Grant, I absolutely love how the shelves behind you are not "influencer perfect". They are real shelves, and I especially appreciate the rando plastic bag with pieces set on top of the other game boxes. Please don't change
Thanks for enjoying the video! I like Castle Combo and Faraway both. I think Faraway is more interesting and unique though. Castle Combo accomplishes what it's trying to do very well and is a lot of fun, but I've played other games that do what it is doing. Faraway feels like nothing I've ever played before. I think Castle Combo is easier to teach and is probably the better pick with non-gamers, but Faraway is the better pick with more experienced gamers.
I appreciate the list and your enthusiasm. There’s quite a few on the list that I haven’t purchased or played because my game collection is growing too fast. I agree, Duel for Middle Earth is a fantastic 2 player game! I have that one. Fromage and River of Gold look very interesting but sometimes 4 player games don’t make it to the table enough because of higher player count on game night. Harmonies looks great too, but I just got Cascadia + Landmarks expansion (which supports 5 - 6 players) and Aqua. So, I’m going to pass on Harmonies for now.
Don't pass on Harmonies! Get it and you'll see how amazing it is. It may seem to be a simple, run-of-the-mill animal/habitat game. But for some reason it works better than any other game of its ilk.
Also a fan of Cascadia and didn't think my collection really needed Harmonies. I finally broke and purchased Harmonies and absolutely my most played game in my collection. I introduced some non gamers to the game and it's very well received. If you do enjoy Cascadia at some point you must try Harmonies because you will not be disappointed.
I'm also a fan of Fromage, Let's Go To Japan, Flip 7, and Harmonies. I've played River of Gold on BGA and it's on my wishlist to buy whenever it's back in stock! I also like Faraway but it breaks my brain for some reason...I think the end sneaks up before I expect it to so I never get the cards played that I need.
Yeah Faraway definitely can break some brains. Whenever I teach it, I tell people we have to play it twice because it takes the first time to wrap your brain around it.
I will keep repeating my self about duel for middle earth. No, it is not a better nor is it a more thematic or easier to learn game. Of course there is a well known theme added to DFME but there are very weak thematic ties to what u are actually doing in the game. The game is also heavily biased to military which is a major weakness compared to 7 wonders version. Objectively speaking 7 wonders duel is the one game to recommend. Duel for middle earth is for people who have played 7 wonders duel for a while. Yes area control is more fun then thug of war but put a list of pros and cons and you will realize that 7W is the clear winner. I feel that content creators are for some reason misleading their l audience about this game.
If you have to keep repeating yourself, it's probably because people disagree with you. I don't think 7 Wonders Duel is the clear winner. I think DFME is more thematic and easier to learn.
@ No No I think content creators are simply not doing the service to the viewers and potential buyers rather they are catering to their sponsors. I am gonna write a review on bgg and I will hopefully succeed in getting my point across as to why 7WD is a more elegant, tactical and thematic game purely based on design choices. I hope u will read it so we can have a proper discussion on this game. Hope you agree with me that there is more to reviewing a game then tossing around opinions and feeling.

Thank you so much! I try to keep it real, and I'm glad that shows. I promise to not change haha.
Lol at "the depth is deep". I appreciate that you leave the self-deprecating bits in the video, it makes me laugh.
Haha glad you get a laugh! Sometimes I say dumb stuff and it makes me laugh too.
You have a new fan, have a great 2025
Grant, thanks for the great list and all your wonderful content. The industry is better because of you.
Wow, that's really nice of you to say. I appreciate it! Happy New Year!

That’s awesome to hear!!
Grant, thanks for a great review of your favorites from the year. What is your take on Castle Combo vs. Faraway?

I've heard so much about LotR Duel. Definitely at the top of my buy list at this point.
It’s a great game!!

I'm glad you like the list! I totally understand about a game collection growing too fast to keep up with. I feel like that sometimes too!
Great list of games. Many of those will be on my top 10 of 2024 I’m sure. And most of the ones that don’t overlap I haven’t played.
Glad you love these games too! Happy gaming!!
Grant can you make a video of ur favorite hidden movement games?
Yeah that's a good idea!
+1 on your #1 pick. That's my game of the year too (of the ones I've played) and also #3 on my all time list. Staggeringly good.
Glad you're loving it too!

Also, I know I said it in another video but this list really solidifies my belief that you need to check out Lure by allplay. 😂 Sorry. Not sorry.
Awesome! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve had my eye on it in the past and I need to try it!
