- Assembling the L-shape Hyllie beige version is here - • IKEA Friheten L-shape ...
Let's set up a IKEA Friheten Sofa, in this case black leatherette fabric version, in time lapse and see how it looks. It's doable by one person but much faster with two sharing the work for sure.

Hello, how long did it take to assemble it? Thank you!
Thanks for the video clueless dad!!!
by any chance do you still have instructions manual? Now I need to disassemble this!
you can find the instructions on ikea's website. One the order page for each product (I think they still sell this one...)
any update on Bomstad ? I am thinking about it but I kinda afraid that is not worth it... due to peeling...
How is it holding up?
Any similar cheaper ones?
Thank youuuuuuu!!
1) Can this be moved easily within the living room or between rooms?
2) can this be moved while changing the apartment?
3) any cons you have experienced untill now of using ?
thanks for the questions -
1) not easily, its not that light, and pretty big, so you'd need wide doors to get it from room to room without having to have multiple people lift it up.
2) yes, we moved this one from our old office to our new office. I believe the movers put it on a board with roller wheels and then tipped it up on its end to get it through the door ways and into the elevator. so in other words - yes professional movers can handle it easily.
3) For this particular sofa, no but we never used it as a bed. as a sofa its held up fine. I have the L-shaped cloth version for my home now (upcoming video....) and that one is also fine, but I don't like how they cheaped out on fabric on the cushions (there's a panel on the back of each cushion that you can't see when its put in place, that isn't the same fabric.... )

Thanks for sharing!
Do you still have it. How has it handled
It's held up fine, its been about 3 years (although since its an office use case, it isn't sat on nearly as much as if it were used at a home)
Looks like a casting couch 😂
don't ask, don't tell!
Yeah those were back in the days where you have huge space to audition now we just have a stool and it's not even padded. I hopefully become famous one day 🙂
I just bought this couch and am trying to assemble it by myself. I've got everything together except I cannot figure out how to get the arms to lock into place. It's like something is blocking it from going flush enough against the couch to slide into place. How did you get them on so easily?
Nick Harville if I recall you do have to push down kind of hard. And there’s no click to tell you it’s in place.
Try switching sides? Maybe it matters which side you put it on?
Yea same problem here. The screw heads protrude and block it from sliding. Plus you skipped the Allihn wrench thing. They have the most bizzare thing were the allihn locks into a bracket.
I have exactly the same problem now...how did you guys fix it? it is so annoying..
I recommend to use some washers when you fix the the white plastic wages.. The plywood from the sides does not let them to connect..
You don't need to push hard.. You will destroy the plastic wages.. Should go easy in...
Thinking about purchasing this product for a teen's room. How is it holding up so far? Thanks.
Can you purchase one for my teen's room, too?
Is there artificial leather smell ?
Wow.. is hard work 😓 thanks for sharing
Step 25 and 26 don't work the piece keeps removing off from the nail... how did you make?
it doesn't lock together? (or you can't get the screw holes to line up after its slid into place?)
@@CluelessDad from vertical when I slide it flat the the nails remove from the holes and I need to reststt over again obtaining thr same result
Great video thanks, what's it like to sleep on?
luttrell1973 actually we haven’t used it as a bed yet. Since it’s used in the office.
does anyone have the direction book for this couch?
try here - www.ikea.com/us/en/assembly_instructions/friheten-three-seat-sofa-bed__AA-1881214-6_pub.pdf
there are better videos how to assemble this in detail
Can we do the entire assembly using just the allen ranges provided or do we need the electric driver as well ?
Generally they keys that come with it enough but his little driver does seem to help a lot
I just bought and put this sofa together. I am under the impression that the seat is tilted. Have you experienced it too? When I sit on it I feel the back of the seat goes down, and thus my knees are higher than my butt. I am wondering if this is by design or if it goes away with time.
hmm, no i haven't experienced this on this sofa or a second one (the L-shaped type) that I also assembled. both are pretty flat.
double check that you tightened everything well?
@@CluelessDad thank you! Either we put it together wrongly or it has a defect. I will make pictures and drive to IKEA to see what they propose.
Hi , I saw this sofa before but it had one white girl on it and 6 black men in the back
Please reply
Hi, I would like to know how long have you had this sofa and the bomstad material is still in good condition? Has it peel or tear? Do you recomend this faux leather or the fabric version instead?
hi, we've had this one for about 2 years now. it has held up well but we don't sit on it that much (its used in a office waiting area).
I've had the fabric one (Hyllie beige one), and that is nice too. holds up well (we use it at home and have kids jumping on it all the time). I think the biggest positive of the bomstad is wiping away spills....
Is it the size of a full mattress?
Were the boxes the same length as the sofa?
the dimensions of the boxes should be on the IKEA website. If I recall its shorter slightly, since the arm rests are part of the over all width of the sofa, but not attached in the box of course.

Any chance you could avoid using the side frames of this sofa? I see it's 90 inches long but without the sides, it'd be a perfect 80 for me (or 85 if I keep the shorter side). I'm thinking drill new holes in the back frame and edges of the chaise to screw in the legs...thoughts?
I think you'd basically end up having to remake the side pieces but thinner.... so not an easy feat, especially if you want it to still be able to fold flat....
@@CluelessDad thanks for responding!
Comfortable?
Like for the name 😊
How’s the fake leather quality? Please reply
It's OK. I don't think anyone will confuse it with real leather, at least not when they sit on it.
But it looks professional.
@@CluelessDad thanks you so much 🥰
@@CluelessDad i just bought it, will it start to crack over time??
sorry, UA-cam flagged your comment for review for some reason.
We've had that sofa for 2.5+ years and it seems to be holding up well so far. (but we don't use it a LOT, it sits in our reception area now).
it agitates your lungs
Assembled this buy myself and it took 5.5 hours
i can believe it! i did the L-shaped one too (not released yet) and it was a pain too.
Takes way to long - horrible.
