I just love the way David says "Although he, to give him credit, is dead." It's just a completely random and impromptu aside, but he delivers it so perfectly.
The fun part about discovering this series in 2022, is the number of things that were preposterously false in 2010 are now true. Maybe "fun" is not the right word.
@@dobbsmill3676 she has s anything but stupid, stop being so harsh. Just because she can appear whimsical does not make her stupid. She is also incredibly humane and supportive of people, so I encourage you to reconsider your tone.
I know he's married, blah blah blah, but I love the chemistry between Josie Long and David Mitchell. They would have made an adorable couple -- in my fantasy world where I force celebrities to date one another.
Tina Walton David seems so happy with Victoria that I can’t imagine him with another woman. Having heard his story with her I decided in my mind that I want a romance like theirs, so I cannot vision something else ahahaha
My god. I watched this show when it came out, around a decade ago, and have watched every season of Taskmaster UK as they aired. I did not realize that the man in this episode was Tim Key. When I saw him on Taskmaster, I thought it was the first time I had seen him. It's not important, but it is an epiphany for me.
Genuinely is astonishing that David Mitchell had never heard of Ghostwatch until this. If I was making a list of things from 1992 that he was at least aware of, it would've been somewhere in the top 10.
Having been a neurodivergent (ADHD + autism) and homeschooled child during the 90s and early 2000s, I can attest that it is possible to miss all contemporary pop culture during your childhood. I spent my formative years watching Humphrey Bogart movies from the "Golden Age" of Hollywood and British sitcoms from the late 20th century. I have learned about pop culture and news from that era retroactively, through programs like The Big Fat Quiz and such. David has always been open about having anxiety since childhood. People with atypical brains tend to live atypical lives.
Well, since ghosts aren't real he probably would have ignored such a show since he's a fairly logical person. I know I ignore those shows, so it makes sense to me at least.
ROBERT WEBB NEXT EPISODE! I WAS HOPING LOL. I love those two; naturally. Mark and Jez are imaginary family to me at this point; I can even read their minds. It's horrific
the snail thing is somewhat true, idk about specifically acne but in japan they use snail in facial skin products :l i bought a bb cream that turned out to have caviar in it..JAPAN.
Josie long grew up in Orpington. Thats not really Kent. Thats practically London. I live in Tunbridge Wells.... thats proper Kent. She is right though, it is full of racists. but posh racists.
I know it's been a long time since you wrote this comment. I sometimes see pictures of parts of Kent and I think, if that's the garden of England, they've tarmaced over it. I'm sure the rural parts are much nicer.
@@davimurph Yeah Kent is really hit and miss. The parts nearer London are especially grim, but as you get more south and nearer East Sussex it becomes much nicer. East Sussex in general is a bit more of a garden than Kent now-a-days I feel.
Why do they put the TVs, phones and things back in the house after every episode? Seems like it would be a lot less work to just take them out on the first episode and leave them out until the end of the series.
I think they just took a video of them taking everything out before the first episode and then kept everything out afterwards and just showed the same tape for the rest of the episodes in the series.
Ben Rowe Sorry, I considered the option that you were making a joke but decided that it was potentially more likely that you were being serious since the joke seemed a bit, well, lame (sorry!). Hope I haven't ruined the joke. As Jimmy Carr (and I'm sure other people) once said: "analyzing a joke is like dissecting a frog: no one's that interested and the frog dies", right?
akaianc I guess considering the general quality of youtube comments, it's easy to believe that people really are stupid enough to say something like that seriously... still, I prefer to give the benefit of the doubt to comments. If nothing else, at least it means I get to read more jokes every day.
I'm America. On each of the prior episodes, 1 recognized one or more of the celebrities. (I watch QI when it's not blocked, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and others.) I don't believe I know any of these people.
damo2353 hey, my bad. If you can genuinely find amusement in pretending to be stupid enough to confuse two people who have nothing in common except a species, a gender, and a first name, then more power to you. Your life must be full to the bursting point of hilarious moments. I wish I could find enjoyment in such extremely simple things.
tom wagner Each to their own. If you didn't find it amusing then fair enough. No need to be so unpleasant about it. Would you speak to someone like that face to face, or do you your save vulgar outbursts for your online persona?
damo2353 If I have something to say, online or in person, I say it, even if it ends up sounding more unpleasant than originally intended. My bad for being a dick, its not your fault I'm in a bad mood. (edit: fixed spelling)
damo2353 Honestly, part of me was serious, by the way. I do honestly wish I didn't have a mean sense of humor and I could enjoy puns and light humor, or that I could regard mild sarcasm as a vulgar outburst. I genuinely envy your less jaded worldview.
Well if you want the serious answer I'd probably say it matters a bit but not a lot. I have no problem with anyone doing anything they want with their body if it doesn't affect other people! Unfortunately, that's so rarely the case. I guarantee you'll almost never see a fat kid with thin parents. On top of that there's the health costs- which in a country like Britain affects every taxpayer. And then of course there's the fact that it's a bit sickening when you think about how many people are starving in the world. Need I go on?
chebob2009 actually being fat is not sickening in the context of starving people, it means you are putting the food to use. Whereas people who throw a lot of their food away, or bulimic people, who throw a lot of their food up, now that is a real insult to the starving in the world.
That's the worst logic I've ever heard. It doesn't matter where you're putting it, the point is you're taking more food than necessary when there are people starving who really need it. That's true with fat people AND with people who throw it away. What they happen to do with it is purely a sentimental judgement.
chebob2009 the starving African child would overeat given the chance. Overeating is OK, it's a natural impulse. Throwing food away or up when it can be sent to feed said starving African child, that is sickening.
What you or I happen to personally find sickening is completely irrelevant on a global scale. All that matters is the numbers and the facts. It's important to differentiate between the objective consequences of an issue and your personal feelings about the nature of an issue. Because the people who are starving don't have that luxury, they just care about getting the food.
I don't believe they really got celebrities to isolate for a week, most likely they agreed not to watch the news for a week, then went to the house and did a few hours' filming
It's not a sustainable format. You're not going to get top stars to spend a whole week doing nothing just for the kind of small pay they must have offered on a bare-bones show like this.

Kevin Garwood (the walking stick instructor) taught me Judo.
Josie Long is a fan of the Welsh Firebrand!
