I came to say the same thing basically, something to the effect of "you weren't kidding, the camera does make it look way flatter, that log said 'see ya!' with one little shove" 😂
Same! 😅 In my head I was thinking, "weeeeeeee!" That was a nice little bit of carefree, lighthearted fun, a little bright spot in my day that made me smile. 😊
I live in Germany, and it's very common for people to leave large tree trunks or heavily pruned trees that are dead/dying as a natural place for insects, bugs, and other animals to inhabit. Really helps when it's near by living quarters to give them a place to live thats not under your couch
The log reminded me of a cartoon as it continued rolling! Had there been snow on the ground, it just might have gotten HUGE as it collected snow on it’s way into the woods!
Well, I admit, this wasn't a 30 ton Boulder being pried off a Tyrolian Alps precipice, but it was oddly satisfying. Satisfying like, (I'm just trying to figure this out), as satisfying as having a GoPro view of a cat laying on his side, his paw touching the cup that is 40% pushed off the counter, and here we go!
pileated woodpeckers love those fallen trees especially when their rotted. I had a PW stay on my property for a month while he worked on a tree that fell down when I was I teenager.
I think it looks flat because of the perspective. When you showed the rotten log from far away, you could see the slope a bit more. But when you showed the log from right behind it, it definitely looks flat. Which is usually how we see your property, is from that perspective.
It's due to how the camera is aimed(which is to say, perspective, but more). While he zoomed out like that, the aim was more level with the horizon, which is how our brains are constantly seeing and interpreting the world. When aiming at something you want to film down a slope, you must aim downwards, distorting the perspective and removing or distorting visual cues your brain relies on to judge depth and orientation. While the same is true up a slope, the camera is usually held more level as the ground forces target subjects up and into the frame without too much aiming up or down of the camera.
This somehow took me back to my memories of scouts. Specifically when we’d clean a potential camp site or went hiking and took in the nature. Also, I bet it was fun getting to roll that log away.
Idk who thought it wasnt pretty slopey, mainly due to your descriptions of the area. One part of it is how we aim cameras actually. Our brains align constently our horizon(thats why pilots need so much training to fly in cloud), but while we film something we point the lens at the thing we're trying to capture! Thats part of why looking up the slope makes it more apparent than when looking down the slope, youre aimed more level yet still at the ground, versus having to aim downwards to film whats down the slope.
That brings back memories of my brothers and I, rolling & tumbling down the mountain, through trees, brush, and rotten stumps/trees.😎☕ ( we were lucky, to not have rolled over any porcupines, skunks, or hornets/yellowjackets 🐝🎯👀☕
that’s wild how steep it is vs what shows on camera. i think it’s just because the perspective, we don’t really know how tall the trees are up close so they could be any height from a distance, and you’re on top of the hill so the camera is not usually looking up the slope but down it. when you were walking back up i could definitely see it better. very odd how perspective and especially cameras can throw us off!
Have you considered growing wine caps or oyster mushrooms? Or maybe something native to your area? Fungus is a miracle worker for the environment, if used as directed.
Have you ever considered inoculating some of the logs in your Forest with mushrooms? I know you have harvested chicken of the woods in the past, but with a little work you could get loads of different kinds of mushrooms.
You're right, it's not as flat as it looks
True that, log kept going and I went "oh"
I came to say the same thing basically, something to the effect of "you weren't kidding, the camera does make it look way flatter, that log said 'see ya!' with one little shove" 😂
idk why i thought this was a flat butt joke
That’s what she said
You’re right the camera does not do the slope justice. That thing was moving!
I said the SAME wow
Great way to show the slope of the property!
Turns out the land is flat as a pancake, and Nate just has super strength 😂
💪💪💪💪
The laws of physics are scared of him
Man see log roll. Man happy.
Nate really delivered with this one! 🙌
That brought a smile watching that log roll. Didnt know i needed that. Thank u!
Same! 😅 In my head I was thinking, "weeeeeeee!" That was a nice little bit of carefree, lighthearted fun, a little bright spot in my day that made me smile. 😊
😂😂😂 i would have been trying to race it down hill just scare i would end up under it😂😂
Came here to say the same thing! It was surprisingly amusing to watch it roll
Yeah. Nate, did you like that too?
That was so satisfying to watch. Im a simpleton. And the log ended up perfectly in a pile of brush! Super
I dug out a trench down the center of an old log and threw in some dirt and filled it with ferns and hostas. It looks amazing and the plants grew huge

I'm shocked by how deeply satisfying that was to watch....
Idk why this is the coolest thing you've ever posted for me
Everything looks so green and pretty right now. Ahhhh Spring!

