if anyone wants a quick way to get the USD prices on yen, take the last 2 0's off the price (ex. 8800 ¥ becomes 88) then divide by 1.47

Yeah, I was in that same HardOff earlier this week. The prices for the Super Famicoms are insane. I was lucky enough to find a junk one at Lashingbang in Nakano Broadway for ¥880 last week that I've since cleaned up and works perfectly.
This is what you imagine as the over priced akiba store being and it lives up to its overpricedness🤑🤑🤑 good work on finding a reasonable price for the sfc👍🏻

17:46 Price might be based on model. Some are more useful than others! For instance, my particular model of fat PS2 isn't compatible with mechapwn, so it can't be tricked into thinking it's a dev console and play all regions. (But a busted slim I was given and fixed up _is_ compatible.)

Dude, I appreciate the hell out of this format. I don't know that I'll ever have the chance to visit Japan, so I enjoy the opportunity to take in the experience vicariously. The only thing that could possibly make it better is if you had a 360º camera. 😌

but now only foreigners buy in these shops or are there still some Japanese who make purchases? I remember that in Akihabara the prices were higher than in other areas but now they are exploding! 😱
I see Japanese people buy there too but locals know where to get better deals so...
my one source is slowly raising prices, probably at least 100% for some items in the last 6 months out of tokyo japan (nick name for source its not in tokyo wink wink) and its alarming
i cant imagine once the "run of the mill" retro youtubes start hyping imports how much prices will begin to rise.

Things are increasing overall, not much we can do about it. The yen is way too low right now. And akiba is high in price as usual. As long as people pay the prices akiba will stay high.
