Mine turned up today Mark. Pretty good first impressions. I like the pick-ups and although I don't find the neck too "fat" at all as Dave Simpson did, the very flat radius takes a bit of getting used to.
I knew the neck would be fine for you mate...Dave must have hands like Tom Thumb :-) Yes the flat radius does take a bit of getting used to but when you do you'll be flying round the fretboard I promise. Great wee guitar.
Agree about the gold scratch plate and fittings . In the end it's what it plays and sounds like that counts and that is a very individual thing - the neck looks a bit chunkier than I like on a Strat style guitar. Until I pick something up and play I never know if I am going to like a guitar or not.
Dear Mark, I hope you are well! I bought an HB Te-20, largely thanks to your review, haven't regretted it a second! I was just wondering, how does the neck on this strat compare to that of the Te-20, which is very comfortable to play for my, not so big, hands..? Thank you!
Hi Anthony, I'm glad I could be of help to you. The neck on the ST62 is quite chunky, so not like the TE20 at all. However, if you're a viewer of my channel you'll know I also have quite small hands, and this guitar feels nice and comfortable to me, so don't let that put you off. You should also look at the Squier Affinity. It has a very similar neck to the TE20 and is equally excellent value.
Ive just bought one. My second HB. Bought this one and a TE30. I bought them both because I couldnt decide which to get. I already have the HB Jazzmaster and that is a superb guitar. Ive read mixed reviews of both this guitar (ST62 DLX) and the TE30, mainly because they both have big necks, but thats what attracted me to both of them. I also love the Gilmour/No.1/Mary Kaye look of the DLX strat. I'll be really interested to see what you think of this one John...after listening to, and watching, Dave Simpsons review/opinions of his DLX. He thought that the neck was ridiculously massive to the point of being unplayable. Though of course...being Dave Simpson...he played the sh*t out of it! 😆
I've just filmed the review Christo, you're going to love it, it's a great guitar my friend. As for the neck, it's chunky but not uncomfortably so. I like a bit of chunk because it adds to the tone, and I only have small hands and I could still manage all the thumb over Hendrix chords on this. The neck is beautiful Christo honestly. I don't want to spoil my next video, but change out the pots, caps, and switch and you'll have yourself a cracking guitar. Review video will be published today at some point.
the back of the neck looks satin finished, despite the looks of it on the website. Not that I want to keep bragging about it but they should at least adjust some of their photos.
