Are you just digitizing to a file or are you editing too, looks like you are just dubbing tape to capture to file. When you return the file to the customer he just gets the unedited media. I used to do tape to tape with a multiplexed 16 channel tape, I would sometimes need a 30 second clip, sometimes an entire 8 hour video would be needed.

Look at the amount and type of equipment he has. None of it is cheap anymore. Most people are not going to go through the hassle of buying all of it. And when it breaks, there is nowhere to have any of it fixed.
Do you ever run the tapes "for time" to see how much time they are going to take?

Is there a good machine that can do old super8 with sound? seems like the kodak reels don't do sound. really enjoying your videos!
I do it the old fashion way with a Kodak movie deck and a tele screen. Sometimes I might send it through Kodak reels and sinc audio after.
This works for me because I rarely see sound film so I can’t justify any other digitizing gear purchase. They come out looking pretty good just more effort. But I’m ok with that