The bugs casually having dinner in the log: 💫🥴💫

And over chairs
And over the neighborhood's dog
It rolls over here
It rolls over there
Its log! Log! Log!
There it is!!!
Was looking for this comment!
Log, log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood
Log, log, it's better than bad - it's good!
The casual nature with which you just kicked the log into a pre-existing brush pile. Very cool 😎
The log reminded me of a cartoon as it continued rolling! Had there been snow on the ground, it just might have gotten HUGE as it collected snow on it’s way into the woods!
You understood the "gravity" of the matter! 😂

Work smarter, not harder! 👍
What a beautiful piece of land!

I love rolling and throwing big logs around outside it's sooooo much fun
That looks cool the way it goes down the hill.
Well you are right that really must have made you happy good job!!
Nate you always make me stop and laugh and think you are doing you and it’s grand to watch
Tough work here I see 😂🇺🇸
Work easier not harder. You have a great camping property.
You’re right. I actually thought the property was more flat.
Very satisfying, somehow, to watch that log roll.
That does look like perfect fun 😁
That log looked like prime real estate for a yellow jacket nest, best for it to be far away
Nate gave that log the "and don't come back" style of kick.
thats it, Nate. let your inner child shine!!!!!!!
Those grubs just went on the ride of their lives 😅
It's the simple things in life 😊
I enjoy these shorts.
NAILED IT! SNIPER! HOLE IN ONE!
I'm so proud of you.
When it started to roll, all that came to my head was limp Bizkit. Keep rolling song
That was very satisfying to watch 😊
Fallen logs have a lots of uses for all kinds of wildlife

You see me rolling🎶
oh wow that does look flatter than it is!
Looks like paradise to me.👍
That was SO SATISFYING to watch!
Hey, I don't know.
If you realize this or not but rotting logs are some of the best fertilized Rich soil to use and gardens or raised garden beds.
Very satisfying!
That was just way too cool!
Nice....ENJOYING THE LIFE...❤

Oh wow! yeah never would have known it was that steep
Helluva yes, she NEEDS to come back for Blitzø and crew! 100% yes!
That was very satisfying.

Oh yeahh that was awesome
That...was oddly satisfying...
That looks fun!
Try using it for hugle grading. Or grow mushrooms.😊
That was much steeper than I expected
That was very satisfying to watch to be honest 😆 log rolling ASMR 😂
Bury it and plant things in the mound. Makes a great planter
Best log role ever
Yessss it rolled all the way!
This log is a real ankle breaker lol
Dead trees are an extremely important habitat for many species. Especially dead standing.
That was ridiculously satisfying
Perfectly executed sir!
Awe, I'm in Northern Canada. But I totally would've carved you something! ❤
😮
Glad I Logged in For This
The ducks will probably love those beetle grubs from under the log.
Everyday is leg day for Nate and Jen
Well that looks fun
Have you considered growing wine caps or oyster mushrooms? Or maybe something native to your area? Fungus is a miracle worker for the environment, if used as directed.
Perfect to try and grow mushrooms on now
Amazing it went straight to the brush pile 😂
🗣️ "Look out below" 😄
Have you ever considered inoculating some of the logs in your Forest with mushrooms? I know you have harvested chicken of the woods in the past, but with a little work you could get loads of different kinds of mushrooms.
It's log, it's heavy, it's round, it's wood!
Ooooooo, have you thought about making it into a mushroom log? Now that it's in the shade and where water will drain it may be easy.
that kick was actually impressive.
The kick is up… and it’s good!
Those make good firewood too!
Haha i didnt know i needed this!
Great content💫😊
