  • Todays loaded test run with 70000 Britannia around the Coton Hill circuit was very much take 2.
Last week Britannia had been working a loaded test run after repairs it had, however a problem occurred at Chester, and 47810 that had accompanied the Brit took the empty coaching stock back to Crewe. 70000 continued alone with just its support coach, but it got later and later, rectification was done en route at some point and it eventually arrived at Shrewsbury 100 minutes late! The Brit then went into Coton Hill, where the motion on the drivers side was removed, possibly for some rectification/repair works or other, and eventually left Coton Hill 3 hours late! It was a miserable day, it was raining and because of how late it was running, I decided it wasn't really worth staying around for.
Today, Britannia was out on this loaded test run again, whatever happened last time had obviously been resolved as no troubles occurred this time. We went to Penkridge to catch this, shame though that again, it was raining! the tailed back traffic we saw on the way home was shocking, and there were large puddles in the road we went down to get to the car park. It was worth it though I guess, Britannia certainly put on a fine show, cheers to the crew for the whistling, and she certainly wasn't hanging around either, running 26 minutes early!
There are two shots in this video, the first is filmed by myself on my camcorder stood in the field next to the station car park. The final shot was filmed by dad on his phone stood on the station platform.
