanted. My man what's up. Thanks bro
I prefer Joe Walsh - Life's Been Good...
1u Apex from Plum Audio is another super awesome module with many functions.
a bit of a noob question but if I install Hemispheres can I still access the other O_C apps if I don't want to use Hemispheres? sequins etc? or does it overwrite?
No, a very early and limited version of Hemisphere (which wasn't called "Suite" yet) was able to run side by side the regular apps, replacing the Meta-q app only. But the suite completely replaces the default apps and the settings you saved for them.
@@danieldixon2174 which is a total shame today, since there are now a bunch of relatively niche (yet useful, sure) add-ons in the suite - captain midi, enigma, darkest timeline, pong - that are taking the place of screensavers and original O_C modes. a configuration wizard that lets the user brew their own suite, even down to the individual applets in hemispheres (!), would be so sweet. but so would a million bucks. ultimately, though, with O_C and the work put into it, this is like complaining that it's too warm on a sunny beach full of sexy people.
Looking forward to seeing more of these!
Thanks for watching!
I have plans to get the 1u version! it looks so amazing!
Ugh I want one of those so bad!
It does look slim. Do you know what the VOR support is?
@@mcshafty1 VOR makes you select the CV range in both input and output, but the hardware needs to support it too. The problem with O_c is that the range by default is a bit weird (-3/+6) so VOR can fix that so it can be set to -5/+5 or 0/-10
@@danieldixon2174 and VOR is a programm or what?
@@danieldixon2174 Thanks Daniel
Is the Quadrature LFO in Hemisphere??
Yes! So thankful you are doing this firmware.
Thanks for watching!!
Great video! What’s the reasoning behind mounting the module upside down and how do you do this?
This is the “inverted” version of Hemisphere suite, the idea being that the jacks can be at the top of the module and the screen at the bottom, making it easier the play and film!
So I recently bought the Disting MK4 but there's a part of me that wishes I would've bought this one instead.
I have a couple Disting mk3 and two O&C's one normal, and the other running hemisphere. I would say that the disting has more practical uses and that hemisphere has a few more esoteric functions. Both are worth having.
Second the original poster. I seldom use my disting4 but i often use at least one utility of the hemispheres, because no need for a manual. Its more immediate with the visual feedback. BUT i do miss the quantization from the O_C. Its way superior to the Hemispheres Quants.
@@stephanmobius1380 It's a pretty inexpensive module to build. I have two of them, one running each firmware
I know the disting will be great... who knows, maybe pair it with a o&c next!
@@voltagecontrollab I'm going to need a bigger case!
yes!!! it will be usefull thanks. I looking forward a new tutorials for Hemisphere
Thank you, more coming soon!
This is fantastic - thank you! I escaped the city due to the pandemic and this was one of the few modules I took with me to fill my “evacurack”. Very excited to deep dive this module along with your videos while exiled from my studio!
Awesome! Great timing I guess! Thanks for watching!!
started watching the O_C vids when I picked one up last week, and could have sworn I knew you from somewhere. Then this thumbnail replenished my memory, talked to you a bit at Synthplex! Hope all is well with you, and thanks for all the vids, crazy helpful. Can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for these upcoming hemisphere videos 😈
Small world! Glad the videos have been helpful, thank you for watching!
Voltage Control Lab cheers! It’s a synth world after all
So awesome! Does this firmware run on existing O&C hardware?
Yes it does! Pretty sure it can run on any of the o&c units as far as I know...
Yep, it runs on any O&C. It's easy to install over usb and just as easy to go back if you don't like it
what would you pay for a used o&c?
Tough question... Why would anyone SELL it to begin with, would be my concern! Price wise, I'd look on reverb and see what the going rate is for used ones. There are a lot of different form factors, so that's also complicating things.
Couldn't find anything about this anywhere, with Hemisphere, (as well as the additionial apps) the left encoder is mirrored: turning clockwise, values go down, counter clockwise, values go up. Annoying as hell. Is it a bug or a 'feature'?
That sounds like a bug for sure...
Voltage Control Lab Dang it 😕
Hit up the github and send the designer an email. He’s very responsive and will likely fix it quick...
Voltage Control Lab, Chysn is indeed responsive: Encoder directions can be specified within the calibration mode, using the lower or down pointing tact switch in the order: normal > R reversed > L reversed > LR reversed. Cheers.
oh no if i upgrade my hemisphere do i have to calibrate it? i dont know if my tools are precise enuff for that
AFAIK, you don't need to. Obviously you will lose the regular firmware apps and all the settings you saved for them.
@@danieldixon2174 maybe i got it wrong then cause i already got hemisphere and thought its about a update of hemisphere
just got it new and have to discover all the functions right now i am using mainly sequencers and quantizers from hemisphere
Thank you thank you thank you!
Thank YOU!
@@voltagecontrollab I've built 4 so any extra insights into the functions has to be invaluable.
