Eastman are definitely a nice alternative to USA made guitars. Well made and excellent sound. Thank you
Love every review you guys do...no matter if the instrument is on my wish list or not. Just awesome reviews! I bought an Eastman E10D back in Nov 2022, and am a HUGE Eastman fan. Biggest bang for the buck! Was considering a Gibson J45 for awhile, then started researching Eastman and honestly, such a HUGE guitar. Eastman rocks!
Truly outstanding guitar. The spruce/walnut thing is a hidden gem.
True - I love my Gibson J-15 with this combo
Thanks, Howard 🙂
i will def. own this model someday. lovely, huge, amazing sounding. thx, guys.
Oh wow, that back is something else! Seeing how Quinton was impressed with the sound back there in California was a plus. Thanks for the comparison with a mahogany backed guitar. The bass and boom are great. Thanks Quinton and Paul!
V - for volume! Quenton, you weren’t even pushing it and it was giving you volume!
Nice. Has a nice chimey 12-string vibe as well as lots of deep bass. 😍
She's a beaut! Looks and sounds great. Makes you wonder why walnut isn't used more often as a tone wood for the B&S.
Brilliant guitar. Love it.
Comparing this to an Eastman E20SS-v-SB (East Indian Rosewood back and sides, Adirondack top): This video compares the sound of the E22SS-v-SB (Walnut, vintage varnish finish) to an E10SS (Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, glossy finish). I was able to compare the E22 to the E20SS-v-SB (East Indian Rosewood Back and Sides) that I really love. Both vintage varnish finishes sound a bit louder than the gloss finished Eastman. Both play well up the neck, and do not lose the low end (that wasn't demonstrated in the video, but is very nice). To my ear, the walnut backed E22 sounds warmer with rounder notes than either the E10 or E20. The walnut seems to sound somewhere between mahogany and maple with its cleaner single note tones, especially the bass notes. I like the E20 (Rosewood) for its overtones when I sing. The E22 may become my favorite for finger style or bass/treble note runs. The technical answer for which is better is "it depends." I like both for different tunes. The E22 really sounds great in open G (for all that Irish tune stuff). The "vintage" distressing doesn't bother me because it just looks a little worse than my 53-year old first guitar. Thanks Quinton and Paul.
I like the sound and the walnut makes it sound great 8:58
The red Spruce top goes a long way toward giving this instrument its sound, but the Walnut seems to have a Maple-like quality of clarity as opposed to Rosewood accentuating a low-end boom.
My very first guitar was an Eastman (AC508CE). I sold it to buy a notably inferior instrument; I was stupid. I refuse to use the "for the money" cliche, because Eastmans are amazing instruments that hold their own in any price range. Thanks for yet another excellent review.
Was the notably inferior instrument American made? My Eastman slays my Martin.
Here for the playin’
Yep, great playing! But I have also bought 4 guitars from Music Villa… great selection, great service, freight free, and tax free, (unless you live in Montana).
The 10 stands for mahogany and the 20 for rosewood basically but the 22 seems to move it beyond with that figured walnut.
Great guitars, i have two Eastman's myself, one of them the E1SS ltd.
Very happy with it, was €1000, with adi top and build in pick up.
Sounds just as good as this new one, twice the price....
One other thing, in these demo's i think the fingerpickin' sounds great but the strummin' terrible, to hard, maybe its the thumb pick, not my choice for a strum......
Anyway, always nice to see the new models, thanks!👍👍
E22SSV or the E20SSV? Rosewood vs Walnut?
Footage of "this weekend" please.
Eastman is a guitar company I'm not very familiar with so after watching this video I looked them up online. They got some really nice guitars and many are quite reasonably priced under $1,000. The guitar demonstrated here more expensive but it sure has a nice loud and expressive sound.
What is that varnish material?
I feel bad for the e10. I hope someone gives it a nice home .
The video does not do it justice, played one the other day, and man it sounds BIG, It’s got the bass, the deepness a dreadnought is known to have, if you get a chance to play one, TRY IT!!!
she has the look of a gibson and sound like a good martin ! isn't it ?!
When i see westetn guitar review, i have a culture shock, because almost western reviewer has playing the folk song style. :(
You can't have too much varnish?
Damn son , kiss that one goodbye
That would be an awesome 12 string
Massive projection from the 225. Sounds like they are stealing Dana Bourgeois' expertise in bracing tops. No surprise there , though.
Too bad the top doesn't display that love-of-wood like the back does. "Let's get the spray cans out and cover it up!!" All of it? "No, just a lot of it... we don't like the look of wood - we actually hate it." -Gods of Bursts & Paintjobs
Should you get thirsty, it's very unwise to drink guitar varnish.
