I just love the combination of houses, food and towns. I have purchased a house in Ostuni and I watch all of your videos to help me decide where to visit and where to eat. It is fabulous!
Love Siracusa - Syracuse in English - been there a few times. The food is exquisite. The second property is very special and potentially stunning but it requires at least the purchase price again to be spent on it to bring it to the highest standard. I love to visit Sicily but having thought about it would prefer to live on mainland Italy, connected to the rest of Europe.
How was live in Ortigia ? I want try to live here for a couple of months..... Everyday Life was enjoiable ? I like to have long walks and stay near the Sea for relax....
@@francescozacca9898 Loved it. Bought a small raft and went down to the rocks where the city builds a deck every summer to sun bathe and float around every day. Also, the train station is about a 20min walk and you can get to some nice beaches, that rival the Caribbean, where I have also lived. The people are great and there are many restaurants. Also, car rental services on the island. Fresh market everyday on the island which makes shoping easy and cheap.
Lovely fisherman's townhome in a great location. The historic villa broke my heart! How could the owners have let it get into such disrepair? The city should buy it and restore it as a historical and archaelogical site to be preserved. Thank you for sharing.
I love that first property, but I think I'd do some rearranging of living and bedroom spaces. That noble property would make a great boutique hotel with outrageous rates. 😂😅😂😅 This is the first video I have seen of Siracusa. Show us more of it, Marco. Ciao

I personally didn't like Ortigia. It was smelly, dusty and cats everywhere. Lots of tourist traps. Mainland Siracuse has some areas with deep poverty and crime. It doesn't have a good sea access and the swimming options are very limited. Properties are overpriced due to the tourism. Best place to buy in Sicily, if you want to be by the beach in a historical town is Trapani - stunning beaches, access to the airport, cheap properties, access to different islands to hop over.

I lived here months teaching , and it has elements of great beauty bit it's rough, wild and I felt unsafe walking home at night alone. I had to flee when covid hit in 2020 and the people were horrible to me, before that ok. You have to consider it's a lot like N Africa
Would love to know what time of year you filmed this in and what the temperatures were like in Sicilia. We get reports that in some places it might be in the 40's and wondering if you experienced these temps while you were there. We are keen to spend a few weeks travelling in Sicilia and staying in various places via AirBnB. Love the quality of your content. You could embark on a food and history channel and gain 1 million followers in my opinion, you have all the technical chops to achieve that goal.
A wonderful tour of the noble house in Syracuse! I do like the little map in the corner to see the floorplan. I like to know how the rooms are oriented overall.
Whilst in Sicily, you should come on up to Mussomeli. It's very vibrant and amazing houses on the market as well as extraordinary food. It's also the festival season so....
I'm so glad you made it to Sicily and to Siracusa in particular. How apt is the quote about not visiting unless you're prepared to forever long for the place. There is such a unique energy in Sicily - always unpredictable, sometimes worse than predicted, sometimes better - often both at the same time! I went there for the first time, as a chronically restless person, and thought "Here! This is It!" and I have been going back ever since whenever possible. I hope you make another visit to Sicily soon. There are so many interesting places with their own contemporary feel - Salemi, home of the 1 euro house and now apparently attracting international creatives, would be a great place to have a look at. Ragusa and Modica. Anywhere in Sicily please!

It is my dream to go visit Sicily one day but I can see they are huge on sea food over there and I don’t really eat sea food, I’ve tried it in so many different places and it’s just not my thing, so I’m worried that I’m going to starve while I’m there 🥲. It’s not that I’m a picky eater because apart from sea food I can eat almost anything.
I have 5 friends who all live in sicily. Work is exceptionally hard to get. They all have multiple jobs to get by and pay for their families. There is also a hidden mafia that everyone navigates quietly, particularly if you want to open a business . Cr8me can be quite prevalent and women have to be behave a certain way. But theres no denying the properties can be amazing.
Such a shame the 2nd property has been left to decay, those floors are magnificent and the frescoes beautiful, I smiled hearing my grandfather name Dionysius 🫶🏻 Michelle 🇦🇺
You’ve asked for suggestions on areas that you could present on, I am interested in learning more about some of the smaller inland towns in the Capo de Leuca region. The smaller towns like Barbarano del Capo, Montesardo, Patu, and Solignano that stand between the larger towns in the vicinity. Just dreaming though, thanks for asking.
I love the comment about Trapani - indeed it is gorgeous, however Siracusa has something Trapani doesn't - young people and international community. If you are in your 20s, 30s - this might have importance for you 💗
I'm always amazed by how much you can eat 😮😅😅 Unfortunately I can't eat almost anything of this nice looking food, being allergic to gluten, cow cheese and frutti di mare. I was in Sicily and Siracusa many many years ago and couldn't remember much apart from too many tourists. Thanks for showing us around! Nice homes as well! I really enjoy your videos.

aiya, looks like you have the kind of spot on the camera sensor that i have. the one that has been ruining my photos is a larger fuzzy blob. so sad, the camera has been great until this spot appeared about a year ago. it's not on the outside surface of the lens. so i have assumed it is not repairable.
Its sensor dust. If you remove your lens, you can try to clean the sensor with a small blower. Quite cheap on am*** . If this is not working, you can clean the sensor or let it cleaned in a camera store for cheap money :)
Just a spot of dust on the sensor… I only noticed it on the footage afterwards. Blew it off right after 👍 Yours sounds like it’s something more serious. Try getting it professionally cleaned and looked it.
Amazing video. The only thing to consider is global warming and how Sicily is becoming hotter and hotter. In addition, the island has also been in such a deficit of water/rain/in a drought that they are running out water. Also the best has increased and will continue to make it quite hot

The drought and long term climate change do not favor Sicilia. A number of areas are on water restrictions and need to have water trucked in. Poor management and wasteful ag practices are making the situation worse. I truly wish the best for Sicilia.

Lived in Ortigia for 6months. A great place. A lot more to see than was shown.

20% unemployment and one of the poorest regions in Italy. I doubt anyone wants to live behind bars for taste.
