Electrical and audio-mechanical engineer here. So, at first, let’s get rid of unrealistic assumptions: 1. Napkin got inside. That’s impossible since napkins are held in the lowest pressure zone, which is in the middle of exponential bass port. No matter how long they would be there, they would never get inside. 2. Drivers got burned. That’s impossible since it’s extremely hard to burn a well-made low Q-factor speaker driver. To burn those drivers you’d need an insane amount of power that the amp and power supply can’t even provide. Now, what actually happened? I’m very sure it’s power supply board that failed. On pure sinusoidal wave speaker driver reaches its max efficiency. That means that it would consume as much power as possible. Also the bass port is tuned somewhere around those frequencies you played, which is also important. Bass port gives load to the drivers, making them consume even more energy. So here we come to the conclusion: the drivers consumed so much power, that the amp or power supply couldn’t handle. Considering the sound, it’s most likely power supply, because if amp failed, the sound would just cut off instantly and never play again. That’s because amp is a microchip with many elements inside, overpowering it would destroy all the stuff inside the chip and it can’t “partly fail”. While the power supply has many different dedicated elements in its board. If it’s overpowered, for example, transformer coil can have some turns shorted, or Schottkey assembly might blow up. With this type of damage the power supply would still work, but provide insufficient current or unstable voltage, which would lead to this type of problem with sound. And one more thing. Are you sure it’s a permanent damage? Try to use the speaker after a few hours. Likely it was just some overheating protection kicking in on power supply or the amp. Anyways, hope you’ll have your speaker fixed, good luck!
What the heck? How impossible is that when it already happened with the napkims, it already happened to me with other stuff and there is tons of evidence of ports eating stuff. Ports have nonlinear behavior, they CAN suck more than blow in terms of such objects moving. Second, it is quite easy to burn a speaker. First it is tortured with 100-90Hz which does not create much movement. That means very little cooling, and in such design the speaker operates near impedance minimum causing maximum heating. Then soon again near port tuning frequency. These speakers should be well managed regarding power input, but it is still possible to damage them mechanically and electrically.
Yeah, so JBL didn’t care much about rating the powers correctly, probably put the power supply that could barely handle the max volume. And about napkins. Exactly exponential bass port can’t suck things inside. It’s the one that has wide opens and is narrow in the middle. This makes the air pressure lower in the middle, so it holds stuff in there.
@@Michael-hw5qq that's a home theatre bud, they r taking about party speakers. Good thing I have a Sony😅🤣 cuz i never experienced such a thing even when playing it outside for like 3-4 hrs at max volume
I'd suggest not putting the EQ at max on all bands with the volume at max as well because its driving it harder than JBL intended, possibly causing damage. Just keep the EQ flat at max volume to prevent any risk of overpower draw.
It makes no difference to change the EQ to max at max volume, because the system adjust the sound by DSP itself to avoid any distortion. What seems happened is that the coil of the woofers was damage.. Probably a project mistake by JBL.
@@SPLSPECTRUM @Tachi778 said the power supply failed. Id still not max out the EQ as pure sine waves especially in the 30 - 40 hz range use up a TON of power so it's not surprising tbh
@@Usenowgamer Yeah, a power suply fail that resulted probably in woofer coil damage. Even with max volume and a senoidal wave, it shouldn't be a problem, because I did this tests on the Partybox 100, 310 and now on my two 710 and had any problems; and by the way, I did this senoidal wave sine to 2h by 3 days, soon after I took my 310's and 710's to get the burn in of the drivers and had no problems. So I think what happened with the 320 was a project mistake by JBL.
Because my partybox 320 is fuzzing in the woofers and I have no idea if it’s breaking it It only happens on battery with dass bosted on Appel music and with low bass mode on the partybox with partybox EQ with bass at normal and only happens at around 75-100% volume
Imo opinion these speakers can take a beating but always max volume with heavy bass and eq at max it is going to hurt it over a period of time until one day it will blow. I never play my 2 710 l's and all JBL's i had over 75% volume for long periods of time without reducing the volume every now and then to let it cool of a bit before punching it again
The volume of JBL party boxes are severely limited. If you want, you can make it 20% louder yourself, but I don't do this myself because they are already more than loud enough. i played my pb 1000 for a few hours at high volume and never had a problem. but i understand that you are careful.
Em 85 Hz já havia alguns sons de batidas, se não houver cheiro de queimado é normal, talvez o alto-falante esteja com defeito, algo não está colado nele.
I think one of the napkins got caught into a voice coil. You could somehow fix it but you would have to take apart the whole speaker. The napkin could also catch fire from the heat of the voice coil.
I got jbl 310 two of them and bouth broke. One started to turn on by itself and other one bass started distorsion.Got replaced and happend again.JBL have nice sound but quality is crap
Hi friend. I am a new subscriber. you make excellent videos. I'm sorry for what happened. If you ask me, it's a manufacturing error in the speakers. It can't be the amp otherwise there would be no more sound. moreover if it was the amp, the speaker would have gone into protection and thus, there would not have been any foreign sounds, but the speaker would still be on, nor the power otherwise the speaker would have completely gone out, it can't be a handkerchief that got inside because it is maintained in the area with the lowest pressure of the bass-reflex vent, therefore in the middle if it were normal, there would be the same problem on the 120
I have experienced this long back with my Sony Sub box . The biggest blunder is keeping the Papers at the air vent. How can you block our nose to breathe and saying the person is dead, doesn’t mean the lungs are bad. LET IT BREATHE BRO.
My 310 & 710 passed a hertz test. I don't remember if it was 100 though. I play 710 bass boost 1 bass setting all the way up & other 2 allthe way down for hours max volume. I blew out an Anker w/ a bass boosting app instantly before. Since I don't try them app anymore.
