- Milling an incense cedar log that is too large for a Woodmizer LT15 Start on a Woodmizer LT15 Start Sawmill. Dealing with all the things and problems that come along with doing such a thing. Opening it up to see what it looks inside to decide if I want to mill it into slabs or just regular lumber.
A couple nice table tops and some premier slabs to book match for chests, boxes or other.
Well, just 'wasted' 15 mins enjoying another one of your excellent vids when I should be outside running in a rebuilt saw billeting next year's firewood in the logging brake... Gorgeous looking sawn timber. I'd love to be lumbered with that log and an LT15 here in the UK.....
Great content! I think if I ever get a Woodmizer it will be the LT 15 Wide Model. Then I don't have to mess around with the stick, just load and cut.
"Let's see what kind of trouble we can get into..." Prophetic ?
(Reminds me of the most terrifying phrase I've ever heard: "Hey Sarge, what's this button do?" Closely followed by: "Hey guys, watch this!")
Cheers from a slowly drying Linn County.
At least I didn’t say, hey y’all, hold my beer.
"If I played the lottery, I'd go buy a ticket today..." It never works that way for me.
The timing of the fuel/log-end/top-off-tank ratio would have used up all the luck for that day; best I could hope after that much was a good nap. But, that's just me.
Cheers from a raining and once again, soggy Linn County
Hard to go wrong with a good nap. Most of the time I find t hose have good odds.
Good call on milling it backverd, It turned out some beautiful lumber.
Truly beautiful slabs! Thanks oe=r another great informative video!
Thanks for watching and commenting David.
The little mill that could...with a bit of help from Stihl...sounds familiar for some reason.
Yes it is familiar. I think I remember seeing a couple guys somewhere named Paul and Andy doing something similar.
@@WilsonForestLands Except they weren't smart enough to do it backwards and got the saw stuck. For your comment readers...I am the Paul mentioned above so I'm not picking on others! 😁
@@southernadirondackoutdoors I would like to say I learned from those guy's mistake and never did that myself. But that would not be correct. 😁
I’ve only milled a few species. My mentor loved big sugar pine but for me it was always cedar. Beautiful log! 👍🏼
As you stacked all those little pieces of wood together you probably noticed it to be a lot of handeling. You will also have to handle it again to get it into the house. What I do now is when I cut the wood stack it on end in a large plastic planter tub. When that gets filled I tie a piece of cheap clothes line around it to make a tight bundle and stack that. Make it all into bundles and when winter rolls in it’s easier to fetch one or two bundles than to fiddle with all those loose pieces. It works for me.
Another great video. That Cider Log makes beautiful lumber. See you on the next one .
Thanks Jamie, see you there.
Nice boards.
Yep, thanks for watching and commenting.
I agree with you the way you done that. That's some very nice looking lumber
Thanks Joey.
@@WilsonForestLands you're welcome
Little lat to the post, just curious how often you have to change the blade on the sawmill?
Like your videos! Recently found the channel, good work!
Nice job on the log.
Thanks G W
My dad, named Wayne, passed recently...Wayne reduction.
Not to make light of your loss; but that's my kind of (dark) humour.
No worries L. That was my old man's sense of humor...deadpan.... I laughed out loud as I posted it...He would have too...Glad your laughing along as well...
I second what L Peterman said. I think the ability to find humor and even the most tragic situation’s is a good thing. I am sorry for your loss but thank you for posting that. That was hilarious.
That’s done beautiful cedar. Some nice slabs came out of it. Excellent educational BACKFERD Milling 😂 hey working with what you bought might have limitations , but working around the limitation what makes it rewarding…nice job. Thanks for sharing.
@@MsdMakingSawDust Well said!
Turn the log 90 degrees
Nice jab at the swing blade sawmill owners. 🤣They are certainly great for making dimensional lumber from big logs. What was the cost difference between the LT15wide and regular mills when you got yours?
Nothing against the swing blade mills owners. It was in response to one commenter on a past video. My way of perpetuating the childishness. 😁
Mine is the LT15 Start. The lowest end model I think. It was on sale for $4500 or something like that. I think some of the higher end ones were 10k or more.
What did you do with the slabs?
Shes a beaut clarke
It may not light up the neighborhood but definitely a beaut.
THAT was a fantastic incest cedar log. The slabs were very beautiful. Was it the butt log?
Dave
Thanks Dave. Yes that was the butt log of the big Cedar I pulled out of the canyon. I would say I lost the video of where I mentioned that but it’s more likely that I forgot to mention it.
Why shucks that ain't no log unless you wanna name it Lincoln I would be ashamed to put something that small on my harbor freight sawmill...it's just to bad you can't afford a good one like mine
You tried to fool me in the trading mills once, I’m still not falling for it. 😁
@@WilsonForestLands lol cheers
