Jeez. As a die-hard Old Crow fan since their beginning, this really hit me seeing all those old photos of the boys because I am always longing for those days when they were all still together. Such a beautiful tribute song to them Ketch. Keep up the good work my man.
I'm a 33 year old man. Thank you OCMS! This song made me ball like a baby. I'm missing my own musical brother who's been miles away for the past 10 years. God bless you guys. ❤❤❤
I'll second this. Missing my musical brother(s) too. All the shared music making moments, riding the rails and riding the notes high into the rafters. It's amazing how down the road turned so quickly and easily turned into miles away. What a great ode and reminder to reach out to the ones we've shared our unique experiences, the kind that only making music brings, to tell 'em we love 'em and thanks for the times that made us who we are. It's always later than we think.
I'm originally from Knoxville, but I caught a one way flight to Seattle in 2016. Left everything behind, but I miss my family and friends. I've been diagnosed with terminal cancer, but I'm giving it a run for it's money and kicking it's ass so far. This song hit my soul. First time I caught one of your shows was at a WDVX show in Knoxville and again last month near Seattle. Had an awesome time!! This woman had a great night. My son and I tore the grass up dancing. 😆 Thank you.
First time I ever heard y'all was with my dady back when I was just a child now I'm 23 still loving y'all you brought me and my dad closer together at that moment thank y'all for the memories were all in this together and y'all prove that
🎉 Genuinely touching track. Really needed hearing this today, been missing family and old friends something fierce; hope I’ll get to head back to their neck of the woods again soon.
Lyrics I ran into my old friend by the side of the road today He was cuttin' back roses in the rain Had a few more miles carved in his mandolin But he kept pretty well in tune When he sang them old-time country blues Do you remember the rails that we used to ride Oh, that was many mountains ago Since we split off up on that westbound trail How you been old friend, are you doing well? I never got the chance to say I love you Now it all feels just a little too late Ever since just down the road turned Miles away Miles away Miles away How's the paint on the fence are the fields still growing wild I heard you lost your gal along the way Remember hiding high up in the rafters all day Did that old roof cave in, is there anything left of all that's been I never got the chance to say I love you Now it all feels just a little too late Ever since just down the road turned Miles away Miles away Miles away So if you run into some lost friend or lover And find only reticence remains Grab the saddle horn and just throw your body over Don't let the past Don't let the past Don't let the past hold the reins Take the chance to say I love you Even if it all feels a little too late 'Cause before you know it just down the road'll turn Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away Miles away
Just saw you guys at Riverbend in Cincinnati!!!!!! Don’t tell Hank but y’all were the must entertaining group we’ve seen. We loved your music and your performance!!!! The Golden girls exit was fabulous. Would love to see you guys again next time y’all roll through.
I remember seeing OCMS play support for Gillian Welch and David Rawlings in Manchester, England back when I was about 19 or 20. They were really good and I enjoyed the evening so much. Thank you lads, love from England.
Took my son bk in 2008 to see them. I then wanted to know who they were opening up for.. Willie Nelson.. ❤❤one of the most awesome things ever.. glad it was his first concert..
a song featuring Willie..... where was he in this song? A whole verse would have been the least bit owed to him for all he has done for this band. I was really hyped for this song to be released, and dont get me wrong, its a beautiful track and the video was an awesome tribute.
What a great song, saw you in St. Louis last week, great show. On a side note Michael that's playing piano with Hank would be a great fit with you guys with his accordion or mandolin, just saying.
Ok, thank you! I thought I was the only one who couldn't find him. I see him in the pictures but don't hear his voice! His voice is pretty unmistakable so I find it hard to have missed it entirely...
What happened to Willie? He was the superglue and the soul of this band. Lost interest when he left. I only see photos of him in this video. Is he really playing on this song as studio magician?
I didn't enjoy that track. The band has morphed into something other than what I signed up for. By featuring Willie Watson do you mean featuring pictures of Willie watson? I was super excited to hear his verse but it didn't happen.
I miss Willies voice from Old Crow. An essential part of the mix.
A reunion album with Willie, Critter, and Chance would be so fantastic.
I'll second that!
....Willie and Critter and Chance and Gill and Kevin.
Not gonna lie I kinda stopped listening when they lost critter, Kevin, and added drums.
@@BigWillTheThrill75they've had drums since at least Tennessee Pusher
@@_shedonist_ yep. Carry me back was the last album that really had me
I love Old Crow so much , wish Willie was still a full time member he is the perfect balance to Ketch.
Could not agree more!! Willie's voice with Ketch's harmonica and fiddle make me swoon!

My bud was playing this song in the car on the way back home, and idk why but I get a good feeling that I can’t explain. Love this song
Such a beautiful tribute to all those who have come and gone from OCMS. Wonderful song
Thank you very much

Lyrics
I ran into my old friend by the side of the road today
He was cuttin' back roses in the rain
Had a few more miles carved in his mandolin
But he kept pretty well in tune
When he sang them old-time country blues
Do you remember the rails that we used to ride
Oh, that was many mountains ago
Since we split off up on that westbound trail
How you been old friend, are you doing well?
I never got the chance to say I love you
Now it all feels just a little too late
Ever since just down the road turned
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
How's the paint on the fence are the fields still growing wild
I heard you lost your gal along the way
Remember hiding high up in the rafters all day
Did that old roof cave in, is there anything left of all that's been
I never got the chance to say I love you
Now it all feels just a little too late
Ever since just down the road turned
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
So if you run into some lost friend or lover
And find only reticence remains
Grab the saddle horn and just throw your body over
Don't let the past
Don't let the past
Don't let the past hold the reins
Take the chance to say I love you
Even if it all feels a little too late
'Cause before you know it just down the road'll turn
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away
Miles away

Damn this is so great
The rails you used to ride did not ever sound like this shit. Poor old Willie, he should have never came back.

@@bsale5303 Agreed!
I listened and if he was one of the background singers I really couldn't tell
Is that a St. Ours at 0:37 on the fiddle with Ketch?
What happened to Willie? He was the superglue and the soul of this band. Lost interest when he left. I only see photos of him in this video. Is he really playing on this song as studio magician?
Beautiful song! I'm curious where that concert venue is. Anyone know?
Shit... sorry for all you guys, know the feeling of losing a friend young. all i can say is keep on rollin that wagon wheel.

I agree completely. This song sucks compared to their previous music. What the hell. And I don’t think Willie is on this?
☀️ "Promo SM"
Mid. Not the same within willie and critter fuqa
Over-produced, I'm afraid.
It's long overdue for Ketch to have a #1 CMA song.
Hopefully this is it.
Stay away from the Bud Light, bud!
:)
Miles better than that trash anti-gun song.
Great song
