Thanks for sharing your knowledge bro. Ive been holding off installing my EVA over the last 6 months trying to find the right vid / tutorial to give me the confidence in having a crack. Really well-articulated cuz! Chur churrrr
Great video! Very helpful. Thanks mate. One more tip. If you don’t want the aluminium showing between the gaps, you can paint the floor first in a nice contrasting colour.
Awesome video! I was thinking about installing some instead on replacing it with carpet. I was curious though what the process would look like on a wood deck vs a metal one.
I would score the surface very lightly with sand paper to remove any dirt and rough up the surface to give better adhesion. Then make sure it is clean as possible before laying the product.
Hey man just want to say thanks for all of your reviews and thoughts on frewza boats, had been looking for ages for this kind of reviews couldn’t find anything let alone the depth you go into. I am getting a F14 beach launching dinghy I was already adding a few things to suit me half the reason I went frewza but after watching some of your content I will be emailing Frewza about the floor being flat to the pontoon. Thanks for the info and sweet fishing and hunting content
If it is hard to peel, does it mean it may damage fibreglass floor (if the boat is fibreglass) while the matting may need to be repaired/replaced? With the sealant it may better prevent any water go under the mat? Sorry I never do this before so just a little bit concerning.
I'm actually gonna install this stuff on top of my boats carpet. I know that sounds wacky but I'll finish the edges with stainless screws and finish washers so it'll look really nice and can't move regardless of the situation. Your thoughts???
yeah i don't know about that, what is the benefit doing it that way rather than removing carpet first? but then again, I am more of a do it once, do it right kind of guy...
@@SteadliestCatch Just thought it'd be a little more cushy and still couldn't move at all. I may even do some finishing screws in the center of each panel, I'll see how it goes 🤔
Holds up just fine, although we did end up with a few rips from transporting hunting dogs. good thing about this stuff is you can just replace panels if needed - I never did. Sold this boat now but I just did the same thing on the new one. I love the stuff

Thanks for the clear video! Great. My polyester boat has some kind of structure on the surface of the floor, for grip. It’s just polyester as well. On your experience with this foam, you guess it will still stick? In your video it looks like the adhesive it pretty strong. Tnx for your reply.
I am not sure sorry, I have no experience with laying it on anything but aluminium. Best to ask the manufacturer. If you are in NZ call nz rubber and foam, they should be able to tell you
@@downwind73Did you manage to find out if it sticks sufficiently to a polyester surface? If so could you recommend where to buy it...I am from The Netherlands as well. Cheers.
Nope, the adhesive is very strong providing you have prepped the surface correctly. Just keep petrol and other solvents off it as it will dissolve the afhesive
Good idea with the paint roller! Hard to say as sheet sizes sometimes vary with different suppliers. I used two sheets on the F16 with pretty much nothing left over
Giday mate , great video there . Enjoy watching your clips , looking forward to the boat review as I'm in the market for a new boat and I'm stick between a few . Cheers Joe

Hi mate. Nice boat! What size outboard did you go for? I am looking at a second hand 2016 F16 on Trademe. It’s got a 60hp Honda 4 stroke. In your experience of the F16, would that be too underpowered? Usually just fish 2 of us, and all fishing and no diving gear. Cheers! Mark.
Cheers mate! I went for a Honda 90hp 4 stroke. 60hp is 100% underpowered, the amount of people I see replacing the 60 down the track is proof enough. The 60hp is just a way of keeping the cost down from factory so it’s more affordable for buyers - something frewza is VERY good at! In my honest opinion I couldn’t imagine anything less than an 80hp for the F16, especially if you are adding heavy mods like bait tank, underfloor tank, thicker hull, twin batteries etc. You could JUST about get away with it if it was a no mod hull, in calm conditions and not loaded up at all, but it would still piss you off!
@@SteadliestCatch Haha. I thought so. I was wondering why it hadn’t sold on Trademe, given the crazy boating market currently! Tossing up between a second hand 2007 Osprey 450 with 50hp Honda 4 stroke (super stable but quite narrow) or a new Senator RC500 with Yammie F90 (new and roomier, but 2.5 times the price of the Osprey). What’s your choice between these two?
@@markhirst3888 I would go with the senator, the ospreys are great, solid boats and used a lot commercially down here in Tasman bay, but in my opinion their design is lagging behind the new generation of boats. The senator are great boats and probably the best riding pontoon boat on the market, but at 2.5times the price? 🤔 is there not any other F16’s out there?
@@SteadliestCatch I took the Osprey for a test drive out The Cut (I am in Nelson too) and it was very solid, but also admittedly very flat! I have had a Senator 580 hardtop about 10 years ago and they are great boats so I expect the RC500 would be too. The 2007 Osprey is only 20k and the Senator is in stock at a dealer new for 56.5k (it has extras like raised sides, bait board, guide poles, walk through transom, and a mid range Simrad sounder). A new and roomier boat than the Osprey but 36.5k more! Need something for fishing Stephen’s Island every now and then. Haven’t seen any other F16s for sale but were a couple for sale about a month ago but not with the right outboard.
@@markhirst3888 yeah the Frewza price tag a good in between - if you are patient I may be selling mine after summer 🤫 . The senator is definitely the upper end of the $$ scale.
Great job brother, what scissors are you using. Ive used a blade but love the scissor idea as it gives me more precise cutting. Also, you can use low adhesive clear contact paper for perfect stencils. 🤙🏼
You should of used some black sikaflex, to stop water penetrating under the edges. Yes it will eventually get under, and then the sticky film is useless.
I've used ultralon and Chinese 3m Eva foam I think ultralon even though a great product the adhesive product they use is terrible compared to 3m adhesive Eva foam.
I used Ultralon on the last boat and our current work boat with no issues whatsoever. I have had the Chinese 3m adhesive on some other products (LED strips) and it wouldn’t not hold at all
@@SteadliestCatch yea I've had same issues with led strips but is far better on the foam products wish ultralon had the option of 3m makes a massive difference especially when applying larger pieces much more forgiving

I don’t recommend painting aluminium of any kind unless you want issues down the track.

For what purpose? With a properly prepped surface you would struggle to peel this stuff off.

What would you recommend doing to a seam on a plywood floor if installed similar to yours vs. a whole sheet ?
