I have the opposite view on Countdown and Youthanasia. I 've never been a fan of these talking songs, while Youthanasia works just fine for me. I love the opening, ballad, Killing Road. Great stuff. Countdown I used to rank at the bottom. Endgame - fine album but there is nothing special for me. But Dystopia...oh man! I actually never much liked the band... because of Countdown . But I heard Dystopia and decided to give Dave another try. Thanks to this album I became a fan. i don't even hate Countdown now 😅 I am yet to be convinced by the new album.

Honestly Megadeth has some real clunkers. Risk, Super Collider, The World Needs a Hero, Thirteen, and Cryptic Writings are all pretty much unlistenable to me lol. I'm with you, I like both bands but I'm more of a Metallica guy. Metallica only has 2 albums that I don't like (Reload and St. Anger), but Megadeth has 5 albums that I can't even stand.
I actually don't like Rust in Peace that much. I don't know what it is. For every other album I'm where most Megadeth fans are. Peace Sells and Countdown to Extinction are therefore #1 and #2 for me.
Today is Mustaine birthday lool. My favourites albums are Rust in Peace and Coundtown to Extincion. Peace Sells is overrated in my opinion, the voice of Mustaine in The Conjuring is absolute horrible. Can you make a ranking of Death someday? Is one my favourite metal bands ever.

peace sells was great love that album and so far so good so what
I only love the first 6 Megadeth albums. After Youthanasia the albums are bad, mediocre or forgettable/boring. There are some killer songs but they are on bad albums in my opinion. My ranking:
